Day 1. Friday – Brisbane to Tenterfield (MT,L,D)
Departing from Roma Street Transit Centre in Brisbane we make our first stop at a hidden gem near Harrisville, Summer Land Camels where we take a tour through the restricted access facilities and dairy. Learn about Australia’s camel history, see their ‘Smart Tech Farming’ operations, and meet and hand feed their gentle camels. Camel milk has powerful immune proteins that benefit human health so of course we’ll take time to taste their award-winning Camel Milk and Persian Feta. From here we take the scenic route through Yowie country to Woodenbong, for lunch at the one and only country pub in town. Our afternoon takes us over the border into New South Wales via Wilsons Downfall and Boonoo Boonoo finishing our day at Tenterfield. Tonight we enjoy a special performance at Sir Henry Parkes School of Arts, officially celebrating the opening of the Peter Allen Festival and paying a fun-filled tribute to Peter Allen by reliving the energetic performances of one of Australia’s greatest entertainers. 3 Night Stay: Best Western The Henry Parkes, Tenterfield
Day 2. Saturday – Tenterfield (B,D)
We set ourselves up for the day with a visit to Arrajay Downs for a Jackaroo breakfast hosted by local farmers Dave & Rhonda. Nestled on the peak of the Great Dividing Range, the Old Timber Barn is the perfect location to enjoy a paddock to plate home cooked meal, while enjoying the beautiful scenery and watching the animals graze in their free range environment. We return to Tenterfield as Peter Allen Boulevard comes to life. The main street will be transformed with extended trading hours jammed with farmers markets, music, workshops and the spring flower show – the day is yours to fill with festival fever! Tonight we attend the festival’s Gala Dinner & Awards evening. Recognising local musical talent the evening will also showcase local produce as part of the delicious 3 course dinner. **Lunch is at your own expense today.
Day 3. Sunday – Tenterfield (B,L,D)
We start our day with a town tour taking in the Tenterfield Saddler, immortalised in song by Peter Allen, before we make our way to Glenrock Gardens for a self-guided tour of this award winning country garden of 10-acres set within a working farm. The picturesque gardens are very much designed in the English style with dry stone rock walls throughout. They are also interspersed with iconic Australian bushland, a succession of lakes, terraces and croquet lawns. We continue the horticultural theme and add in some local produce as we attend a traditional Garden Party in Bruxnor Park – the tasting menu of 7 courses is sure to ignite your senses! We wind down our day with The Peter Allen Story Music Supper Club. Watch the music and story of Peter Allen unfold on the big screen with surround sound at the local Tenterfield Cinema – a fitting conclusion to our Peter Allen celebration.
Day 4. Monday – Tenterfield to Brisbane (B,MT,L)
We say farewell to New England, travel through Stanthorpe continuing along the Great Dividing Range to the garden city of Toowoomba and DownsSteam Tourist Railway & Museum. Here we take a tour of Drayton Station and the workshop precinct before discovering the unique Dreamtime Journey Coach, a tribute to indigenous workers. After lunch aboard a reconditioned railway car, we continue to Spring Bluff railway station. With the arrival of spring the prize-winning gardens here should be in full bloom, perfect for a stroll before we finish our tour by returning to Brisbane.
