Day 1. Arrive Brisbane – K’gari (Fraser Island)

Begin your journey in Brisbane and travel north to the relaxed coastal region of Noosa. Enjoy free time to explore Hastings Street or stroll along the beach before continuing to Hervey Bay. Here, board a ferry to World Heritage-listed K’gari (Fraser Island). The ferry ride across the strait is a highlight, particularly during whale migration when these gentle giants come to the calm, protected waters to calve. Landing on K’gari, expect to see a lot of sand. This is, after all, the world’s largest sand island, and the only place in the world where rainforest grows from the sand. Surrounded by ancient rainforest and white-sand shores, check in to your eco resort and settle in for a peaceful evening immersed in nature. Accommodation: Kingfisher Bay Resort. Day 2. K’gari (Fraser Island)

Spend the day exploring the world’s largest sand island by 4WD. Visit Lake McKenzie, famous for its clear turquoise water and silica-white sand, and drive along 75 Mile Beach. Wander through rainforest growing directly in the sand and see iconic sights like the Maheno Shipwreck. Day 3. Kgari (Fraser Island) – Rockhampton

Return to the mainland and travel through regional Queensland, stopping at Langmorn Station, a historic cattle property. The Creed family will welcome you with afternoon tea and a tour of the immense (and historic) property – the original family homestead was built in 1873. The family will regale you with stories about life on the land. The theme continues as you cross the Tropic of Capricorn to arrive in Rockhampton, the beef capital of Australia known for its heritage buildings and laid-back Queenslander spirit. Day 4. Rockhampton – Hamilton Island

Depart Rockhampton and head north along the Queensland coastline. Stop at the Sarina Sugar Shed for an engaging tour that highlights the history and production of sugarcane in the region – with a chance to sample locally made treats. Continue to Airlie Beach, where you’ll board a ferry bound for Hamilton Island. Part of the idyllic Whitsundays, the island offers white-sand beaches, swaying palms, and a relaxed pace. Day 5. Hamilton Island (the Whitsundays)

Wake up in paradise with a full day at your own pace. The Whitsunday Islands need little introduction, 74 tropical drops of land, a beguiling union of powdery beaches and rainforest, all ringed by the Coral Sea. Choose from a range of Optional Experiences* designed to make the most of this island haven. Sail to world-famous Whitehaven Beach, or explore walking trails and secluded coves. Whitehaven Beach – Half Day Cruise – $162pp
The whitest sand in the Whitsundays is found on the magical Whitehaven Beach. This half day tour has you boarding a high speed catamaran directly to Whitehaven Beach where you will have time to explore, swim and relax. Morning departure, including morning tea.

Whitehaven & Hill Inlet, Chill & Grill – $282pp
Spend the whole day experiencing the wonders of the magnificent Whitehaven Beach. Following the cruise over, your day on the whitest of sands commences on the southern end of the beach. The crew will advise of the day’s activities available including a trip to Hill Inlet at the northern end of the beach, walking tours and paddle boarding. Your trip includes morning and afternoon tea plus a gourmet burger with side salads served on the beach.

Day 6. Hamilton Island – Cairns

After breakfast, ferry back to the mainland and travel by coach to Cairns, a place where two World Heritage Sites converge: the Great Barrier Reef meets the Wet Tropics of Queensland. On arrival, you’ll be greeted by warm tropical breezes and the laid-back atmosphere of Queensland’s far north. Settle into your hotel, ideally located near the Cairns Esplanade. The rest of the day is yours to explore – perhaps stroll the waterfront, visit the nearby Night Markets, or dine at a local seafood restaurant. Accommodation: DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Cairns. Day 7. Great Barrier Reef Cruise

Prepare for a day of natural wonder as you cruise to the Great Barrier Reef, one of the world’s most iconic marine environments. Travel by high-speed catamaran to a permanently moored pontoon at the outer reef. Snorkel over colourful coral gardens, view marine life from a semi-submersible or underwater observatory, or simply relax on deck and soak it all in. Day 8. Cairns & Surrounds

This morning, travel by coach to Kuranda, a picturesque village nestled in the World Heritage-listed rainforest, on the eastern edge of the Atherton Tablelands. Spend time browsing vibrant markets, visiting local art galleries, or enjoying some free time amid lush surroundings. Glide above the treetops aboard the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway, offering a bird’s-eye view over and through the rainforest and gushing waterfalls. Return to Cairns in the afternoon with time to relax or explore further. In the evening, celebrate your final night with a special dinner, sharing highlights and memories from your Queensland journey with your fellow travellers. Kuranda, Skyrail And Scenic Railway – $217pp
Your day begins with your transfer to Skyrail’s Smithfield Terminal and a journey on the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway. Gliding silently over and through the World Heritage listed Tropical Rainforest, enjoy beautiful views along the way. Explore this ancient environment at Red Peak and Barron Falls Station, including the Rainforest Discovery Zone and The Edge Lookout. Arrive in Kuranda and enjoy some free time to discover the village, full of colourful and interesting arts and crafts. Then, board the famous Kuranda Scenic Railway. Your journey winds through hand-hewn tunnels, across bridges and around curves, all the time appreciating what an amazing engineering feat it is. Upon arrival at historic Freshwater Station, you will board your coach and return to your accommodation.

Down Under Tours: Kuranda, Scenic Rail Skyrail and Hartley’s Crocodile (KHC) – $285pp
Journey on the historic Scenic Railway to Kuranda, with breathtaking views across the cane fields of Cairns, to the tropical rainforest of Kuranda. Upon arrival you will have around one hour to explore this fascinating village of colourful and interesting arts and crafts. Make your way directly to the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway to experience this iconic rainforest. After arriving at the Smithfield Skyrail Terminal, the coach will transfer you to Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures. Explore the park, including the unique eco experience of the Wetlands cruise through the ecologically significant Melaleuca wetlands; the domain of the saltwater crocodile.

Cape Tribulation, Daintree & Mossman – $310pp
Travel in air-conditioned comfort to Cape Tribulation through some of the oldest rainforest in the world. Enjoy morning tea at Mossman Gorge Cultural Centre, a driver-guided walk at Mossman Gorge, a cruise on the Daintree River, a tropical lunch set amongst the rainforest, and a walk on famous Cape Tribulation Beach. Also included is delicious exotic fruit ice cream at the Daintree Ice Cream Company and a stop at Alexandra Lookout for spectacular views over the Daintree River and beyond to the Coral Sea.

Day 9. Farewell from Cairns
