Day 1. 22 Dec 2019 – Arrive Melbourne, Inverloch (L,D)
We will arrange for flights to arrive into Melbourne mid-morning. After a meet and greet from your tour crew we make a short journey to the coastal area of St Kilda, breaking here for a light lunch. Our afternoon takes us through South Gippsland via the township of Tooradin arriving at the Gippsland coast, where we check-in to our beachside resort. 4 Night Stay: RACV Inverloch Resort, Inverloch
Day 2. 23 Dec 2019 – Phillip Island (B,L,D)
This morning we head to Phillip Island, our first stop being Panny’s Amazing World of Chocolate. See a chocolate village complete with working trains and taste delectable Belgian premium handmade chocolate. We then head to San Remo for pelican feeding and lunch. Later, we join Wildlife Coast Cruises to discover one of Australia’s largest wild fur seal colonies. Drift within metres of these playful and inquisitive animals in their natural habitat. Following dinner, we witness ‘the ducks in a tux’ penguin parade tour (premium underground viewing) as these cute creatures make their way out of the water to their burrows in the sand dunes
Day 3. 24 Dec 2019 – Dandenong Ranges (B,L,D)
A leisurely start to today before heading into the Dandenong Ranges. Arriving at Belgrave, we board the Puffing Billy for a steam and cuisine luncheon. Travelling first class, we enjoy the grandeur and charm of a three-hour steam train journey whilst savouring a delicious lunch in fully
enclosed heritage dining carriages. As the train whistle signals, entrees are served before we cross the historic Monbulk Creek Trestle Bridge. The journey continues through temperate rainforest chugging through dense fern foliage and wide-open fields. Mains are served prior to arriving at Lakeside Station where we have time to disembark the train and explore the park which is home to leisurely walking trails, picturesque Emerald Lake and abundant bird life. We then re-board for our return journey whilst finishing off with dessert, tea and coffee before returning to our resort.
Day 4. 25 Dec 2019 – Merry Christmas! (B,L,D)
Merry Christmas! Enjoy a festive breakfast together then take advantage of the resort’s facilities before regathering to celebrate Christmas Day over a long lunch. You have a free afternoon today and tonight we gather for a light dinner together
Day 5. 26 Dec 2019 – Lakes Entrance (B,MT,L,D)
Departing the Gippsland coast this morning we travel via Yarram, take a break at Sale for a cuppa before reaching Lakes Entrance. This afternoon we join a nature and wildlife cruise taking in areas such as The Entrance, Reeves Channel, Bancroft Bay, around the shores of Metung, Lake King and into the housing canals of Paynesville. We then briefly visit Lake Victoria before returning to Lakes Entrance. We disembark and make our way to our overnight accommodation. 1 Night Stay: Bellevue on the Lakes, Lakes Entrance
Day 6. 27 Dec 2019 – Canberra(B,MT,L,D)
Leaving the Gippsland Lakes area, our scenery dramatically changes to rainforest green as we traverse east to Cann River. From here we travel north into the Coopracambra National Park via Bombala arriving at ‘Burnima Homestead’ for tour and lunch. ‘Burnima Homestead’ is a step back to the 1890’s, the 126 year old homestead, gardens and outbuildings create a period atmosphere. You will be partially Victorian once you have finished the guided tour of the 30 plus rooms and 7 acre garden. Our afternoon travels take us via Cooma on to Canberra where we bed down for the night. 1 Night Stay: Peppers Gallery Hotel, Canberra
Day 7. 28 Dec 2019 – Polkolbin (B,MT,L,D)
Departing the capital city we travel through sheep farming country via Goulburn, breaking at Bowral in the Southern Highlands where we enjoy morning tea and take a guided tour of the Don Bradman Museum. Our afternoon takes us via the Central Coast past the town of Brooklyn, breaking at Woy Woy for a seaside luncheon before heading into the Hunter Valley for an overnight stay. Tonight, get into the Christmas spirit with a night visit to the Hunter Valley Gardens superbly lit up with thousands of Christmas lights. 1 Night Stay: Mercure Hunter Valley Resort, Pokolbin
Day 8. 29 Dec 2019 – Hunter Valley, Pot Macquarie (B,L,D)
We start this morning with a day visit to the magnificent Hunter Valley Gardens for a guided train tour with commentary through parts of the 25 hectares of international garden. After lunch, we head back towards the coast and travel north finishing our day at Port Macquarie for our finale night together. 1 Night Stay: Sails Resort, Port Macquarie
Day 9. 30 Dec 2019- Arrive Brisbane (B,MT,L)
A travel day to Brisbane where along the way we take time at Coffs Harbour for a cuppa and leg stretch. From here we continue southbound arriving at historic New Italy to visit the museum that was once part of the original New Italy Settlement and see the Italian Pavilion that showcases the broader history of Italian migration to Australia and the Northern Rivers region. A bite to eat at the local café before we are back the on road making tracks for Roma Street in Brisbane.
