Day 1: Wednesday – Longreach
Arrive in Longreach by QantasLink flight or Spirit of the Outback train where you will be met by your Savannah Guides Operator driver-guide and transferred to your accommodation. 2 nights Saltbush Retreat, Longreach
Day 2: Thursday – Longreach (B,L,D)
Enjoy a warm Outback welcome at the historic Rosebank Station. Join a guided station tour, followed by morning tea and stories of yesteryear. In 1959, Rosebank welcomed Princess Alexandra and Princess Alice, who stayed in a specially built wing, fittingly named the ‘Princess Wing’. Discover the story behind Australia’s national airline at the Qantas Founders Museum, followed by a guided Airpark Tour. Later this afternoon, experience the hospitality of local graziers at Camden Park Station with a station tour, sunset drinks and nibbles, and an exclusive dinner.
h2. Day 3: Friday – Winton (B,L,D)
Board a heritage rail motor in Longreach for a one-way journey on the Great Darr River Rail Run before continuing by coach to Darr River Downs Station. Discover the rich history and development of the pastoral industry during a private tour and lunch hosted by the owners of this heritage-listed homestead. This afternoon, take in the ever-changing Outback landscapes as we travel to Winton. Following dinner at the iconic North Gregory Hotel, stroll next door to the historic Royal Open Air Theatre (est. 1937) to enjoy a film beneath the stars. 2 nights Boulder Opal Motor Inn or Winton Outback Motel, Winton
Day 4: Saturday – Winton (B,L,D)
Today, discover how Australia’s transport pioneers helped shape the nation’s road network at the Heritage Truck and Machinery Museum. We then visit the Waltzing Matilda Centre, dedicated to the story behind “Waltzing Matilda”, Australia’s unofficial national anthem. Mid-afternoon, enjoy a short drive out of town to the Australian Age of Dinosaurs Museum, dramatically situated atop a spectacular mesa. Here, join a guided interpretive tour through the Laboratory and Collection Room. As the day draws to a close, soak up the atmosphere at a special sunset barbecue overlooking the vast plains once roamed by dinosaurs, before concluding with the immersive Gondwana Observatory night experience.
Day 5: Sunday – Longreach (B,L,D)
Return to Longreach this morning to explore the fascinating galleries of the Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame. Discover inspiring stories of Australia’s pioneering heroes and enjoy the exciting Stockman’s Live Show. Later this afternoon, unwind on the Drover’s Sunset Cruise with onboard nibbles, followed by a two-course table-service dinner under the stars at Smithy’s Outback Dinner & Show. 1 night Saltbush Retreat, Longreach
Day 6: Monday – Longreach (B)
Following breakfast, your Outback adventure comes to an end, with transfers provided to the airport or railway station.
Day 7: Tuesday – Arrive Brisbane (B)
For guests returning by rail, the Spirit of the Outback is scheduled to arrive into Brisbane at 11.50am.
