Day 1. Brisbane to Coffs Harbour
We departing Brisbane on our comfortable coach today and travel along the coastal highway. We stop in at Grafton enjoying lunch at the “The Captains Table”, the world’s longest table cut from 1 piece of wood. We then continue on to Coffs Harbour and check in to our hotel with time to freshen up for dinner this evening at the restaurant. Overnight Coffs Harbour Country Comfort (L,D)
Day 2. Dorrigo & Armidale
Breakfast, before calling into the seaside village of Urunga for our morning tea. Then to Dorrigo to visit the Rainforest Centre and Skywalk lookout which offers superb views over the national park. The Skywalk lookout is a 70m boardwalk that soars over the edge of the escarpment some 21m above the rainforest. Easily accessible, everyone can enjoy the amazing panoramic views of the Rosewood rainforest basin and the double peak of McGraths Hump. Lunch at the historical Dorrigo Hotel before we make our way to Wollomombi and Ebor Waterfalls. Both falls offer spectacular views and scenic lookouts. Arriving in Armidale with time to freshen up before we enjoy a hearty dinner in the Manor Restaurant. 2 nights Armidale Cotswald Gardens (B,L,D)
Day 3. Historic Armidale
Following breakfast we will be joined by our guide for The Guided Heritage Tour of Armidale. You will be taken on an historical journey through Armidale’s history and taking in such places as Booloominbah and Saumarez Historical Homesteads, St Peters and St Marys Churches and other interesting locations whilst on our town tour. Following lunch at Saumarez, we make our way to the Armidale Folk Museum. The museum is housed in the magnificent 1863 Armidale Literary Institute and traces the history of New England. Dinner tonight at a local hotel. (B,L,D)
Day 4. Abbey of the Roses & Return to Brisbane
This morning we depart to Glen Innes and visit The Australian Standing Stones. From there we make our way to Tenterfield for a stop at the Saddler Museum before we arrive into Warwick and the Abbey of the Roses Manor. We enjoy a wonderful lunch and informative tour telling us about the beautiful old building which is steeped in local history. It was built in 1891 for the local nuns and in its heyday, it housed up to 23 nuns and up to 60 girls from the age of around 11 onwards. Then departing back to Brisbane arriving late afternoon. (B,L)
