Day 1. Arrive Norfolk Island (D)
Depart on our Carbon Neutral Qantas Flight from Brisbane International Airport to Norfolk Island Airport. Upon arrival, we will be greeted with a welcome to the historic island and transferred to our hotel, checking in to garden view rooms. This evening we progress to different Norfolk Island family homes, as a great way to meet the locals and sample the local produce on a progressive dinner party. 7 Night Stay: South Pacific Resort Hotel, Norfolk Island
Day 2. Norfolk Island (B,L,D)
Meet the locals this morning as we make our way to the local markets. Enjoy live music, beautiful handcrafts and artwork, delicious sweets and treats. After lunch we set off on a Convict Kingston tour for an in-depth tour of the historic settlement of Kingston. Visiting the cemetery, we learn the history of convict and colonial headstones and stories of the houses along Quality Row. Walk through the ruins of the New Gaol and see the Pier Store, Boat Shed and Crank Mill. Tonight we dine at Governors Lodge.
Day 3. Norfolk Island (B,MT,L,D)
Spend a delightful day touring Norfolk Island on the Island Life tour, gaining a true insight into the intricate nature of modern island life. Hear about daily life on the Island from a locals’ perspective – how they live, learn, work and play. Learn about how the island generates its electricity, gains its supply of gas, ships in petroleum products, food and the material needs of life. The making of roads, the maintenance of medical, health services and environmental issues are explained. This afternoon visit The World of Norfolk exhibition, home to 14 interpretive displays, featuring stunning photography.
Day 4. Norfolk Island (B,L,D)
Today we ‘walk the plank’ to board the glass bottom boat cruise (tide dependant) and discover Norfolk’s lagoon marine life and coral gardens whilst cruising through the calm waters of Emily Bay. After lunch at the hotel we venture out again to meet some passionate local producers on the Taste of Norfolk tour. Visit a bee-keepers home, a saltmakers home, taste and discover Island liqueurs and watch a cooking demonstration. Tonight we celebrate Christmas Eve with a three course dinner.
Day 5. Christmas Day – Norfolk Island (B,L,D)
Merry Christmas! We meet for a festive breakfast together. Today is your day to relax and enjoy the facilities at the hotel as all venues are closed on Christmas Day. The highlight today is gathering for your Christmas Day lunch with all the trimmings, which will be one to remember! A light dinner will be provided tonight.
Day 6. Norfolk Island (B,L,D)
After a leisurely start to Boxing Day we visit Fletchers Mutiny Cyclorama and Gallery Guava, outstanding attractions displaying impressive artwork. This afternoon is yours to enjoy at your leisure. Tonight, we watch the sun set from Puppy’s Point, one of Norfolk’s majestic clifftops on the beautiful western Coastline, as we enjoy a fish fry feast of the island dishes with local entertainment. We then visit Wonderland by Night to walk amongst the forest of enchanting illuminated Norfolk Pines, listening to recitals of bush poetry written by Bounty mutineer descendant ‘Archie Biggs’.
Day 7. Norfolk Island (B,L,D)
This morning we visit a beautiful property in Kingston called Music Valley, with historical significance and an amazing artifact collection.This afternoon we join the Pitcairn Settlers Village tour, one of the last remaining original settlers properties on the island. Then to top off a fabulous day, tonight, we dress in convict outfits (provided) for a ‘Night as a Convict’ – a fun filled night of feasting, singing, dancing, laughter and convict mayhem!
Day 8. Flights to Brisbane (B,L)
This morning we take a leisurely 3.5km breakfast bushwalk tour, meandering through scenic Mount Bates to the Captain Cook Monument and ending at the clifftops with a delicious breakfast barbeque. After lunch we make our way to the airport on Qantas flight due to arrive late afternoon to Brisbane. SEE YORLYE GANE!
