Step back in time at beautiful Bungaree Station this morning on a guided tour and gain an authentic insight into 19th century station life. Hear how Bungaree become the headquarters of an extensive sheep station with 100 thousand merino sheep. Now 178 years later, it is an efficient mixed farm run by the descendants of the original founder. Enjoy lunch at Port Broughton before continuing on to Port Augusta where we visit the Wadlata Outback Centre’s ‘Tunnel of Time’. Learn about the origins of the outback, hear Aboriginal stories, and discover tales of pioneer explorers and settlers. Overnight: Standpipe Golf Motor Inn, Port Augusta

Today we head to Whyalla on the Spencer Gulf, taking a guided tour of the ‘One Steel’ Steelworks operations, followed by a local sight-seeing tour. See ‘The Loaded Dog’ of Henry Lawson fame and visit ‘Hummock Hill’ for panoramic views of Whyalla, Spencer Gulf, Southern Flinders Ranges and Middleback Ranges. We then make our way to Port Lincoln. 2 nights: Port Lincoln Hotel

This morning enjoy a tour of Axel Stenross Maritime Museum, before we visit Boston Bay Wines for lunch and a presentation from the comical chef. This afternoon we join Adventure Bay Cruises for a 2-hour seafood bay cruise, learning about tuna farming and aquaculture industries. Cruise the waters of the largest, most sheltered harbour in the world and learn things that only a local would know. The cruise will take in the canals of the Lincoln Cove Marina, Porter Bay, Boston Bay, Port Lincoln National Park, Boston Island, our local Sea Lion colony and views of Port Lincoln that can only be seen from the water. Enjoy local seasonal seafood such as: prawns, mussels, sashimi tuna and kingfish. To truly appreciate Port Lincoln seafood, this tour is a necessity for all visitors and even a local or two.

Today we visit The Old Mill and take a drive along the foreshore of Port Lincoln viewing the statue of Melbourne Cup winner Makybe Diva. Then we venture to Coffin Bay, taking the ‘Short and Sweet Oyster Farm Tour’ experience. Learn the history of oyster farming from the farmer himself along the way. 6 freshly shucked oysters are included in the tour price, and for true oyster lovers who want to indulge in a few more fresh morsels, extra oysters will also be available for purchase during the tour. Next, we head to Elliston known for its rugged coastline and pristine beaches. After lunch a local guide will join us to give commentary whilst we drive along the Great Ocean View, a section of cliff top roadway with remarkable views of the Great Australian Bight and Waterloo Bay. We continue on to Murphy’s Haystacks, an unusually shaped set of granite outcrops estimated to be nearly 1500 million years old. Next, we journey on to Streaky Bay to check-in to our accommodation. **Please note: For those who do not eat oysters, there is no alternative offered. This is part of the tour experience. Overnight: Streaky Bay Hotel

Heading east we pass through Poochera, then on to Minnipa, gateway to the Gawler Ranges and visit Pildappa Rock, an impressive granite outcrop that rivals the famous ‘Wave Rock’ in Western Australia.
