Day 1. Ayers Rock (D)

Fly into Ayers Rock to a warm welcome by your tour hostess and local coach captain. Enjoy welcome drinks, where sparkling wine is served as you watch the sun set at Australia’s most renowned natural landmark. Witness the spectacularphenomenon of the changing colours of the massive sandstone monolith beforereturning to our hotel. 3 Night Stay: Sails in the Desert Hotel, Ayers Rock

Day 2. Ayers Rock (B,L,D)

Rise early to witness the Field of Light just before sunrise and then watch dawn over Uluru. We take a walk to the Mutitjulu Waterhole and continue along to the Mala Walk before a drive tour around the base of Uluru and visit to Uluru-Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre. Our afternoon has us climbing into the saddle for a camel trek for another way to enjoy fabulous views of Uluru and Kata Tjuta. An outback adventure led by an expert cameleer who shares knowledge of the desert’s wildlife and ecology along the way.

Day 3. Ayers Rock (B,D)

Enjoy the thrill of taking an aerial tour of Australia’s Red Centre during a scenic 25-minute helicopter flight showcasing the famous landmarks Uluru and Kata Tjuta. Our afternoon takes us to MarukuArts for a dot painting workshop under the expert guidance of local Indigenous artists. Tonight, savour four magical hours dining under the starry outback sky where storytellers share tales as told in the stars at the Sounds of Silence specialty dinner. Enjoy pre-dinner drinks and canapés, and as the sun sets then feast on a BBQ of authentic Australian delicacies and classic desserts, all complemented by Australian wines. **Lunch is at own expense today.

Day 4. Ayers Rock to Kings Canyon (B,L,D)

Leaving Ayers Rock, we travel to Kings Creek Station breaking here for lunch.Originally vacant crown land, the station now runs cattle and is the largest exporter of wild camels in Australia. We continue on to Kings Canyon, a spectacular natural formation whose sheer sandstone walls soar to a height of 100 metres. Enjoy an optional 6km rim walk of the canyon, to be rewarded with marvellous views of Watarrka National Park or alternatively take an easier walk along the boulderstrewn canyon creek bed. 1 Night Stay: Kings Canyon Resort, Petermann

Day 5. Kings Canyon to Alice Springs (B,L,D)

Travelling past seemingly-deserted cattle properties you will be amazed at the greatness of the Australian Outback. We arrive in Alice Springs, visiting the historic Telegraph Station, established in 1872, and drive to Anzac Hill for panoramic views over ‘The Alice’ before checking into our Hotel. 3 Night Stay: Crowne Plaza Alice Springs Lasseters

Day 6. Alice Springs (B,L,D)

Discover the West MacDonnell Ranges, stopping at Flynn’s Grave before a visit to Ellery Creek Big Hole. We take time at Standley Chasm renowned for the red rocks, blue skies and white ghost gums. Enjoy lunch at Glen Helen Homestead before departing for Ormiston Gorge and Simpsons Gap.

Day 7. Alice Springs (B,L,D)

Enjoy a sleep in before meeting midmorning to travel to the headquarters of iconic Royal Flying Doctor Service. This evening we watch a spectacular sunset over the Eastern MacDonnell Ranges to an awe inspiring canopy of stars. Hear captivating stories ranging from local ecology, culture and astronomy all the whilst dining on a home-cooked BBQ dinner.

Day 8. Alice Springs to Tennant Creek (B,L,D)

Departing Alice Springs this morning we travel north, stopping to visit Karlu Karlu (Devils Marbles), an intriguing series of precariously-balanced granite boulders. Our afternoon takes us to the former gold-mining town of Tennant Creek where we bed down for the night. 1 Night Stay: Bluestone Motor Inn, Tennant Creek N.B. Basic accommodation tonight in this remote town, all rooms en-suited.

Day 9. Tennant Creek to Katherine (B,L,D)

Back on the road and heading north we break at the eccentric Daly Waters Pub for lunch. Our afternoon takes us to Mataranka, stopping at the replica of the original Elsey Homestead that featured in the filming of ‘We of the Never’. We take time out for a swim in the famous Mataranka thermal springs before we are back on the road finishing our day at Katherine for the night. 1 Night Stay: Ibis Styles, Katherine

Day 10. Katherine to Jabiru (B,L,D)

Arriving at Nitmiluk National Park, we take a tranquil cruise along Katherine Gorge, cruising down the river that winds between the sheer sandstone cliffs. Learn about the area’s geologic history from your guide and catch a glimpse of ancient Aboriginal rock art and learn the history and culture of the local Jawoyn people. Later we travel to Pine Creek for lunch at the unique Lazy Lizard Tavern which is constructed from termite mound mud bricks. Our afternoon takes us to Edith Falls then into Kakadu National Park. 2 Night Stay: Mercure Kakadu Crocodile Hotel, Jabiru

Day 11. Jabiru (B,L,D)

Taking to the skies we enjoy a 30-minute scenic flight over the Archway, Arnhem Land escarpments, East Alligator Valley, Mikinj Valley billabongs and Magela floodplains. In Jabiru we visit the Bowali Visitor Centre and the Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre before embarking on a Yellow Water wetlands cruise, taking in part of the South Alligator River floodplain. Birdlife if prolific such as brolgas, jabirus and masses of magpie geese which migrate to Kakadu each dry season. Buffalo and brumbies also roam the area and it’s Crocodylus central with an estimated four crocodiles per 100sqm.

Day 12. Jabiru to Darwin (B,L,D)

We traverse the Magela floodplains and pass spectacular escarpments to the Aboriginal rock art site of Ubirr, where our guide takes us through the natural stone galleries giving an insight into the culture associated with these intriguing works of art. We then make the last leg of our journey to Darwin where we take a city sights tour including a visit to the Museum and Art Gallery that depicts the destructive force of Cyclone Tracy. **Please note: Strict Level 3 active fitness level required today. 2 Night Stay: SKYCITY Hotel & Casino, Darwin

Day 13. Darwin (B,L,D)

Discovering Litchfield National Park take in the inspiring views of Tabletop Range, of cascading waterfalls. Marvel at the termite mounds and learn how these astonishing structures are built by armies of tiny insects. From here we take in Florence Falls look-out before making our way to Litchfield Café for lunch. Our afternoon takes us to nearby Wangi Falls, where year-round currents pour into a large swimming hole. Enjoy a refreshing dip before we make our way back to Darwin. This evening we dine out, enjoying a sumptuous seafood buffet whilst admiring the sunset over Darwin Harbour.

Day 14. Flight home (B)

Enjoy breakfast at your leisure before being transferred to the airport where we say our goodbyes and take our respective flights home. A sensational tour, showcasing dramatic landscapes, rugged rock structures, living Aboriginal culture, colossal waterways and incandescent ocean.
