Day 1. Brisbane to Stanthorpe (MT,L,D)

Travelling on-board our signature ‘Gold Class’ coach, we depart Brisbane and travel to Summer Land Camels. Enjoy morning tea before Summer Land Camels’ professional cameleers guide you on a behind the scenes tour through the world’s largest wild camel training centre and dairy operation. From here we travel through Cunningham’s Gap, passing through Warwick, stopping at Stanthorpe for a lunch paired with wine experience at Heritage Estate Wines. We then make our way to our accommodation for check-in. Tonight, we dine out at historic O’Mara’s Hotel, built in 1910 on the site of the original single story hotel. The hotel still has the olde world charm that made O’Mara’s a big part of Stanthorpe life. There is even a resident ghost that still makes an appearance now and again. 3 Night Stay: The Vines Motel and Cottages, Stanthorpe

Day 2. Stanthorpe (B,L,D)

Today we set out to travel to Tenterfield, made famous by a song by Peter Allen. Here we collect a local guide for a tour of famous landmarks such as the Tenterfield Saddler. Tenterfield has been home to many famous faces, including politicians, war heroes, and well known celebrities such as Peter Allen and Banjo Patterson. From here we travel via the Pyramid enroute to Ballandean Estate Wines for a tour and wine tasting experience. Next we take a short journey to Washpool Skin Wellness, a Farm Soaperie and is the home of ethical, authentic and nourishing giftware and everyday home, bath and body care. Enjoy lunch at Blue Pot Pantry, a former vineyard with magic views over Stanthorpe. Our afternoon takes us to Kents Saddlery for a behind the scenes guided tour for an insight to a handcrafted leather workshop, talk with Saddlers and hear the history of Saddlery. Tonight, we dine out at Anna’s Italian Restaurant.

Day 3. Stanthorpe (B,L,D)

This morning takes us on a history tour at Amiens Legacy Centre. The centre is the site of a memorial to the Pikedale Soldier Settlers from WW1. Built by volunteers on the site of the original rail terminus at Amiens. Join a guided tour and see the rail carriage has been restored in a manner “fit for a prince” and contains stories and artifacts of the settlement and information about the original soldiers and their families, where they took up their blocks, and how life was in those times. Next, step back in time at Stanthorpe Heritage Museum, housing two collections of national significance and one of state significance. Subjects include pastoral, tin mining, orcharding, military, Aboriginal, Italian, Red Cross, medical, ‘Make-do’ and social history. Next enjoy a wee bit of early Christmas spirit, with a visit to the Granite Belt Christmas Farm. Step through the doors and capture the magic of Christmas in the Mistletoe Boutique Christmas Store. We break for lunch here, explore and feed Santa’s animals, including Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer and see the farm of 11,000 real Christmas trees. Afterwards taste local wines and liquors at Castle Glen Vineyard & Liqueurs, the only Whiskey manufacturer in Queensland offering all natural world class liqueurs, red wine, white wine, sparkling wine and fortified wines.

Day 4. Return to Brisbane (B,MT,L)

We farewell our lovely hosts at Stanthorpe and travel via Warwick to Bestbrook Mountain Resort for morning tea and wagon ride around the property. You will enjoy the old fashioned hospitality and magnificent mountain views. Wander around the property, check out the collection of old machinery and all the treasures from yesteryear hidden throughout the Coach House. Back on the road we take a scenic country drive via Boonah to Beaudesert where we enjoy a long lunch at The Overflow Estate 1895. The Estate is truly a special haven of mystic reverence and unsurpassed rural beauty and this long lunch will be a grand finale to our wine country capers.
