Departing on our luxury ‘Gold Class’ coach from Roma Street, Brisbane, we travel south through Coffs Harbour to Port Macquarie where we stay the evening. 1 Night Stay: Sails Resort, Port Macquarie
DAY 2 Monday 4 November (B,MT,L,D)
Today we make our way to the Hunter Valley, stopping for a gourmet lunch at The Cellar Restaurant. After lunch, take a short stroll across to the famous Hunter Valley Gardens. This afternoon we travel to Mudgee, our accommodation for the next three nights. 3 Night Stay: Winning Post Motor Inn, Mudgee
DAY 3 Tuesday 5 November (B,MT,L,D)
A leisurely morning to prepare for the day. All mares and stallions, don your best attire and fancy fascinator in preparation for Melbourne Cup Day celebrations at Gooree Park Mudgee. One of the country’s leading thoroughbred breeding grounds and largest vineyards in the region, prepare to indulge in a 4 course feast paired perfectly with wines (beers and other beverages are included in the package) under the white marquee. The race day entertainment includes sweepstakes, thoroughbred parades,fashions on the field, live music and the races on the big screen.
DAY 4 Wednesday 6 November (B,L,D)
Today we make the short journey to the small town of Gulgong to discover its rich history and heritage. A local guide will join us on the coach and tell the tale of how gold rush fever put the town on the map. We then visit Gulgong Pioneer Museum, home to one of the finest collections of Australiana in the country. We take our time to wander through the main street and discover the local retailers before departing Gulgong, making our way back to Mudgee. Lunch today is at Moothi Estate Winery, an award-winning local venue. Here we sit back on the large veranda overlooking the vineyard and enjoy a leisurely lunch followed by a tasting of the estate’s finest.
DAY 5 Thursday 7 November (B,L,D)
Departing Mudgee, we travel to the town of Tamworth. Best known for its annual country music festival, we stop for lunch and time to browse the Big Golden Guitar tourist centre. A photo in front of the 12m high Golden Guitar at the front, is a must, and is one of Australia’s most recognised and photographed tourist sights. The afternoon takes us to Armidale, where we stay for the evening. 1 Night Stay: Cotswold Gardens, Armidale
DAY 6 Friday 8 November (B,L)
This morning we travel through Celtic country to Stanthorpe. Here we enjoy a food and wine experience at the Queensland College of Wine Tourism. After lunch, we make our way back to Brisbane.
