DAY 1. Arrive Sydney (L,D)
Flights arrive in Sydney mid-morning where we board our luxurious coach to make our way into the CBD for lunch at the Chinese Garden of Friendship. Next up we visit Madame Tussauds, taking the red-carpet entry to this celebrity experience and meeting a stunning collection of lifelike wax figures. We then make our way to Circular Quay to check-in to our hotel. Tonight, enjoy welcome drinks with your fellow passengers and crew before dinner in the hotel restaurant. 2 Night Stay: Sir Stamford Hotel at Circular Quay
DAY 2. Riverboat Postman, Sydney Showboat (B,L,D)
Today we join the Riverboat Postman, established in 1910, as it delivers mail and other essentials to the river access-only settlements on the Lower Hawkesbury River. Enjoy lunch on board and be entertained by the stories of the river whilst cruising in comfort up this spectacular waterway. On returning to Sydney the rest of the afternoon is at your leisure. Dinner tonight is on Sydney Showboat where we experience a magical dinner cruise and cabaret show with live performances by a talented cast of dancers, singers and magicians, all dressed to impress! Enjoy a delicious 3-course meal while watching the glittering entertainers light up the stage. Stroll the spacious deck for fantastic views of Sydney Harbour Bridge, Sydney Opera House and other landmarks. **Please note: Showboat cruises have advised that they will not cater for special dietary needs such as gluten, dairy or nut free.
DAY 3. Blue Mountains (B,L,D)
Departing the hustle and bustle of the city we travel up to the majestic World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains. We arrive at Scenic World, home to Scenic Railway, Skyway, Cableway and Rainforest Walkway. Glide between cliff tops on the Scenic Skyway, with 360° views, the journey provides the best views of Katoomba Falls, the Three Sisters, and Jamison Valley. Descend into the Jamison Valley on the Cableway providing a unique vantage point above the tree tops. Discover the tranquillity of ancient rainforest strolling along on a guided walk through the Rainforest Walkway. From here we travel to the historic Hydro Majestic Hotel for lunch and gossip tour of this iconic hotel. We make our way to our accommodation via a visit to the spectacular Echo Point look-out. 2 Night Stay: Fairmont Resort, Leura
DAY 4. Jenolan Caves (B,L,D)
Today we travel west through Mount Victoria and onto Jenolan Caves where we discover the amazing limestone crystal formations during a private guided tour of the Imperial Cave where we follow an ancient river passage (**Please note: This path is mostly level, with short sets of stairs). After lunch at historic Caves House we take the indigenous surface walking tour ‘Shaping Waters’ and learn how the Gundungurra people utilised the caves, then return to our hotel.
DAY 5. Bathurst, Cowra (B,L,D)
Departing the Blue Mountains, we travel via Lithgow on to Bathurst, which is the oldest inland settlement in Australia, and the birth place of Ben Chifley, Prime Minister of Australia 1945-1949. Here with a local guide, we take a tour of the city before taking time for lunch and tour at Abercrombie House, a perfect example of Victorian Tudor style architecture built in the 1870’s. We continue west to the town of Cowra, a town steeped in history with the remnants of a World War 2 POW camp. 1 Night Stay: Cowra Services Club Motel, Cowra
DAY 6. Cowra, Goulburn, Bowral (B,L,D)
First up today we visit the World War 2 POW Camp, the Japanese War Cemetery, and the Australian World Peace Bell awarded to Cowra in 1992 for its long-standing contribution to world peace and international understanding. We depart Cowra and continue south through Boorowa and onto Goulburn, home to the ‘Big Merino’. Here at Goulburn we break for lunch before continuing into the Southern Tablelands town of Bowral where we visit the famous Bradman Museum for guided tour before we make our way to our accommodation. 1 Night Stay: Gibraltar Hotel, Bowral
DAY 7. Kangaroo Valley, Kiama, Newcastle (B,L,D)
Departing Bowral we travel via the scenic Kangaroo Valley to the seaside town of Kiama. A photo shoot (favourable conditions apply) at the famous ‘Blow Hole’ before we continue along the coast skirting Wollongong to the famous ‘Sea Cliff Bridge’. We travel up the escarpment to Panorama House for lunch with a bird’s eye view of the Illawarra coast. After lunch we make our way through the western suburbs of Sydney to Newcastle where we check-in to our accommodation. 2 Night Stay: Rydges Hotel, Newcastle
DAY 8. Newcastle (B,L,D)
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before boarding Newcastle’s ’Famous Tram’, a very novel and nostalgic way to explore the City of Newcastle with its
beaches and historic sights. After our sightseeing tour we embark on a 2.5 hour cruise on Newcastle Harbour extending to the Hunter River and Kooragang Wetlands. The voyage takes us past all the new precincts of the Honeysuckle development, into the Carrington Basin and along the Steelworks Channel being the working sectors of the harbour. We then enter the Stockton Channel and travel under the Stockton Bridge to the mouth of the Hunter River. We find a peaceful and calm location to cruise whilst you enjoy a summer season buffet spread.
DAY 9. Wauchope, South West Rocks (B,L,D)
Hugging the eastern seaboard we make our way to Wauchope visiting Timbertown Heritage Theme Park. Take time to walk through the heritage park that will awaken your senses with sights, sounds, smells and tastes from the late 1800s to early 1900s period. Here we have lunch before we continue north to the town of South West Rocks taking time at Trial Bay Gaol, a heritage listed building which was constructed in 1877 and where the prisoners of the gaol were engaged in constructing a breakwater. After our visit to the gaol we make the short trip to our accommodation. 1 Night Stay: Rock Pool Motor Inn, South West Rocks
DAY 10. Coffs Harbour, Woodburn, Brisbane (B,MT,L)
We board the coach and make our way back to the highway and head north passing through the town of Coffs Harbour. After our break, we continue on to our next stop – New Italy, an area near Woodburn that was taken up by Italian Immigrants back in the 1880’s. Here the Museum presents the history of the Italian migration to Australia. We have lunch here before we continue back into Roma Street, Brisbane.
