DAY 1 – Brisbane to Yepoon (L,AT,D)

Enjoy a warm welcome by your tour host/ess at Brisbane’s Roma Street Station luggage check-in area before boarding the innovative Tilt Train. Settle into your Business Class reclinable seat as you are transported through some of the most beautiful scenery in Southern Queensland. Relax and enjoy the onboard entertainment, or simply take in the panoramic views of Queensland’s changing landscape. We have arranged for lunch and afternoon tea to be served to you at your seat today. Upon your arrival into Rockhampton, you will be greeted by our coach captain behind the wheel of our new ‘Diamond Class’ coach. We enjoy dinner in Rockhampton before making our way to the coastal township of Yeppoon where we will check-in to our beachfront accommodation. 5 Night Stay: Ocean View Rooms at Salt, Yeppoon. **Please note: As accommodation is apartment style, there is no service to rooms during our stay.

DAY 2 – Great Keppel Island (B,L,D)

Today we cruise through the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, the largest heritage listed area in the world. On arrival our cruise crew will advise times for our glass bottom boat venture for a coral viewing and fish feeding tour. We then get some free time on the island, enjoying lunch overlooking the pristine waters off Great Keppel Island.

DAY 3 – Emu Park, Koorana Crocodile Farm (B,L,D)

This morning we take an incredible scenic drive along the Capricorn Coast breaking at Emu Park to visit the Singing Ship. Set against a spectacular coastal vista of blue seas and Great Keppel Island in the distance, the Singing Ship is a majestic monument that commemorates the area’s legacy of the historical explorations of Captain James Cook. The unique design allows for the gentle sea breezes to pass through the fluted pipes to produce musical sounds that will be long remembered. We continue on to Koorana Crocodile Farm, home to over 3000 salt water crocodiles. Enjoy a fascinating insight and tour of a commercial crocodile farm, not your everyday tourism theme park. We return to our hotel mid-afternoon to enjoy some free time downtown.

DAY 4 – Capricorn Caves, Rockhampton (B,L,D)

This morning we explore the unique Capricorn Caves for a 1-hour underground tour of Cathedral Cave. Follow your experienced guide into the brightly lit limestone cavern that contains rare ferns, massive tree roots, and some small bats. The high-domed Cathedral Cave is renowned for its acoustics and as a setting for special events. Near the finishing point of the tour, you can pass through the pioneer passage and walk across a suspended swinging bridge in the rain forest. From here we make our way to Rockhampton, taking a city sights tour before arriving at the Botanic Gardens and Zoo. Enjoy lunch followed by a guided tour of the gardens, finishing with a feeding tour of the zoo.

DAY 5 – Byfield, Footlights Theatre Restaurant (B,L,D)

Today we head into the untouched tropical rainforest of Byfield and board the cruising vessel ‘Water Dance’. This lovely guided voyage down the beautiful rainforest of Waterpark Creek takes in an array of wildlife such as azure kingfishers, baby turtles and tortoises, eels, cormorants and the impressive water dragons. Our guide will help us spot the elusive Byfield Fern, native and unique to Byfield. We break for a cuppa before boarding a safari bus for a firsthand look at the Tea Tree farm. A wealth of information is gained on the area as we scoot along the airstrip and take in the mountain views. Dive into the Tea Tree and smell the unique fragrance on your hands. After learning about the harvesting process, we head to the distillery to discover the oil extraction process and the many attributes of this great product. We enjoy lunch at Ferns Hideaway in Byfield Forest before returning to our hotel. Tonight, we get together for a dinner and show at Footlights Theatre Restaurant where we enjoy a top-class comedy variety show and three course dinner.

DAY 6 – Seventeen Seventy (B,L,D)

This morning we leave the beautiful Capricorn Coast and slowly make our way south to arrive at Seventeen Seventy (formerly known as the Town of 1770), a picturesque seaside village surrounded on three sides by the Coral Sea and Bustard Bay. As the second landing site of James Cook and the crew of the Endeavour in May 1770, the area is rich in history, wildlife and natural beauty and offers scenic vistas in every direction. Upon arrival, we enjoy lunch poolside at our resort before we check-in. In the mid to late afternoon light, we board the LARC (an amphibious vessel), and as the sun approaches the horizon signalling the end of another beautiful day, we cross Round Hill Creek in the Southern Great Barrier Reef and travel along the coastline of Eurimbula National Park. Watch as the sky and sea transform into pastel hues and experience the peaceful solitude and changing moods of this tropical paradise, all whilst taking in the local wildlife such as kangaroos, sea eagles, turtles, dolphins and stingrays, just to name a few! 1 Night Stay: Lagoons 1770 Resort & Spa

DAY 7 – Brisbane (B,MT,L)

Homeward bound this morning, we break at historic Childers for a cuppa and take time to visit the Palace Backpackers Memorial. Back on the road our next stop is at the historic Hideaway Hotel in Tiaro where we enjoy a BBQ lunch in the beer garden before returning to Brisbane Transit Centre at approximately 4:30pm.
