Day 1. Thursday: Hobart (D)

On arrival in Hobart we meet our local coach captain and take in an orientation city sights tour past the Botanic Gardens, historic Battery Point, and Constitution Dock before we stop at Mt. Nelson for panoramic views over the city. Arrive and check in to our hotel where we unpack once staying in Harbour View Rooms boasting panoramic views of the ever changing Hobart waterfront. Tonight, we gather for welcome drinks followed by dinner. 5 Night Stay: Harbour View Rooms, Hotel Grand Chancellor, Hobart CBD

Day 2. Friday: Port Arthur Historical Sites (B,L,D)

This morning we explore Port Arthur Historic Site, We embark on a guided walking tour of the former seaside penal colony, once home to the most serious criminals of the time. We explore more than 30 restored buildings and ruins and learn about the site’s history as a convict colony, and admire the coastal scenery that highlights the natural beauty of the Tasman Peninsula. Then set off on a cruise across Carnarvon Bay to Isle of the Dead, where you’ll disembark for a guided tour of the island, an historic cemetery, where those who died at Port Arthur were buried. We then venture to the blowhole at Eaglehawk Neck, visiting some of the many formations of the south east coast, namely Tasman Arch, Devil’s Kitchen and the Tessellated Pavement. Then tonight we have dinner at the stately 1807 vintage pub, the Hope and Anchor Tavern. GGP

Day 3. Saturday Hobart (B,D)

A free day to enjoy Hobart’s picturesque waterfront. Discover the famous Salamanca Market, one of Australia’s largest and most vibrant outdoor markets. Explore the market stalls that offer free tastings and samples of local produce. Talk to the local artisans and discover historic sandstone warehouses as you browse over Tasmanian-made and designed products. There is plenty to do such as taking the Hop on Hop off bus sight-seeing or take time at MONA – Museum of Qld and New Art. **Lunch is at own expense today. GGP

Day 4. Sunday: Bruny Island (B,L,D)

Discover everything that makes Bruny Island amazing as we embark on a sightseeing and food tour. Travel by ferry to the island, look out for seals and penguins as you sail. On the island, admire natural sights like The Neck and Truganini Lookout, and explore the new walkways that lead to vantage points for amazing views. Discover the island’s food scene with tastings of cheese, chocolate, cider, plus a lunch of local produce. We take time at Cape Bruny Lighthouse and learn about the history, heritage and shipwreck stories. GGP

Day 5. Monday: Hobart (B,L,D)

Today we take in history and local wildlife, firstly making our way to Bonorong Wildlife Park – Tasmania’s largest wildlife rescue service. Enjoy the thrill of an up-close encounter with native Australian animals and spot Tasmanian devils in the flesh. A guided tour leads us through the habitats and provides information about the wildlife. We leave the park and make our way to Puddleduck Winery for a sit down tasting of their current release wines accompanied by a presentation the Tasmanian wine industry. A light lunch is then served showcasing local Tasmanian produce including charcuterie, seafoods and cheeses. From here we explore Richmond, one of Tasmania’s most historic towns dating back to the 1820’s. A leisurely visit taking free time to soak up the colonial charm and wander through the preserved heritage attractions including a visit to Richmond Gaol. the oldest intact Gaol in Australia. Tonight, enjoy a specialty dinner at the iconic Drunken Admiral, a folksy wooden dining hall full of maritime souvenirs, serving up chowder and hearty seafood dishes. GGP

Day 6. Tuesday: Hobart – Home (B)

Wake to our last morning in Tasmania where our morning outing takes us to The Salmon Ponds, the oldest trout hatchery in the Southern Hemisphere and home to the Trout Fishing Museum and Angling Hall of Fame. During your time here you can view fish breeding in all its stages, from fingerlings to full-grown Brown, Rainbow and Brook Trout and Atlantic Salmon. Displays explain the annual cycle of fish breeding activities. Enjoy a delish specialty, Pancakes by the Ponds before we farewell Hobart making tracks for the airport and for our respective flights home.
