itinerary
Day 1: Monday – Brisbane (D)
Arrive on your QantasLink flight to Longreach and transfer to Winton’s exclusive Rangelands Outback Camp, set atop a striking mesa on a private cattle station. Check into your super-sized luxury en suite tent and take in the sweeping views across “dinosaur country”. As the outback sky softens into gold and amber hues, gather on Sunset Deck for cocktails and canapés, complemented by an entertaining bush poet performance, before a chef prepared gourmet dinner. Fine wines, champagne and premium beer are included. 4 Nights Rangelands Outback Camp
Day 2: Tuesday – Winton (B,L,D)
Wake to an outback sunrise and a relaxed chef-prepared breakfast. This morning, join an experienced Savannah Guide for a half-day, behind-the-scenes tour at the Australian Age of Dinosaurs, including the laboratory and collection centre, and hear how bones from 90–95 million years ago are being revealed.
Return to Rangelands for an afternoon of leisure – perhaps a glass of wine on your private deck. Following an early dinner, transfer into Winton for the Festival of Outback Opera Opening at The Royal Outdoor Theatre. Enjoy an intimate recital by an Opera Queensland artist followed by a special film screening of Tina – a cinematic exploration of resilience and the power of music (Note: you have the option to return to Rangelands after the recital if you prefer an early night).
Day 3: Wednesday – Winton (B,D)
After another delicious chef-prepared breakfast, the day is yours. Choose an optional ¾-day tour to historic Carisbrooke Station and the Dinosaur Stampede (lunch included), or spend the morning in Winton browsing opal shops, visiting the Waltzing Matilda Centre, or taking a scenic helicopter flight for a snapshot of the dramatic mesa landscape (own arrangements for lunch). Note: Please request pricing for these optional activities.
Return to Rangelands early afternoon to unwind before an early dinner. Tonight, enjoy All Together Now at the outback Dustarena, a celebration of the power of song blending operatic favourites with sing-along classics, followed by a post-performance piano bar where you can request your favourite tunes.
Day 4: Thursday – Winton (B,L,D)
Following breakfast, join your host for a guided walk through the ancient Rangelands Rifts, exploring ancient corridors and caves shaped by natural erosion over millions of years, and featured in films such as The Proposition. (Medium fitness required.)
Late morning, gather at the iconic North Gregory Hotel for a lively performance by University of Queensland artists and a thought-provoking panel discussion on opera’s role in regional life and tourism.
Return to Rangelands early afternoon to prepare for spectacular Dark Sky Serenade, performed 75 metres above the surrounding landscape at the Australian Age of Dinosaurs. Enjoy VIP seating with pre-performance drinks and canapés at sunset as sublime music carries across the evening air. Back at Rangelands, enjoy a post-performance dinner and drinks to complete a magnificent evening of stargazing, music and exceptional performances.
Day 5: Friday – Longreach (B,L)
Savour a final relaxed breakfast at Rangelands before transferring to Longreach for the Long Lunch at Qantas Founders Museum. Indulge in an exquisite multi-course chef’s menu paired with fine wines, accompanied by a “degustation of song” performed by Opera Queensland artists. The marriage of gastronomy and music provides a fitting finale to your outback adventure. You will be transferred to Longreach Airport for your connecting flight back to Brisbane.
Note: Due to your 2.50pm flight departure from Longreach today, you will need to leave the lunch approximately 30 minutes before closing. If you’d prefer to stay for the full event, an overnight stay in Longreach can be arranged for additional charge — please enquire for details.
