After lunch take some time to view the museum, displaying extensive memorabilia of the original families who came to farm here in 1882. We then continue on to make our way past Coffs Harbour and arrive at the beautiful and tranquil Lookout Mountain Retreat. The retreat has magnificent views of the mountains and valley and is the ideal place for our Christmas getaway. 4 Night Stay: Lookout Mountain Retreat, Dorrigo
Day 2. Thursday – Dorrigo (B,L,D)
Today we make our way to Coffs Harbour for a visit to the Dolphin Marine Conservation Park. This marine park provides an educational, enjoyable and above all ‘hands-on’ experience, enabling you to connect with a variety of species of marine animals. You might even get the opportunity to be kissed by a seal or a dolphin! We enjoy lunch at the marine park before departing for a visit to the Butterfly House. Listen to the informative talk about the butterfly lifecycle, followed by a question and answer time, and a guided tour of The Butterfly House. We then make our way back to the resort to relax. CCP
Day 3. Friday – Dorrigo (B,L,D)
Merry Christmas! This morning we discover the breathtaking natural scenery along the Waterfall Way at Dorrigo. Enjoy a sumptuous selection of traditional and seafood dishes and celebrate the festive day with your fellow guests and crew. Our travels today take us to the historic ‘Mary Boulton Pioneer Cottage’ to discover antiques and memorabilia from the turn of the century and enjoy morning tea in the gardens. Next, we take in South West Rocks and the ruins of the Trial Bay Gaol. This piece of Australian history combines haunting tales with visually stunning scenery. Next, we travel the Nambucca Valley to Taylors Arm and the wellknown ‘Pub With No Beer’. Enjoy a BBQ lunch and good old-fashioned hospitality in this quirky venue, named after the story of the time it was cut off by a flooding Kempsey River and no beer could get through. Our last stop for the day is the Honey Place at Urunga, where we can taste the golden nectar and see the bees at work, before heading back to our accommodation. GGP
