8 Days Cairns, Cape Tribulation and Fabulous Fitzroy

Day 1. Depart Brisbane

Depart for your journey on either the Cairns Tilt Train or Sunlander in comfort.

Day 2. Cairns arrival & Night Markets

Arrive in Cairns and transfer to Hides Hotel which is located conveniently in the city centre. Enjoy dinner this evening on our Colonial Hotel veranda which looks over the Cairns City Mall. After your meal, our tour host will take on a short stroll to the night markets if you wish. (D)

Day 3. Taste of Tablelands & Kuranda Skyrail

Breakfast, then depart by coach to the Tablelands on the outskirts of Cairns. The first stop is the majestic Lake Barrine for Devonshire Tea. You will then travel onward to witness the Curtain Fig Tree.  We travel through the town of Yungaburra and stop for an early lunch at Gallo Dairy Farm. You will then travel through Atherton and Mareeba and stopping at Jaques Coee Plantation. We then travel to Kuranda and take the Skyrail back to the base station. You will be met by the bus and returned to the Hotel in Cairns. Two course dinner tonight. (BLD)

Day 4. Port Douglas, Mossman Gorge, Daintree River Cruise, Cape Tribulation Day Tour

Breakfast, then depart by bus for a great day of touring. Firstly a picturesque drive up the coast to Port Douglas. Then we make our way to Mossman Gorge and onward to the Daintree River for morning tea and a boat cruise. We then travel onward and make our way to Cape Tribulation. This is also where we will have lunch today. We will then take a short drive to the Daintree Discovery Centre and learn more about this beautiful rainforest area. For those of you who wish to do so, you can walk the man made structure through the canopy of the trees .We will then go back across the river by vehicular cable ferry and make our way back to Cairns Hides hotel. Two course dinner tonight. (BLD)

Day 5. Tropical Fitzroy Island

Breakfast, then you will be collected by bus and taken to the Cairns Reef Terminal. Cruise for a short time by a large stable catamaran vessel to Fitzroy Island. Whilst on the island you will have a conducted glass bottom boat ride with informative commentary as you glide across the top of the reef and tropical fish.  A delicious lunch is served to you at the island’s alfresco restaurant. Afterwards, there is snorkelling equipment made available to our guests for use today. Or perhaps you may wish to explore the island on the picturesque walks. Travel back to Cairns this afternoon. Two course dinner tonight. (BLD)

Day 6. Habitat Cruise the Trinity Inlet

Breakfast, today enjoy a scenic calm water cruise up the Trinity Inlet half day tour. Excellent commentary while on board, take in the sights and learn about local flora, fauna, culture and history. Return to Cairns via coach while viewing the outer city sights and mountain scenery. Lunch today at hotel.  Free time this afternoon to relax, shop in Cairns or visit other Cairns city attractions. Two course dinner tonight. (BLD)

Day 7. Depart Cairns

After breakfast this morning, the group will depart to meet the train today.(B)

Day 8. Arrive Home

You will arrive at your home station today after enjoying a scenic rail journey from Northern Queensland with your new found friends.
