Day 1. Melbourne to King Island (L,D)

Flying Carbon Neutral into Melbourne, we transfer for our flight to King Island. This peaceful paradise greets us with beautiful beaches and world class produce, including succulent beef, rich gourmet cheese and the freshest seafood. We check-in, then make our way to King Island Dairy to learn about the local dairy industry and enjoy a tasting of their renowned cheeses. Our local guide then takes us on a Town Tour of Currie, the island’s main township, to stroll the streets before returning to our hotel. This evening we dine at the motel.

**Please note: Accommodation on King Island is a mix of motel rooms and cabins which can be requested at time of booking. Itinerary scheduling may vary on tour depending on King Island weather and flight times. 3 Night Stay: Island Breeze Motel, Currie

Day 2. King Island (B,MT,L,D)

Today takes us to the north of the island, where we start by visiting Shag Lagoon, a premium bird watching spot home to many migratory birds, including the endangered Orange-bellied Parrot. We break in Quarantine Bay for morning tea where we learn about Whistler Point, Christmas Island and New Year Island. We learn all about the Shannon Wreck site at Yellow Rock River. From Paddock to Plate, we enjoy lunch made on the property from home-grown products. Next we continue on to Cape Wickham Lighthouse, the tallest in the southern hemisphere, then head across the Cape Wickham Golf Course, the number one ranked public course in Australia. We travel on to Disappointment Bay, Penny’s Lagoon and Martha Lavinia Beach, considered one of the world’s best surf breaks. After dinner, we go down to the harbour to watch the local penguins making their way home for the night.

Day 3. King Island (B,L,D)

Heading south today, we visit King Island’s Kelp Factory, discovering one of the island’s largest industries. At British Admiral Beach we see where harvesters collect the kelp which is then processed for a wide variety of uses. At the seaside township of Naracoopa we visit Sea Elephant Bay which is steeped in history. On our way to the intriguing Calcified Forest we learn about King Island’s first settling family at Surprise Bay. We’ll take in views of King Island’s spectacular rugged coastline, home to Australia’s worst peacetime maritime disaster, then travel to Seal Rocks and Ettrick Bay. At Millers Bay we view the island’s advanced hybrid power station. This evening we dine at View Dining, where the menu incorporates many of King Island’s products.
