DAY 1. Brisbane to Hervey Bay (MT,L,D)

Board our signature ‘Gold Class’ coach and travel responsibly knowing all coach emissions are 100% offset. Sit back and relax as we make our way to the Fraser Coast, breaking near the Glass House Mountains, for a unique farm experience and stunning views. Meet and greet with the cuddly camels, all while you enjoy a delicious morning tea and camel milk tasting session. We continue onto Maryborough for lunch before we join our local Maryborough storyteller for a city sights tour of the amazing heritage buildings. Next, we drive a short distance to the coastal township of Hervey Bay to check-in to our hotel situated on the Urangan Marina. Enjoy the lovely water and marina views from your room during our stay. 5 Night Stay: Mantra Hervey Bay **Please note: As accommodation is apartment style, there is no service to rooms during our stay.

DAY 2. Hervey Bay Whale Watch Cruise (B,MT,L,D)

Today we take to the water in Australia’s humpback playground. Enjoy a 5-hour Whale Watch cruise and get up close and personal with these majestic creatures as they glide and play alongside our vessel. In addition to an incredible experience observing humpback whales in their natural environment, you’ll enjoy a real time commentary about all local marine mammals (humpback whales, dolphins, dugongs, sharks, turtles and bird life) as well as some local history of K’gari (Fraser Island) and the traditional land owners, the Butchulla people.

DAY 3. Fraser Island (B,L,D)

We are off to K’gari (Fraser Island) – paradise! The island has rainforests, eucalyptus woodland, mangrove forests, wallum and peat swamps, sand dunes and coastal heaths. It is made up of sand that has been accumulating for approximately 750,000 years on volcanic bedrock that provides a natural catchment for the sediment which is carried on a strong offshore current northwards along the coast. Our guided tour will tell tales of the tribes that occupied the paradise of K’gari (Fraser Island) at least 5000 years ago. As we discover the world’s largest sand island, our off-road adventure takes us tackling inland bumps and humps through towering Satinay trees, followed by a boardwalk through majestic beauty of nature as rainforests and rare plant life surround the area. We unearth shipwrecks and sheltered bays and take plenty of time to stop and enjoy the view. Climb Indian Head and gaze down upon schools of fish, sharks, dolphins, rays and turtles, enjoying their own sea safari. We also stop off at picturesque Lake McKenzie taking time here for a swim in the water which shines sapphire blue, surrounded with shores of snow-white sand. Late afternoon, we board the ferry back to the mainland and return to the hotel for dinner. **Please note: 4WD tour is not suitable for passengers with back and/or neck injury due to certain parts of the track being rugged and jerky.

DAY 4. Bundaberg (B,L,D)

Today we discover the town of Bundaberg, starting with a visit to the Bundaberg Botanical Gardens. From here, take your time to explore Hinkler Hall of Aviation, an interactive museum that tells the story of the all-too-short life of Australian pioneer aviator Bert Hinkler. Become part of Bert’s story through glide and flight simulators, movie theatrettes, six display aircraft and a vintage motor vehicle. We take a short trip from Bundaberg, stopping along the way at the Hummock lookout, before continuing to the coast to enjoy lunch at the quaint Windmill Café. After lunch we make our way to the Bundaberg Rum Distillery. After you have spent some time exploring the museum, join a distillery guide on a journey deep into the heart of the Bundaberg Rum Distillery. Once you have experienced the sights and smells of the distillery, you will return to the Bundaberg Rum Tasting Bar, where you can sample some of the top shelf rums.

DAY 5. Snakes Downunder, Reefworld Aquarium(B,L,D)

This morning we spend time at Snakes Downunder Reptile Park and Zoo where they display over 45 species and subspecies of Australian reptiles, amphibians and marsupials. We enjoy a snake show followed by an up close and personal Koala encounter. Next, we make our way to the country township of Apple Tree Creek where we have lunch followed by a visit to Reefworld Aquarium Hervey Bay, home to many different species of marine life. Take a delightful stroll and explore the beauty that is displayed in the feature tanks where these ocean animals reside. Get hands on and participate in feeding the marine life as the Green Sea Turtles, Sharks and large reef fish are all fed daily. Afterwards, we make our way back to our apartment.

DAY 6. Arrive Brisbane (B)

Homeward bound this morning, after we enjoy one more breakfast. We hit the road and make our way to the town of Gympie and enjoy a ride on the historic and meticulously restored Mary Valley Rattler steam train, travelling from Gympie to Amamoor. In Amamoor we re-join the coach and make our way to Mary Caincross, here we enjoy lunch at the Mountain View Café followed by a visit to the Rainforest Discovery Centre. Back on the road, we travel via the Glass House Mountain lookout, then arrive at the Brisbane Coach Terminal in the late afternoon.
