DAY 1: SUNDAY OR WEDNESDAY – The Ghan

Join The Ghan, settle into the comforts of this great train as you journey north towards Spencer Gulf and Port Augusta. Enjoy dinner in the Queen Adelaide Restaurant, meet your fellow travellers in the Outback Explorer Lounge or simply enjoy the views from your private cabin. (D)

DAY 2: MONDAY OR THURSDAY – Outback and Alice Springs

After arriving in Alice Springs you’ll have time to enjoy an off train Explore and Discover Stop before reboarding The Ghan and continuing your journey north overnight. (BLD)

DAY 3: TUESDAY OR FRIDAY – Katherine and Darwin

Join an off train Explore and Discover Stop at Nitmiluk National Park, home to Katherine Gorge and ancient aboriginal rock art. Hop back on board for your journey north through the lush, Top End countryside before arriving in Darwin. Transfer to the Holiday Inn Esplanade, your base for the next 3 nights. (BL)

DAY 4: WEDNESDAY OR SATURDAY – Darwin

The morning is free for you to relax in this warm and cosmopolitan city before joining your city sights tour in the afternoon for the perfect overview of Darwin. See the lush Botanical Gardens and the Chinese Temple, which was rebuilt after it was totally demolished by Cyclone Tracy in 1974. Tour the historic sites of the city including the East Point Military Precinct. See the Stokes Hill Wharf area and the Mooring Basin. There is also time available to explore the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory, whose collections encompass Aboriginal art, visual arts and Northern Territory history and natural sciences. DAY 5: THURSDAY OR SUNDAY – Darwin and Jumping Crocodiles

Spend the morning at leisure, as this afternoon you are in form areal treat – the famous Adelaide River Jumping Crocodile Cruise. Just 60km from Darwin lies the Adelaide River, home to over 1600 crocodiles and the location of the famous Jumping Crocodiles. Cruise the river and thrill as these awesome prehistoric creatures leap out of the water right next to the boat! Afterwards, visit the Window on the Wetlands Visitors Centre for stunning views over the Marrakai Plains and then its on to Fogg Dam Nature Reserve before returning to Darwin city. (B)

DAY 6: FRIDAY OR MONDAY – Darwin

After breakfast check out of your hotel. (B)
