Day 1. Sunday – Port Macquarie (MT,L,D)
Departing on our luxury ‘Gold Class’ coach from Brisbane Coach Terminal on Roma Street, we travel south down the coast to Maclean Bowls Club for lunch. Our afternoon takes us through Coffs Harbour to Port Macquarie where we stay the evening. 1 Night Stay: Mercure Centro, Port Macquarie
Day 2. Monday – Bowral (B,MT,L,D)
This morning we leave Port Macquarie, take a break at Bulahdelah, then continue on, arriving at Gosford for lunch. Travelling through Sydney’s western suburbs we head up in to the Southern Highlands. 1 Night Stay: Gibraltar Hotel, Bowral
Day 3. Tuesday – Jindabyne (B,MT,L,D)
Departing the Southern Highlands, we travel to the nation’s capital, Canberra. Here we take a driving tour of the International Embassies and HighCommissions, as well as passing by Parliament House before enjoying a tour of the National Arboretum, followed by a picnic lunch. Continuing our journey to the Alpine region, we stop at the Snowy Hydro Discovery Centre in Cooma. Enjoy a self-guided tour where we learn about how the hydro-electricity scheme was constructed. A short drive will see us arrive in Jindabyne for the next two nights.. 2 Night Stay: Rydges Horizons Snowy Mountains, Jindabyne
Day 4. Wednesday – Jindabyne (B,L,D)
Today we venture into the Kosciuszko National Park to admire the rugged alpine landscape and limestone gorges, arriving at Thredbo Village. Here we take a thrilling luge ride, guaranteed to bring a smile to your face as you twist and turn down a 700m track through the Thredbo wilderness. We then take the Kosciuszko Express Chairlift to the Express Terminal where we lunch at the Eagles Nest Restaurant. Enjoy the panoramic views of Mount Kosciuszko before returning via the chairlift to spend some time in the village. Now we visit Australia’s highest distillery known for its range of seasonal fruit based schnapps and gin. Take a tour and a stroll through the sustainable sculpture garden at Wild Brumby Distillery, return to our hotel for the evening.
Day 5. Thursday – Wangaratta (B,MT,L,D)
Departing Jindabyne, we travel the picturesque Alpine Way, stopping at Corryong Museum to see the Jack Riley exhibition – The Man from Snowy River. We venture on skirting around the Murray River, arriving in Albury for lunch. Our afternoon takes us to Wangaratta to enjoy time wandering the town and discover its great café culture, burgeoning river restaurants or laneways that are buzzing with local retailers before checking-in to our accommodation. 1 Night Stay: Quality Hotel Gateway, Wangaratta
Day 6. Friday – Australian International Airshow, Melbourne (B,MT,L)
Making tracks to Melbourne today, we break for morning tea at Seymour before arriving in Melbourne and enjoying lunch. We have time to check in and freshen up before making our way to the highlight of the tour, the Friday night session of the Australian International Airshow, Avalon. Gold pass entry tickets ensure you are centred in the action between the ground and aerial displays. 2 Night Stay: Sofitel Melbourne on Collins. **Dinner this evening is at your own expense at the Airshow.
Day 7. Saturday – Australian International Airshow, Melbourne, Melbourne (B,D)
Today we return for a full day at the Australian International Airshow at Avalon, with another gold pass entry providing premium allocated grandstand seating along the runway, private gold pass enclosure and facilities, exclusive food and beverage outlets, a souvenir program and a keepsake souvenir. Experience the full attack arsenal of the defence force as jet fighters, strike bombers and heavy lift leviathans join attack helicopters to perform precision manoeuvres that will light up the sky. An impressive collection of World War II aircraft will soar skyward in an historic display from the classic aviation years. The world’s leading innovators will display their latest and most exciting aerospace, aviation and defence products. **Lunch today is at your own expense at the Airshow.
Day 8. Sunday – Flights home (B)
Enjoy breakfast at your leisure this morning. Check out mid-morning and make our way to Artvo Immersive Gallery. This ‘trick art’ gallery is the first of its kind in Australia, where you are encouraged to touch and interact with the artworks, photographing yourself in them. You can become part of over 100 3D artworks, placing you in the midst of scenes, locations and famous paintings. After our time here, we make our way to the airport for our respective flights home.
