DAY 1: Arrive Auckland (D)

DAY 2: Auckland – Hokianga – Bay of Islands (B,D)
Depart Auckland and travel to Matakohe to enjoy an informative talk at the Kauri Museum. After lunch travel north through Dargaville to the unforgettable Footprints Waipoua encounter, home to some of the largest remaining kauri trees in the world. A local guide will explain how these trees are inter-twined with the lives of local Maori and the important role they play in the eco-system that is the Waipoua Forest. DAY 3: Bay of Islands (Free Day) (B,D)
Today is free to choose from the many optional activities available, including the Hole in the Rock Cruise, a relaxing luncheon cruise or a spectacular scenic flight. The choice is yours and your Tour Guide and Coach Captain will be available to assist.
DAY 4: Bay of Islands – Auckland (B)
This morning enjoy a guided tour of the Waitangi Treaty Grounds, the location of the signing of the treaty between the Maori tribes and the British. Farewell the Bay of Islands and drive south via Whangarei, Wellsford and Warkworth to Auckland. This afternoon visit the aviation display hall at the Museum of Transport and Technology. The impressive collection includes the only Solent Mark IV Flying Boat left in the world, a rare World War II era Avro Lancaster Bomber as well as aircraft which saw service with the Royal New Zealand Air Force such as the de Havilland Mosquito and the modern Skyhawk and Aermacchi. DAY 5: Auckland – Rotorua (B,L,D)
This morning enjoy a city sights tour of Auckland which includes a visit to the Auckland War Memorial Museum. On a guided tour you will hear how warfare played a major role in shaping New Zealand’s identity. The display here is extensive and includes a Spitfire and Japanese Zero. Continue through the picturesque countryside to Hobbiton for lunch followed by an experience of the real Middle-earth with a visit to the Hobbiton Movie Set. A guide will escort you through the ten acre site recounting fascinating details of how the set was created. Continue to the geothermal wonderland of Rotorua. Hotel Millenium Rotorua (2 nights)
DAY 6: Rotorua (B,SD)
Today begins with a Gondola ride to the Stratosfare Restaurant where a buffet breakfast and spectacular views are on offer. There is also time for a luge ride! Next stop is the Agrodome for an action packed hour of farming entertainment and education that’s unlike anything you’ve seen before. Travel to Te Puia for a tour of the boiling mud pools and awesome Geysers that Rotorua is famous for. Enjoy some free time this afternoon before travelling to a Maori Village for an interactive and educational experience which culminates with a cultural performance and traditional hangi feast.
DAY 7: Rotorua – Auckland – Queenstown (B)
Travel to Auckland Airport where you will board a local flight to the resort town of Queenstown, located in the South Island. Meet your South Island Coach Captain who will transfer you to your hotel. This evening is free to dine at one of the many fine restaurants in town.

DAY 8: Queenstown – Wanaka (B,D)
Today you have the choice of either a free day in Queenstown or travelling to Wanaka for the opening day of the Warbirds Over Wanaka Airshow. No flying will occur today, however some practice will be happening overhead. On the ground check out the static displays which include classic cars and Warhorses (military vehicles), sport aircraft, stationary engines, WOWMart (used aircraft parts for sale), NASA, aviation training organisations and aviation trade stands. Taste wine and food from Central Otago, or use your voucher to visit the Warbirds and Wheels Museum, which showcases the story of Sir Tim Wallis, founder of the Warbirds Over Wanaka International Airshow.
DAY 9: Warbirds Over Wanaka (B,D)
Travel to Wanaka over the next two days where Wanaka Airport will become your home as you are entertained by the world’s best display pilots flying aircraft overhead. Your ticket will gain you access to the Gold Pass Enclosure. Enjoy the ultimate in airshow luxury as you will be situated on the flight line with grandstand seating and a plush marquee where you can relax in comfort and watch the show from the best seats in the house.
DAY 10: Warbirds Over Wanaka (B,D)
On the final day of the Airshow you will see extraordinary flying acts with famous military fighter aircraft spanning 100 years through to the jets of today. See the Corsair, Kittyhawk, Spitfire, Mustang and RNZAF’s new Black Falcons aerobatic display. The show culminates in a huge mock air battle complete with pyrotechnics.
DAY 11: Queenstown – Mt Cook (B,D)
This morning travel to Arrowtown, best known for its spectacular autumn colours. Visit the Lakes District Museum a treasure trove of stories and exhibits about the exciting mining era of the late 1800s. View spectacular mountain scenery as you travel to Mt Cook/Aoraki, New Zealand’s highest peak. There is an opportunity for a scenic flight over the Southern Alps (optional, weather permitting). DAY 12: Mt Cook – Christchurch (B,SD)
Today drive to Lake Tekapo and view the brilliant turquoise water, visit the Church of the Good Shepherd and see the Sheep Dog Statue before arriving into Christchurch. This afternoon visit the Air Force Museum of New Zealand where a ‘behind the scenes’ tour showcases the restoration projects in action and provides the rare opportunity to walk through the Bristol Freighter and Andover. DAY 13: Depart Christchurch (B)
Time to say goodbye. You’ll be transferred to the airport for your flight home after a memorable New Zealand holiday.
