Day 1. Arrive Adelaide (L,D)
Our flights arrive into Adelaide where we board our local tour operator coach. We make our way to the Mount Lofty summit before heading to Australia’s oldest surviving German settlement Hahndorf for lunch. We then make our way into Adelaide CBD to check-in. 1 Night Stay: Amora Adelaide.
Day 2. Kangaroo Island (B,L,D)
This morning we journey through the scenic Fleurieu Peninsula to Cape Jervis, where we board the ferry to Kangaroo Island. On arrival, we make our way to False Cape Wines to enjoy a relaxed wine tasting and lunch surrounded by the island’s beautiful rural landscape. This afternoon, take in the coastal views at Pennington Bay before visiting Clifford’s Honey Farm for a guided tour and a taste of their famous honey ice cream. We then continue to American River, where we settle into our waterfront accommodation for the next three nights. 3 Night Stay: Mercure Kangaroo Island Lodge.
Day 3. Kangaroo Island (B,L,D)
After breakfast, we enjoy the morning pelican feeding on the foreshore before setting out for a guided tour of Kangaroo Island Wool. We continue to Emu Bay Lavender Farm for lunch, followed by the exciting Birds of Prey Show at Raptor Domain. Our day concludes at Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park, home to a wonderful variety of native Australian animals.
Day 4. Kangaroo Island (B,L,D)
Our day begins at Flinders Chase National Park, where we marvel at the iconic Remarkable Rocks and the striking Admirals Arch. After enjoying a 2-course BBQ lunch at Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery, our day ends with a visit to Seal Bay Conservation Park, where a guided beach walk brings us close to a thriving colony of Australian sea lions.
Day 5. Kangaroo Island – Proud Mary Cruise (B,L,D)
This morning we farewell Kangaroo Island and cruise by ferry to Cape Jervis. Our Fleurieu Peninsula discovery continues to beautiful Victor Harbor, where we ride the iconic Horse Drawn Tram across the causeway to Granite Island before enjoying lunch. We then travel through the picturesque Fleurieu to McLaren Vale and the extraordinary d’Arenberg Cube, where we explore the Alternate Realities Museum and enjoy a hosted wine tasting. This afternoon we continue to Murray Bridge to board the Proud Mary for our five-night Murray River cruise.
Day 6. Proud Mary Cruise (B,L,D)
Enjoy breakfast as the Proud Mary cruises upstream to Mannum, birthplace of the river boat trade, followed by a local coach tour. After lunch on board, continue to Walkers Flat. Tonight enjoy Australiana Night and a guided Nocturnal Discovery Tour, with the chance to spot wildlife including Southern Hairy-nosed Wombats.
Day 7. Proud Mary Cruise (B,L,D)
After breakfast, visit Costa Brothers Almond Farm and Swan Reach Museum. Rejoin Proud Mary for lunch as we cruise to Lock 1 at Blanchetown, then continue to Sugar Shack in the River Murray International Dark Sky Reserve. Tonight, enjoy a fun trivia night.
Day 8. Proud Mary Cruise (B,L,D)
This morning we enjoy a discovery walk of Sugar Shack to understand the importance of the flood plains to the river system. We re-join the Proud Mary and cruise downstream to Swan Reach where we will visit the town and craft shop. After re-joining Proud Mary for lunch, we cruise to Big Bend. A highlight of this expedition is a guided cruise led by an ecologist aboard a small boat through the lagoons and inlets of Big Bend. This evening enjoy a traditional Australian barbecue on shore followed by live Aussie entertainment around a campfire.
Day 9. Proud Mary Cruise (B,L,D)
Watch the sunrise over the towering cliffs this morning with an early departure to the Ngaut Ngaut Aboriginal conservation area where we are met by a local Aboriginal guide and shown one of Australia’s first Aboriginal Archaeological digs. From here Proud Mary will be serving lunch while cruising downstream through Bowhill to Mannum with a late afternoon arrival in Mannum for cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and a formal Captain’s Dinner.
Day 10. Disembark – Adelaide (B,L,D)
Following breakfast, we depart for Woodlane and board a coach for a tour of Aussie Apricots and Revolution Motor Museum. Today, lunch is superbly prepared using fresh local produce. This afternoon there will be more spectacular scenery before the vessel ties up once more in Murray Bridge, and the captain and crew bid farewell to guests. We board the coach and make our way to Adelaide. 1 night stay: Amora Adelaide
Day 10. Flights home (B)
Our morning starts with a city tour of Adelaide before making our way to Adelaide Airport for our respective flights home.
