Day 1. Melbourne to King Island

Flight details: SH Melbourne (Essendon) – King Island 0815/0900

On arrival to King Island we are met by our expert local guide for a true King Island introduction before enjoying lunch at the King Island Hotel. We later check into our accommodation – Island Breeze Motel, and enjoy your welcome dinner, prepared by a local chef. (L,D)

Day 2. King Island

Visit King Island Kelp Industries before travelling through the Island’s most productive farming land. Morning tea at the Currie harbour boathouse, before travelling to the east coast to Naracoopa and continuing our way into Grassy harbour. Lunch stop at the King Island Boat Club harbour-side. On to Surprise Bay followed by a visit to a very rare calcified forest with views over some of King Island’s most spectacular coastline. Discover Seal Rocks lookout before our drive back to our accommodation via Ettrick Bay and Millers Bay. Dinner at Wild Harvest Restaurant and the opportunity to view the local fairy penguin colony. Day 3. King Island

Today we travel to Shag Lagoon bird hide followed by morning tea at Quarantine Bay. We visit the mouth of Yellow Rock River before making our way to Penny’s Lagoon. From here we visit Martha Lavinia beach and then experience a ‘Meat Your Beef’ local farming tour, followed by a special ‘Paddock to Plate’ lunch on a rural property. After lunch we continue to Lake Flannigan and on to Disappointment Bay, featuring the Cape Wickham Lighthouse, followed by a visit to Egg Lagoon and finally the famous King Island Dairy to sample some of the delicious local cheese. Day 4. Depart King Island

Today after a leisurely breakfast and checkout, we farewell our delightful host Julie before visiting the King Island Historical Society Museum. We arrive at the King Island Airport for our return flight back to Melbourne. (B,L)
