Day 1: Spirit of Queensland Cairns to Tully
Join the Spirit of Queensland this morning and travel through picturesque landscapes from Cairns to Tully. On arrival in Tully, transfer from Tully Railway Station to your accommodation in Mission Beach. This little hidden gem is situated just south of Cairns and is the perfect place to catch a glimpse of the endangered Cassowary in the rainforest or try your hand at beach, reef or estuary fishing. Stay the next three nights at Castaways Resort and Spa, Mission Beach.
Day 2: Yunba Guided Rainforest Walk
This morning enjoy a unique and authentic Aboriginal experience. Enjoy a guided walk to the beautiful healing pond’ with an interpretation of the rainforest environment. Learn about the story of Yunba (the black water python) and how this mystical character healed the sick and wounded. Taste billy tea and damper and sit back and enjoy the day with your guide. (B)
Day 3: Mission Beach
Enjoy a leisurely day exploring Mission Beach. Nestled against lush tropical rainforest, Mission Beach is home to a variety of restaurants, galleries, gift stores and boutiques. Explore the beaches by kayak, fish from the beach or hire a boat to a deserted tropical island. Walk up to the top of Bicton Hill for awesome views over to Dunk and Hinchinbrook Islands while hopefully spotting a Cassowary on the way. (B)
Day 4: Spirit of Queensland Tully to Proserpine
Transfer from your accommodation back to Tully to re-join the Spirit of Queensland. Wind your way down the coast and arrive in the early evening at Proserpine. Transfer by RailBus Coach Connection to your accommodation in Airlie Beach. The gateway to the 74 Whitsunday Islands and the Great Barrier Reef, Airlie Beach is a lively coastal hub where the atmosphere is relaxed and there’s so much to do every day of the week. Explore the Port of Airlie precinct with a range of shops, restaurants, parklands, marina and the sandy Boathaven Beach. Stay the next three nights at Coral Sea Resort, Airlie Beach. (B)
Day 5: Great Barrier Reef Cruise
Cruise through the Whitsunday Islands National Park en route to the outer Great Barrier Reef. Spend the day exploring the underwater wonderland and be awed by the magnificent corals and abundance of fish and marine life. Throughout the day enjoy morning and afternoon tea and a sumptuous buffet lunch prepared by the onboard chef. (B,L)
Day 6: Airlie Beach
Spend the day at leisure exploring the village of Airlie Beach with its relaxed atmosphere and collection of eclectic shops and cafés. (B)
Day 7: Spirit of Queensland Proserpine to Brisbane
This morning is at leisure, before transferring back to Proserpine on the RailBus Coach Connection to re-join the Spirit of Queensland and continue your southbound trip. Overnight on board the Spirit of Queensland. (B,D)
Day 8: Brisbane
Arrive into Brisbane this afternoon where your holiday concludes. (B)
