DAY 1. ADELAIDE (D)
Fly Carbon Neutral to Adelaide arriving mid-afternoon where we board our ‘Diamond Class’ coach and make our way to through the city of Adelaide to the Clare Valley for an overnight stay. Overnight: Clare Country Club
DAY 2. PORT AUGUSTA (B,L,D)
Step back in time at beautiful Bungaree Station this morning on a guided tour and gain an authentic insight into 19th century station life. Hear how Bungaree became the headquarters of an extensive sheep station with 100 thousand merino sheep. Now 178 years later, it is an efficient mixed farm run by the descendants of the original founder. Enjoy lunch at Port Broughton before continuing on to Port Augusta where we visit the Wadlata Outback Centre’s ‘Tunnel of Time’. Learn about the origins of the outback, hear Aboriginal stories, and discover tales of pioneer explorers and settlers. Overnight: Standpipe Golf Motor Inn, Port Augusta
DAY 3. PORT LINCOLN (B,L,D)
Today we head to Whyalla on the Spencer Gulf, taking a guided tour of the ‘One Steel’ Steelworks operations, followed by a local sight-seeing tour. See ‘The Loaded Dog’ of Henry Lawson fame and visit ‘Hummock Hill’ for panoramic views of Whyalla, Spencer Gulf, Southern Flinders Ranges and Middleback Ranges. We then make our way to Port Lincoln. 2 nights: Port Lincoln Hotel
DAY 4. PORT LINCOLN (B,L,D)
This morning enjoy a tour of Axel Stenross Maritime Museum, before we visit Boston Bay Wines for lunch and a tasting. This afternoon we join Adventure Bay Cruises for a 2-hour Seafood Bay Cruise, learning about tuna farming and aquaculture industries. Cruise the waters of the largest, most sheltered harbour in the world and learn things that only a local would know. We visit The Old Mill and take a drive along the foreshore of Port Lincoln viewing the statue of Melbourne Cup winner Makybe Diva on our way to board a cruise that will take the canals of the Lincoln Cove Marina, Porter Bay, Boston Bay, Port Lincoln National Park, Boston Island, our local Sea Lion colony and views of Port Lincoln that can only be seen from the water. Enjoy local seasonal seafood such as: prawns, mussels, sashimi tuna and kingfish. To truly appreciate Port Lincoln seafood, this tour is a necessity for all visitors and even a local or two.
DAY 5. STREAKY BAY (B,L,D)
Today we venture to Coffin Bay, taking the ‘Short and Sweet Oyster Farm Tour’ experience. Learn the history of oyster farming from the farmer himself along the way. Six freshly shucked oysters are included in the tour price, and for true oyster lovers who want to indulge in a few more fresh morsels, extra oysters will also be available for purchase during the tour. Next, we head to Elliston, known for its rugged coastline and pristine beaches where a local guide will join us to give commentary whilst we drive along the Great Ocean View. This is a section of clifftop roadway with remarkable views of the Great Australian Bight and Waterloo Bay. We continue on to Murphy’s Haystacks, an unusually shaped set of granite outcrops estimated to be nearly 1500 million years old. Next, we journey on to Streaky Bay to check-in to our accommodation. *Please note: For those who do not eat oysters, there is no alternative offered. This is part of the tour experience. DAY 6. PORT AUGUSTA (B,L,D)
Heading east we pass through Poochera, then on to Minnipa, gateway to the Gawler Ranges and visit Pildappa Rock, an impressive granite outcrop that rivals the famous ‘Wave Rock’ in Western Australia. After morning tea we travel to Wudinna, before making our way to Kimba, the halfway point across Australia. We visit the Big Galah & painted silos before finishing our day at The Australian Arid Lands Botanic Garden at Port Augusta. Overnight: Standpipe Golf Motor Inn, Port Augusta
DAY 7. BAROSSA VALLEY (B,L,D)
Today we leave Port Augusta and head for Melrose at the foot of Mt Remarkable. Enjoy some free time here exploring the village and sites such as the old Courthouse and Police Station. We then head to Burra for lunch and a street walk, before our afternoon’s travel takes us into the Barossa Valley. After a sumptuous lunch of local produce we make our way to Barossa Valley Chocolate Company to pair the regions wines with their decadent chocolates. Overnight: Barossa Weintal Hotel
DAY 8. BAROSSA VALLEY (B,L,D)
This morning we take in the expansive views of the Barossa Valley from Mengler Hill. We then make our way to Seppeltsfield Winery. Located on the ‘Western Ridge’ of the Barossa Valley, Seppeltsfield combines over 420 acres of vineyard, gardens and heritage-listed architecture. Our guided tour takes us behind the scenes to look through the estate’s treasure trove of historical buildings. We learn the Seppelt family history, enjoy a tasting and discover the Homestead verandah, Elm Walk, distillery and underground blending cellar. We enjoy a Barossa style lunch before our afternoon takes us back to Adelaide for our last night together. Overnight: Hilton Hotel, Adelaide
DAY 9. FAREWELL ADELAIDE (B)
This morning we enjoy breakfast before we board a local coach transfer to the airport for our respective Carbon Neutral flights home.
