DAY 1. CANBERRA (L,D)
Our flights arrive into Canberra where we board our luxury Diamond Class coach, then traverse through the capital city, enjoying a drive-by tour of Canberra’s International Embassies and High Commissions. The journey takes us to Jamala Wildlife Lodge, where an “Out of Africa” experience awaits. At uShaka Lodge, we enjoy a private guided tour of the zoo, unveiling the wonders of the animal kingdom. Luxuriate in 5-star themed accommodation, choosing from the opulence of Jungle Bungalows, the elevated charm of Giraffe Treehouses, or the elegance of uShaka Lodge. DAY 2. CANBERRA – THREDBO (B,L,D)
Following a leisurely breakfast, the morning unfolds with the freedom to explore the zoo at your own pace. Later we indulge in a lavish long lunch at Courgette, the acclaimed one-hat awarded restaurant, celebrated as one of Canberra’s finest dining experiences. As our journey progresses, we traverse into the breathtaking scenery of Kosciuszko National Park, where rugged mountains, lush forests and alpine meadows create a picturesque landscape. Our destination is Thredbo Village, embraced by ski slopes and hiking trails and home to the delightful Thredbo Alpine Hotel. Soak up the charm of this alpine haven, surrounded by nature’s beauty, promising a serene and rejuvenating retreat in the heart of the mountains. 3 Night Stay: Thredbo Alpine Hotel. *Please note all rooms are only accessible via stairs, the hotel does not have a lift.
DAY 3. THREDBO (B,L,D)
This morning we make our way to the Kosciuszko Express Chairlift for a different kind of ascent. As you ride the Thredbo lift, soak up the stunning mountain views. Here we embark on an optional self-guided walk to Mount Kosciuszko Lookout, a grade 2 hike that is a gentle walk with a distance of 4km return. We then take a seat at Eagles Nest Restaurant, perched high above, and enjoy a delicious lunch while taking in breathtaking panoramic views of Mount Kosciuszko. After lunch we have fun riding the 1.5km long Alpine Coaster. From leisure cruisers to thrill-seekers, riders can control their speed of up to 40km/h travelling along a mix of uphill and downhill tracks. Riders wind their way through a tunnel and over bridges while taking in the stunning alpine environment.
DAY 4. MERRY CHRISTMAS – THREDBO (B,L,D)
Merry Christmas! This morning we gather for a special Fun Over 50 Holidays Christmas message with your crew. Enjoy breakfast before choosing a morning at your leisure or joining your host for the grade 2 Pipeline Path walk, a perfect 3km round trip for those looking for a relaxing stroll through the forest and along the Snowmakers Pond. Dress festive for our Christmas Day long lunch filled with food, friends and a jolly good time. No rush today – slow down to sip and savour Christmas delights. Tonight we regather for a light dinner.
DAY 5. THREDO – SYDNEY (B,L,D)
Today we leave the Alpine region and visit the Snowy Hydro Discovery Centre for a self-guided tour of its exhibits on the hydroelectric scheme. This afternoon takes us on a scenic route travelling via the Southern Highlands into Sydney. 2 Night Stay: Sofitel Sydney Wentworth
DAY 6. SYDNEY (B,L,D)
This morning we set out on an exclusive privately guided tour of the legendary Sydney Opera House, an architectural marvel and UNESCO World Heritage listed masterpiece. As we step inside this globally celebrated venue, our expert guide brings its history to life, sharing captivating stories of its visionary design, groundbreaking engineering innovations and the challenges faced during its ambitious construction. We continue our journey with a scenic lunch cruise on spectacular Sydney Harbour. Relax and indulge in a delicious two-course meal while gliding past the city’s iconic skyline in a truly unforgettable setting. Enjoy uninterrupted 360-degree views of famous landmarks including the Harbour Bridge, Circular Quay and the Royal Botanic Gardens. *Cruise operator caters for gluten free and vegetarian dietary requirements only. DAY 7. FLIGHTS HOME (B)
Enjoy a farewell breakfast before boarding a local operator’s coach and taking a driving tour to view Mrs Macquarie’s Chair and Kings Cross before breaking for lunch at famous Bondi Beach. We are then transferred to Sydney Airport for our respective flights home. *Lunch is at your own expense today.
