DAY 1 – Brisbane to South West Rocks (L,D)
We board our opulent ‘Diamond Class’ coach at Brisbane Coach Terminal to travel south for lunch in New Italy. Our afternoon then takes us through picturesque Coffs Harbour to arrive in South West Rocks. Rockpool Motor Inn, South West Rocks
DAY 2 – Hunter Valley (B,L,D)
Today we take in the stunning scenery of the mid north coast travelling to Port Macquarie, then on through Laurieton. Passing the Great Lakes region we break for lunch before turning inland to the beautiful Hunter Valley. 2 Night Stay: Mercure Resort Hunter Valley
DAY 3 – Hunter Valley, Christmas Lights Spectacular (B,L,D)
This morning we visit Tocal Homestead for a guided tour of this beautiful heritage site. Hear stories of the characters and activities at Tocal over the past 200 years. See the famous barn the colonial architect designed, hear about a lad who went on to become Captain Thunderbolt, and learn about a wealthy businessman’s vision to change the lives of destitute children. Our afternoon is spent in Maitland where we take a guided tour of heritage listed Maitland Gaol. Once housing some of Australia’s most hardened and notorious criminals, today the Gaol has unlocked the gates for us to explore the site. Our evening takes us to the Hunter Valley Gardens for the annual Christmas Lights Spectacular where over 2 million lights are on display and our evening includes a sumptuous Christmas dinner on the Garden Terrace.
DAY 4 – Bathurst, Cowra (B,L,D)
We begin our day enjoying a guided train tour through the Hunter Valley Gardens before travelling through the Goulburn River National Park to arrive in Bathurst. We take our coach on a spin of the Mt Panorama Circuit (events depending) then continue on to Cowra. 2 nights: Breakout Motor Inn or Aalana Motor Inn, Cowra
DAY 5 – Cherry Festival (B,D)
Today the Cherry Festival in Young presents a fabulous full day of quirky and colourful festivities including farmers markets, a car show, busking competitions and dog trials. We also visit Poppa’s Fudge and Jam Factory then finish up our day at the Cherry Festival Street Parade, one of the largest in regional Australia.**Lunch is at own expense today.
DAY 6 – Dubbo (B,L,D)
Leaving Cowra we make our way to the Taronga Western Plains Zoo in Dubbo for lunch and a guided wildlife zoofari. The zoo is an open-range design, with walls and fences replaced by concealed moats which divide the animals from the visitors, creating the breathtaking impression of actually being with the animals in the wild. Overnight: Dubbo RSL Club Motel, Dubbo
DAY 7 – Dubbo to Goondiwindi (B,L,D)
Today we head north through Coonabarabran, Narrabri and Moree to arrive in the cotton capital of Goondiwindi, nestled on the banks of the Macintyre River. After checking-in there’s time to take a refreshing dip in the pool before meeting for dinner. Overnight: Best Western Ascot Lodge, Goondiwindi
DAY 8 – Goondiwindi to Brisbane (B,L)
This morning we visit Goondiwindi Cotton, a fashion house icon which showcases the end product of the local cotton industry. We then travel to Warwick where we take a brief tour of this pretty country town before breaking at the historic Abbey Boutique Hotel ex convent. Enjoy a guided tour followed by lunch, before travelling through the fertile Lockyer Valley to return to Brisbane Coach Terminal.
