DAY 1. 22 Dec – Brisbane to K’Gari (Fraser Island) (MT,L,D)
Board one of our signature ‘Gold Class’ coaches at Brisbane Coach Terminal on Roma Street, sit back and relax as we make our way to the Fraser Coast. A bite to eat on the Hervey Bay Marina before our arrival at River Heads. We board the 3pm ferry to Wanggoolba Creek where we are met and transferred to our accommodation on K’gari. 2 nights: Eurong Beach Resort, K’Gari (Fraser Island)
DAY 2. 23 Dec – K’GARI (FRASER ISLAND) (B,L,D)
Board the 4WD safari coach and join resident ranger guide. Sit back and cruise the golden beach highway 75 Mile Beach the ‘spine of Fraser Island’, running from Hook Point to Great Sandy Cape. See the Maheno Shipwreck and hear about its intriguing history. From here we head onto Eli Creek where you can relax on the sandy banks or wade through the invigorating shallow waters. We then venture on to The Pinnacles Coloured Sands – a magical location where we will hear the Dreamtime story of how these rainbow coloured cliffs came to be. On to the base of Indian Head, the most easterly point of the island, where marine life such as turtles and rays are often spotted. A highlight of the day will be the Champagne Pools, where you can take a dip a natural ocean jacuzzi, a natural rock pool filled by crashing waves. From here we make our way back to Eurong Beach Resort.
**Please note: Tour is not suitable for passengers with neck/back injury as some parts of the journey can be bumpy and jerky.
DAY 3. 24 Dec – K’GARI (FRASER ISLAND) (B,L,D)
Checking out of Eurong Beach Resort we again board our 4WD safari coach to explore other areas of Fraser Island en-route to Kingfisher Bay Resort. We take in the sites of Lake McKenzie breaking here for a refreshing dip or relax on the sandy white silica beaches of this picture-perfect perched dune lake. From here we continue to Central Station to view the interpretive displays while our guide provides insight into a former logging station. Discover ancient King Ferns as you stroll along the Central Station boardwalk, purposely built alongside the clear freshwater creek. At Pile Valley walk through subtropical rainforests growing in sand and learn about the island’s famous Satinay Trees. From here we travel to Kingfisher Bay Resort to enjoy lunch poolside before check-in. 3 nights: King Fisher Bay Resort, K’Gari (Fraser Island)
DAY 4. 25 Dec – Merry Christmas (B,L,D)
Today celebrate Christmas Day the Fraser Island way! We all get together for a festive breakfast followed by a free morning to relax or walk along the beach. We gather in the Grand Ballroom for a sensational festive feast consisting of fresh seafood and traditional Christmas selections. Dinner this evening will be a relaxed affair serving up a light dinner to graze upon whilst enjoying entertainment in the Maheno Lounge.
DAY 5. 26 Dec – K’GARI (FRASER ISLAND) (B,L,D)
Today we split into groups with a morning and afternoon cruise and free time either side. This eco marine adventure cruises along the western coast of K’gari, and explores the remarkable sights of the UNESCO-awarded Great Sandy Biosphere. Our local skipper and resort ranger will showcase the remarkable, untouched landscapes, offering guided walks and talks as we explore this idyllic natural paradise. Spot marine life along the way, including turtles, dugongs and dolphins, plus a range of coastal and migratory birds. We regather this afternoon and are privileged to have resort ranger and chef join us for an exclusive Bush Tucker Talk and Taste. Tantalise your taste buds with a selection of unique bush cuisine and find out how these foods can be used to enhance most dishes. Ranger presents a selection of foods in their natural and raw state and explains where you can find these foods. Chef will then show us how to use them, share some recipe secrets and present the cooked dishes for us to taste. When the day’s exploring is done, it’s time to take the taste-buds on a voyage of their own, join us for dinner in the award winning Seabelle Restaurant where we dine in style to celebrate our final night together.
DAY 6. 27 Dec – K’GARI (FRASER ISLAND) to Brisbane (B,L)
A leisurely breakfast this morning before checking out from the resort and taking the 10:30am ferry back to River Heads. Board our luxury ‘Gold Class’ coach where we slowly make our way back to Brisbane Transit Centre, breaking for lunch en-route..
