DAY 1. Brisbane to Roma (MT,L,D)
Departing Brisbane Coach Terminal aboard our luxury ‘Diamond Class’ or ‘Gold Class’ coach, we travel through the Lockyer Valley and continue through Toowoomba and Chinchilla to Roma. 1 Night Stay: Roma Explorers Inn
DAY 2. Roma to Blackall (B,L,D)
This morning we continue west, breaking at Tambo to visit Tambo Teddies before we take a tour of the Blackall Woolscour, acknowledged as one of the best industrial heritage sites in Australia. 1 Night Stay: Oasis Motor Inn, Blackall
DAY 3. Blackall – Longreach (B,L,D)
Enjoy breakfast at the Desert Dreaming Centre in Barcaldine, offering an authentic insight into traditional tribal body art and its meanings, dot painting and tribal stories. We then make our way to Ilfracombe for lunch at the historic Wellshot Hotel before continuing on to Longreach. Tonight at sunset, cruise down the mighty Thomson River before dining under an outback sky enjoying a camp oven themed dinner and show. 2 Night Stay: Mitchell Grass Retreat, Longreach
DAY 4. Longreach (B,L,D)
Our morning begins at the Qantas Founders Museum, where we enjoy a private Airpark Tour before exploring the museum and its fascinating aviation history. We then continue to the Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame for a complete outback heritage experience, including the award-winning Museum & Galleries, A Stockman’s Tale cinema presentation, the entertaining Live Outback Stockman’s Show, and the NEW After the Rains immersive experience. This evening, we enjoy dinner at Mitchell Grass Retreat.
DAY 5. Longreach, Winton, Cloncurry (B,L,D)
Travelling to Winton we spend time at the Australian Age of Dinosaurs, the world’s largest collection of unique Australian dinosaur fossils and the most productive fossil preparation lab in the southern hemisphere. Enjoy a guided tour taking in the Fossil Preparation Laboratory and Collection Room and March of the Titanosaurs exhibition at Dinosaur Canyon. 1 Night Stay: Gidgee Inn Motel, Cloncurry
DAY 6. Cloncurry – Karumba (B,MT,L,D)
We travel north to Burke & Wills Roadhouse for a break before continuing onto Normanton for lunch. We stop at the Big Croc for a photo with this life-sized replica of what is said to be the largest croc ever captured before we make our way to Karumba. 2 Night Stay: End of the Road Hotel, Karumba (Diamond), Karumba. DAY 7. Karumba (B,L,D)
Enjoy an enlightening visit to the Barramundi Discovery Centre, where we delve into the intriguing world of barramundi fish. Later, step aboard a sunset dinner cruise and glide through the Gulf’s pristine waters. As the sun sets on the sand island, relish Gulf prawns, nibbles and drinks while absorbing the breathtaking Gulf sunset.
DAY 8. Karumba – Gulflander – Cobbold Gorge (B,MT,L,D)
This morning we travel to Blackbull to board the Gulflander for a scenic rail journey through the Gulf Savannah bushland. We disembark at Croydon, enjoying lunch before continuing to Georgetown to visit the TerrEstrial Centre, a stunning collection of over 4500 specimens. Our next stop is Forsayth, where we break before transferring to Cobbold Gorge. 2 Night Stay: Cobbold Gorge Village
DAY 9. Cobbold Gorge (B,L,D)
Begin your day with an exhilarating helicopter flight, soaring above the breathtaking expanse of the Gulf Savannah region. Next, venture across the glass bridge and embark on a serene electric-powered boat cruise through the gorge. Glide in near-silent tranquillity, minimising disruptions to the local wildlife. Enjoy a delicious lunch and unwind in the idyllic ambiance of this stunning location.
DAY 10. Cobbold Gorge – Savanahlander – Mt Surprise – Undara (B,L,D)
Leaving Cobbold Gorge, we travel to Einasleigh to embark on the Savannahlander rail journey to Mount Surprise, where we rejoin our coach for a transfer to Undara, settling into this restored turn-of-the-century resort. 1 Night Stay: Discovery Resorts, Undara
DAY 11. Mt Surprise – Cairns (B,L,D)
Start the day with a bush breakfast. This morning we team up with a knowledgeable local Savannah guide for an unforgettable journey through the Undara Lava Tubes, ancient formations created over 190,000 years ago, by seismic forces and preserved as natural marvels. Later, our adventure continues as we traverse the picturesque Atherton Tablelands on our way back to Cairns, soaking in the scenic beauty of this captivating region. 1 Night Stay: Shangri-La The Marina, Cairns
DAY 12. End of tour (B)
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before we board a third-party coach for transfer to Cairns Airport for our respective flights home.
