Day 1. Thursday – Tokyo (Meals in-flight, D)
Depart from Brisbane International Airport and arrive same day in bustling Tokyo. Clear through customs, immigration and the usual formalities and make your way to the arrivals hall, where you will be met by private transfer guides who will escort us to our vehicle and transfer to our luxurious hotel for check-in. Our hotel is surrounded by a beautiful 400-year old Japanese garden and located in central Tokyo. We gather tonight for a welcome to Japan group dinner. 3 Night Stay: Hotel Westin, Tokyo
Day 2. Friday – Tokyo (B,L,D)
Enjoy an amazing sightseeing tour of Tokyo, driving through the National Diet Building and Tokyo Sky Tree. We’ll stop at Imperial Palace and Double Bridge for some fantastic photo opportunities, then visit Ueno park. After a Japanese style lunch, visit Asakusa Kannon Temple and Nakamise shopping street. We then enjoy a Sumida River Cruise from Asakusa to Odaiba. This evening we enjoy an unforgettable Japanese style dinner.
Day 3. Saturday – Tokyo (B,D)
This morning will be spent at Meiji Shrine, exploring Harajuku, and marvelling at the hectic yet organised Shibuya Crossing. In the afternoon you are free to explore or rest as you wish. **Lunch is free dining at own expense.
Day 4. Sunday – Lake Yamanaka (B,L,D)
We gather with our guide and make our way to Koishikawa Botanical Garden, a spacious botanical garden maintained by the University of Tokyo. Featuring many tree and plant species, as well as a small Japanese landscape garden, this site is particularly beautiful during Autumn. Afterwards we depart Tokyo and travel to Hakone by coach, visiting the Peace Park, Owakutani Hot Spring, and enjoying a cruise on Lake Ashi, along the way. After checking-in to our hotel, enjoy a short rest before dinner. 1 Night Stay: Fuji Marriott Hotel Lake Yamanaka
Day 5. Monday – Takayama (B,L,D)
Today we explore majestic Mt Fuji, taking a trip up to Mt Fuji’s 5th Station at an elevation of 2,300 metres, above sea level. We also visit the Fuji Visitor Centre to learn more about this iconic mountain. After lunch, we move on to Takayama where we check in to our hotel and freshen up before enjoying a delicious buffet dinner. 2 Night Stay: Hotel Associa, Takayama
Day 6. Tuesday – Takayama (B,D)
Join our guide for a full day tour with visits to the Exhibition Hall and the Folkcraft Museum. Wander through the quaint streets filled with traditional thatched roof buildings and merchant homes. **Lunch is free dining at own expense.
Day 7. Wednesday – Kanazawa (B,L,D)
Visit world heritage listed Shirakawago, famous for the traditional Gasshouzukuri farmhouse which is more than 250 years old. We then head to Kanazawa and visit Kenroku-en Garden and Kanazawa Museum; our day also includes a visit to Samurai house and a walk through the old district. 1 Night Stay: ANA Crowne Plaza, Kanazawa
Day 8. Thursday – Kyoto (B,D)
This morning we venture to Kyoto, Japan’s ancient capital, where you will visit Heian Jingu Shrine. It is the home of perhaps the world’s most authentic and exquisite Japanese Garden, as well as the celebrated Golden Pavilion. Enjoy the Kimono show at Nishinjin Showroom and visit a promenade called Path of Philosophers. We then return to Kyoto and check-in to our hotel. 2 Night Stay: Kyoto Tokyu Hotel, Kyoto. **Lunch is free dining at own expense.
Day 9. Friday – Kyoto (B,L)
Enjoy a sightseeing tour of Kyoto and Nara visiting Nijo Castle which was built in the early 17th century. Ninomarugoten, renovated in 1626, is renowned as a priceless example of the architectural style of that period. Next we see the famous Kiyomizu Dera Temple where a tea ceremony will be organised to experience traditional Japanese culture. Our afternoon takes us to Nara’s Todoiji Temple, the Daibutsuden (Great Buddha Hall), which is one of the world’s largest wooden buildings and one of the bestknown temples in Japan. It enshrines a gigantic bronze statue of Buddha. Next, we visit a deer park where the deer roam freely, lending a pastoral atmosphere to the park. Afterwards we drive back to Kyoto finishing our day visiting the iconic Fushimi Inari shrine. **This evening enjoy free time in this ancient capital city as dinner is free dining at own expense.
Day 10. Saturday – Hiroshima (B,D)
This morning we meet our guide to make our way to the train station and depart from Kyoto on JR Bullet Train ‘NOZOMI’ (1st class), and arrive at Hiroshima in less than 2 hours, travelling over 300km per hour. On arrival we take a tour visiting Miyajima and the Itsukushima Shrine, with a ferry ride to Miyajima Island, situated in Miyajima Town, south-western Hiroshima. It is a scenic sight in which the mountains, sea and red shrine buildings blend in harmony, the entire island is designated as a historic site. After dinner, we check-in to our hotel. 1 Night Stay: Sheraton Grande, Hiroshima
Day 11. Sunday – Osaka (B,L,D)
Today we experience the sights of Hiroshima – the city that advocates peace in the world. We stop to visit Peace Memorial Park showcasing the Atomic Bomb Dome. We then transfer to Himeiji by bullet train (1st class), which is about a 1.5hr journey. After a Japanese set lunch, we visit Himeiji Castle, one of the ancient and famous castles in Japan. Our day finishes with a transfer to Osaka where we check into our hotel for next 2 nights. 2 Night Stay: Hilton, Osaka
Day 12. Monday – Kobe (B,D)
Travel to Kobe and learn about Sake, then return to Osaka for a relaxing River Cruise. This afternoon is free to wander through Kuromon Ichiba Market. Tonight, we share memories over our farewell dinner together. **Lunch is free dining at own expense.
Day 13. Tuesday – Osaka (B)
After breakfast the day is free at your leisure until it is time to transfer to the Airport for our overnight flight home.
Day 14. Wednesday – Arrive Brisbane (Meals in-flight)
Our international flight lands in Sydney, with connecting flights arriving back into Brisbane mid-morning.
