DAY 1 – ARRIVE MELBOURNE, CROWN CASINO DINNER
On arrival into Melbourne Airport at your own arrangements (please arrive prior to 2pm) your host and coach will be waiting and we make our way into the city and then check into our hotel. Later we transfer to the Crown Casino for our Welcome Buffet Dinner this evening. Overnight: Best Western Plus Travel Inn (D)
DAY 2 – TORQUAY, APOLLO BAY
Today we make our way to the Great Ocean Road for a breathtaking drive along one of Australia’s most spectacular coastlines. We pass through the coastal towns of Torquay and Anglesea to Lorne. We stop for a wander around this popular seaside village then continue on to Apollo Bay for tonight’s accommodation which overlooks the Southern Ocean. Overnight: Skenes Creek Lodge (B,D)
DAY 3 – OTWAY RANGES, 12 APOSTLES, SHIPWRECK COAST, WARRNAMBOOL
Our journey this morning winds its way through the forests of the Otway Ranges and we arrive at the spectacular Otway Fly – a tree top walk, the longest and highest canopy walk of its kind in the world. The tree tops view of the Otways is an experience well worth the effort! We enjoy morning tea before we arrive to see the iconic Twelve Apostles. We then stop in Port Campbell for some free time. This afternoon see the ill-fated London Bridge while we travel along the Shipwreck Coast. Overnight: Mid City Motor Inn, Warrnambool (B,M/T,D)
DAY 4 – FLAGSTAFF MARITIME VILLAGE, SHIPWRECK LASER LIGHT SHOW
We enjoy a guided tour of Warrnambool this morning to learn its interesting history. We also enjoy a tasting at Cheeseworld, then on to the Botanic Gardens. Following some free time in the town centre, we spend the remainder of the afternoon at Flagstaff Hill Maritime Village. We wander through the State Heritage-listed Lady Bay Lighthouse. Flagstaff also holds the richest collection of Shipwreck artifacts in Australia. We make our way back to our hotel for dinner, then return to enjoy the wonderful sound and light show called ‘Shipwrecked’. This is a spectacular show that takes us on a journey through raging seas and unforgiving coastlines. Overnight: Mid City Motor Inn, Warrnambool (B,D)
DAY 5 – PORT FAIRY, MT GAMBIER
Port Fairy today and discover its rich maritime history and colonial character which has been faithfully preserved in the original Victorian buildings. From here we travel through to Portland for lunch at the Richmond Henty Hotel. Our drive this afternoon takes us through Nelson to Port MacDonnell. This is SA’s most southerly point and is a rugged coastline with uninterrupted views. We then arrive in Mt Gambier for our stop tonight. Overnight: Comfort Inn Silver Birch, Mt Gambier (B,L,D)
DAY 6 – BLUE LAKE, VICTOR HARBOR
Our first appointment this morning is at the new Blue Lake Visitors Centre where we will meet our guide for a tour. We hear a fascinating story with comprehensive information about this most unique volcano. From here we travel to Robe, a historic port with streets of heritage cottages and loads of character. We then make our way to Coorong National Park and on to Victor Harbor. Overnight: Apollon Motel, Victor Harbor (B,D)
DAY 7 – KANGAROO ISLAND
Cape Jervis this morning to board the Ferry Service to Kangaroo Island. We plan to visit a few unique ventures today, the first one is Clifford’s Honey Farm – home to Kangaroo Island’s own population of Ligurian bees producing 10,000 kilograms of honey each year. Then the Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery where we are taken on a tour and enjoy lunch. This afternoon we visit Island Pure – a local sheep dairy. Kingscote for the next two nights where our hotel has stunning views overlooking Nepean Bay. Overnight: Aurora Ozone Hotel, Kangaroo Island (B,L,D)
DAY 8 – KANGAROO ISLAND
Today we visit Seal Bay and the Flinders Chase National Park. We meet our guide at the famous Seal Bay for our chance to walk on the beach amongst the colony of Sea Lions. It is an unforgettable experience to be guided by a National Parks Ranger, within metres of the bulls, cows and sea pups. We then head to Flinders Chase National Park and stop for lunch at The Chase Café at the Visitors Centre. This afternoon we visit Remarkable Rocks, Cape du Couedic and Admirals Arch where, via a spectacular board walk, we can see close up a colony of New Zealand Fur
Seals who live in the sea and the rocks just below us. Overnight: Aurora Ozone Hotel, Kangaroo Island (B,L,D)
DAY 9 – ARRIVE ADELAIDE
This morning we join the ferry service back to the mainland. From Cape Jervis we return to Victor Harbor for some free time to look through the various shops and cafes. This afternoon we drive the Southern Vales wine region on our way to Adelaide and check into our hotel for our Farewell Dinner. Overnight: Adelaide Rockford Hotel (B,D)
DAY 10 – GLENELG, HOMEWARD BOUND
Following breakfast and check out we make our way to the seaside suburb of Glenelg for some free time and sightseeing before we have a short transfer to the airport for your flight home. Return flights not included. Please arrange flights anytime from 1.30pm onwards. Extra nights in Adelaide upon request.
