Day 1: Tuesday – Indian Pacific, Adelaide

Depart Adelaide aboard the Indian Pacific to take in the striking, ever-changing landscape of South Australia as you head east towards Sydney. Over lunch, watch the passing of scenery on approach to Broken Hill. Here you will have the opportunity to participate in an Off Train Excursion before re-joining the train for dinner. (L,D)

Day 2: Wednesday – Indian Pacific, Sydney

Wake this morning in readiness to wind your way through the magnificent Blue Mountains where you will disembark the train to explore the highlights of the region. Take in the beauty of this World Heritage listed landscape via the scenic walkways and cable car. See the majestic Three Sisters at Echo Point and the views at Jamieson Valley before continuing your journey into Sydney Central Station. On arrival make your own way to your accommodation. (B)

Day 3: Thursday – Manly and Bondi

A thorough introduction to Sydney and its surrounds today. Travel to Manly for a leisurely stroll along The Corso to see the beach that has made the suburb famous. Along the way to Manly, you will view Darling Harbour and cross the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Stop at Milsons Point for spectacular views of the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge. Stop at North Head Lookout for a panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean. Enjoy your time at Manly before heading back to Sydney via the exclusive and trendy suburbs of Neutral Bay and Mosman. This afternoon join your cruise to Taronga Zoo. With more than 4,000 animals to see, and more than 20 keeper talks and shows a day, your afternoon will be packed full of experiences. (B)

Day 4: Friday – Sydney

Experience Sydney from a local perspective. Explore all the city icons including The Rocks, Sydney Harbour Bridge, and the Sydney Opera House, but explore them in a way most tourists don’t. Take the lesser-walked path on this Sydney walking tour and meander through this fascinating city’s tumultuous history and into the modern day. This historic Sydney walk will introduce you to the old and new of Sydney, walk past Cadman’s Cottage, the oldest building in Australia, under the Harbour Bridge, and along the newest development in the city, Barangaroo. Take a stroll down Argyle Place, Nurses Walk and other ‘must do’ sights such as Customs House and the Sydney Opera House – all with your local guide to show you the bits you’d miss on your own. This Sydney tour is a ‘warts and all’ account of the birth of modern Australia, the legacies left from decisions made, and the people who made them: those who won, those who lost, and everyone in between. Factual, funny, irreverent and anecdotal – this Sydney walking tour is a great local experience packed full of local history. The remainder of your day is free to further explore the city of Sydney at your leisure. (B)

Day 5: Saturday – Sydney

This morning after breakfast, check out of your hotel. (B)
