DAY 1. BRISBANE – STANTHORPE (MT,L,D)
Board our luxury ‘Gold Class’ coach at Brisbane Coach Terminal on Roma Street, to travel through Cunningham’s Gap to Maryvale, breaking at Bestbrook Mountain Resort for Devonshire morning tea and wagon ride. Enjoy good old-fashioned country hospitality and magnificent mountain views. Admire the collection of old machinery and treasures from yesteryear hidden throughout the Coach House. We venture on through the country township of Warwick, arriving at Heritage Estate Winery to enjoy a long lunch which comes perfectly paired with wines. Before arriving at our hotel, we stop for a visit to the main street in Stanthorpe to wander through the myriad of local shops. Tonight, we dine at O’Mara’s Heritage Hotel for dinner. 3 nights: The Vines Motel and Cottages, Stanthorpe
DAY 2. STANTHORPE (B,L,D)
Today brings the beginning of the Fun Over Fifty Inaugural Lawn Bowls Championship! Two mornings of lawn bowls with friendly competition suited to beginners or advanced bowlers. Take to the greens with other travellers to partake in a morning of fun and laughs and no doubt a little competitiveness! After the last bowl is sent down to the jack, we make our way to the Queensland College of Wine Tourism to wind down and who will present us with locally sourced medley of mains paired to local wines. Board the coach for a short drive to Castle Glen Wines, renowned for world class Liqueurs, Wine, Beer and Spirits, all made using the finest natural ingredients. Enjoy time here tasting the vast range of products, ‘try before you buy’. Dinner this evening is at Anna’s Restaurant.
DAY 3. STANTHORPE (B,L,D)
Day two of our friendly lawn bowls competition today as we return to the Stanthorpe Bowls Club greens and send the jack down ready for another morning of mixed competition. A few prizes are on offer today and of course the crowning of the winners of the inaugural competition! Rest, unwind, share stories and celebrate afterwards as we take a tour and tasting at the Ballandean Estate Winery. Tempt your taste buds with amazing sensations and maybe pick up a bottle or two to take home. Next, we make our way to the Jamworks Larder who stock local jams, butters, marmalades, jellies, pickles and much more. Enjoy some free time tomaybe wander downtown before dining out tonight.
DAY 4. STANTHORPE – BRISBANE (B,MT,L)
This morning takes us to Kents Saddlery for a behind the scenes guided tour for an insight to a handcrafted leather workshop, talk with Saddlers and hear the history of Saddlery. Back on the road, we take a scenic country drive via Boonah to Beaudesert where we enjoy a long lunch at The Overflow Estate 1895. The Estate is truly a special haven of mystic reverence and unsurpassed rural beauty and this long lunch will be a grand finale to our lawn bowls tour.
