DAY1 – MELBOURNE – EUCHA (AT,D)
Fly into Melbourne and board our luxury ‘Gold Class’ coach. We hit the road and make our way to Heathcote Winery where we enjoy wine tasting and platters. From here we make a short journey to Echuca. 1 Night Stay: Mercure Port of Echuca
DAY 2 – ABOARD PS EMMYLOU (B,MT,L,D)
After breakfast we join a local guide for a coach tour that takes us around the districts Moama and Echuca, showing us the history of the Murray River and its paddle steamers. On return from our guided tour we explore the heritage museum depicting local history with artifacts, costumes, photographs and documents tracing early settler life. Across from here wander through the National Holden Motor Museum one of the nation’s largest collections of Holdens, putting this private museum amongst the largest single brand car museums in Australia. We gather for lunch at the historic Bridge Hote lbefore we make our way to check-in to the PS Emmylou. Discover leisurely cruising over 160km’s of the winding upper Murray River cruising aboard a traditional wood-fired Paddle-steamer. Departing Echuca downriver, enjoy a welcome afternoon tea as you begin to relax and enjoy the sights and sounds of the river. As the sun starts to set over the river, enjoy an evening cocktail before your chef prepared welcome dinner. Tonight, we moor at the famous Perricoota Station. Rich in history, the property was first settled by James Maiden in 1843, and famous for starring in the TV movie “All the Rivers Run”. 3 Night Stay: PS Emmylou
DAY 3 – ABOARD PS EMMYLOU (B,L,D)
This morning we travel to the small town of Barmah where we take a guided eco cruise. Glide through the World-Heritage listed Barmah Wetlands, enjoy a lovely picnic lunch riverside, before we continue to visit the region’s largest winery St Anne’s. Enjoy a short winery tour then taste their fabulous table and fortified wines, and sample delicious Echuca Cheeses and Chocolates all made from local produce. Join the Skipper for a guided tour of the gardens and buildings before Emmylou continues upriver towards Deep Creek Marina. Tonight, it’s movie night, with a special presentation of ‘Riverboats Remembered’ a fabulous historical presentation about the riverboats of the mid 1850’s along the Murray River.
DAY 4 – ABOARD PS EMMYLOU (B,L,D)
PS Emmylou departs on a full day of cruising towards our Layfield Mooring. Enjoy breakfast on the deck then relax with a good book or just take in the river views and wildlife as Emmylou steams her way up stream. Tonight, you will enjoy our signature grand dining gourmet Australian BBQ. Join your fellow passenger sat the riverside grand dining table, star lit by the Southern Cross and candles. After dinner enjoy some yarns sitting around the campfire before retiring for the evening.
DAY 5 – EUCHA (B,L,D)
This morning before breakfast early rises can enjoy a riverside stroll before PS Emmylou then departs for the Port of Echuca where we reluctantly say farewell. On return disembark and re-board your ‘Gold Class’ coach. We start our day with an intriguing tour of the Great Aussie Beer Shed & Heritage Farm Museum, the only one of its kind in Australia. This tour will take you right back down memory lane with an unbelievable display of Aussie Icon paraphernalia including over 17,000 beer cans from Australia and around the world. Other interesting and related items include tap tops, handles, barrels, bottles, signs, brewery manufacturing equipment and machinery. DAY 6 – BENDIGO (B,L,D)
We travel to the gold mining town of Bendigo arriving at the Central Deborah Gold Mine. Here, walk in the footsteps of miners who discovered almost one tonne of the world’s most precious metal. Next, we board the vintage ‘Talking Tram’ to be delighted by the grand architecture of Bendigo as the tram tells of the city’s golden past. Following lunch, we visit the Golden Dragon Museum – a living history of the Chinese people of Bendigo from the goldrush of the 1850’s to the present day. Having become the hub of Chinese cultural activity in Australia, experience first-hand Chinese arts and crafts with visiting artisans and tradespeople.
DAY 7 – SWAN HILL (B,L,D)
This morning we follow the Murray River through Kerang on to Swan Hill where we spend time at Swan Hill Pioneer Settlement. Presenting 100 years of history on the banks of the Murray River discover a variety of working displays, buildings, restorations, and exhibits. From horse and carriage rides to restored vintage car rides, the Pioneer Settlement showcases Australian history with a hands-on journey.
DAY 8 – GLENROWAN – MELBOURNE (B,L,D)
Enjoy a later start todaywhere we depart Echuca travellingthrough Shepparton to Ned Kellycountry, Glenrowan. Witness ‘Ned Kelly’s Last Stand’, a light and sound show that is are-enactment of the events that led up to the capture and hanging of Ned Kelly. Departing Glenrowan, we make our way to Melbourne CBD for our last night together in 5-star luxury. 1 Night Stay: Sofitel Hotel, Melbourne
DAY 9 – MELBOURNE (B)
We have arranged a late check-out this morning for you to enjoy free time in vibrant Melbourne. Famous laneways are buzzing with shopping arcades, street art, cafés, bars and boutiques, all with their own individual character and charm. Meet back at the hotel lobby at 12pm for transfers to the airport for your respective flights home.
