DAY 1. Friday – Arrive Perth (D)

Our flights arrive in Perth where we enjoy a city orientation tour of Australia’s most western capital, including a stop at picturesque Kings Park Botanic Gardens. 2 Night Stay: Crown Promenade Perth

DAY 2. Saturday – Rottnest Island (B,L,D)

After a relaxing start to the day we board a ferry bound to Rottnest Island. We take in the unique fauna and flora, stunning beaches, woodlands and salt lakes with our local guide, and maybe even spot a quokka or two. We see Wadjemup Lighthouse and Cathedral Rocks, ride the historic train and enjoy a break at the Rottnest Quokka Arms Pub before returning to the mainland.

DAY 3. Sunday – Perth to Margaret River (B,L,D)

Today we depart for the south west travelling through Mandurah towards Margaret River. We break at the coastal town of Busselton, visiting the Anniebrook Flower Emporium for morning tea. In Yallingup we take in the Koomal Dreaming cultural experience, enjoying a guided bushwalk identifying traditional medicine plants, learning about the region, and venturing into the Ngilgi Cave to hear Dreamtime legends and a mesmerizing didgeridoo performance. At Cape Naturalist our highlight is the sight of Canal Rocks, before our last visit of the day takes us to the Margaret River Chocolate Factory. 2 Night Stay: Stay Margaret River

DAY 4. Monday – Margaret River (B,L,D)

Our first stop this morning is a visit to the Candy Cow sweet shop to taste their delectable fudge, honey crunch and nougat. We then visit the Eagle Heritage Raptor Wildlife Park. Set on 20 acres, this is Australia’s largest wildlife centre dedicated to birds of prey and owls. Marvel at the flight display showcasing the natural behaviours and abilities of these beautiful birds. Later we sample Margaret River’s famous wines over lunch at Xanadu Winery before stopping in at the Margaret River Dairy Company, to taste some of their products.

DAY 5. Tuesday – Albany (B,L,D)

Leaving Margaret River we take a scenic drive through the majestic Boranup Karri Forest; here the tall pale-barked karri trees reach heights of 50 metres or more, and dominate the hilly slopes and valleys. Our next leg of the journey takes us via Augusta to Leeuwin Lighthouse, where the Southern & Indian Oceans meet. From here we head east to the Gloucester Tree Lookout, before stopping for lunch at Pemberton. This afternoon we experience the wonderful tree top walk in the Valley of the Giants. Walk along the tree tops suspended 50 metres above the ground, getting a bird’s eye view of the giant trees of the Tingle Forest before arriving in Albany, the first European settlement in Western Australia. 2 Night Stay: Quality Apartments Banksia Gardens, Albany

DAY 6. Wednesday – Albany (B,L,D)

Our Albany touring starts with a visit to The Gap, Natural Bridge and the Desert Mounted Corps Memorial and National Anzac Centre at Mt Clarence. Learn stories of those who served our country, many departing from the Port of Albany to conflict in Gallipoli, the Middle East and the Western Front. After lunch at Mount Romance Sandalwood factory we head to the heritage listed Discovery Bay and explore the Australian Wildlife and Botanic Gardens. Enjoy some free time in town before returning to our hotel.

DAY 7. Thursday – Hyden & Wave Rock (B,L,D)

This morning sit back and enjoy the scenery as we head north into the wheat belt via the Stirling Ranges. Stop at the grain growing town of Lake Grace for lunch before heading to Hyden, home of Wave Rock. This 27 million year old magnificent prehistoric rock formation, is one of Western Australia’s most treasured natural attractions. 2 Night Stay: Wave Rock Hotel, Hyden

DAY 8. Friday – The Humps & Hyden (B,L,D)

We start our day at The Humps, another huge granite outcrop and the site of one of WA’s most significant examples of Aboriginal rock art. Here you can see over 450 separate hand prints and images that have been painted onto the easily accessible Mulka’s Cave. After lunch at the Wave Rock Wildflower Shop spend some time exploring The Lace Place museum, Toy Soldier museum and Wave Rock Wildlife Park before returning to the hotel.

DAY 9. Saturday – Hyden to Perth (B,L,D)

This morning we visit historic Wandilla Farm Homestead, built in 1948 with bricks hand-made by Italian prisoners of war, now home to a vintage car collection. Departing Hyden we travel via Kulin and the unique Tin Horse Highway. This famous drive is quite the laughing matter, showcasing an hilarious collection of clever community art as we make our way back to Perth. 1 Night Stay: Crown Promenade Perth

DAY 10. Sunday – Board Indian Pacific, Kalgoorlie (B,L,D)

Mid-morning we begin our journey from the Indian Ocean to the Pacific Ocean by settling into our Gold Class cabins aboard the mighty Indian Pacific. Over lunch onboard, watch as we glide through the picturesque rolling hills of the Avon Valley. After dinner tonight we roll into the Wild West township of Kalgoorlie and disembark to discover this remote outpost.

DAY 11. Monday – Indian Pacific (B,L,D)

Awake to the spectacular expanse of the Nullarbor Plain to watch the sunrise, then be captivated by the big blue skies and ancient stillness of the desert landscape, as we traverse this iconic frontier. We break in the once-thriving Nullarbor railway community, now ghost town, of Cook, and then continue our trek across the longest single stretch of railway in the world.

DAY 12. Tuesday – Adelaide & Broken Hill (B,L,D)

On arrival in elegant Adelaide, take your choice of off-train excursions; a walking tour, a behind-the-scenes tour of the world famous Adelaide Oval, or a coach tour of the city sights. This evening we cross into New South Wales, stopping at Broken Hill, Australia’s silver capital and home to a unique artistic community.

DAY 13. Wednesday – Arrive Sydney (B,L,D)

As dawn breaks we wake to the picturesque Blue Mountains and the final leg of our epic journey that sees us arrive into Sydney Central Station at lunchtime. We transfer to lunch before checking-in, and then tonight we enjoy a farewell dinner cruise on iconic Sydney Harbour. Admire the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge as we cruise this beautiful expanse of water before disembarking at Darling Harbour. 1 Night Stay: Park Royal Darling Harbour

DAY 14. Thursday – Depart Sydney (B)

After breakfast we take a sightseeing tour of Sydney travelling through the historic district of The Rocks, and the parklands of the Domain. We capture a different view of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge from Mrs Macquarie’s Chair, and spot lifesavers on Bondi Beach before returning to the city via the eastern suburbs of Double Bay, Edgecliff and Rushcutters Bay. We then transfer to the airport for our respective flights home.
