Day 1 (Mon) – THE GHAN, ALICE SPRINGS
Your journey begins when you join The Ghan in Alice Springs and our friendly staff welcome you onboard. Take some time to settle into the comforts of your cabin and discover the amenities available. Immerse yourself in the social atmosphere of the Outback Explorer Lounge and as night falls make your way to the Queen Adelaide Restaurant for a sumptuous three course dinner, in the company of new found friends. Day 2 (Thur) – THE GHAN, KATHERINE AND DARWIN
Wake to a stunning outback sunrise just beyond your window. Devour a full cooked breakfast, or enjoy a number of lighter menu options, before the train rolls to a stop into Katherine. Today you will discover the wonders of Nitmiluk (Katherine) Gorge with a variety of Off Train Excursions to choose from. Back onboard, make your way to the Queen Adelaide Restaurant for a late lunch. Spend the afternoon relaxing, before arriving at your final destination. Roll into Darwin and be transferred to the city centre. Your next three nights are at Darwin Central Hotel. (B,L)
Day 3 (Wed) – LITCHFIELD NATIONAL PARK
First stop of the day is Florence Falls, where you have the opportunity for a scenic walk, or the chance for a swim in the plunge pool below. Travel on to Tolmer Falls for magnificent views of the water cascading down to the deep waterhole at the base of the falls. To finish the day you will visit Wangi Falls, another relaxing spot for a swim. There are many great opportunities for photos of the waterfalls, rock pools and the amazing stands of termite mounds. Day 4 (Thur) – DARWIN, JUMPING CROCS & NATURE
This morning is your free to explore Darwin at your leisure. Why not make your way down to the waterfront and enjoy the tropical Darwin weather. Much of Darwin’s action happens along its revitalised waterfront, which is lined with restaurants, shops, sandy lagoons and parklands.
This afternoon, your jumping croc adventure begins. Just 60km from Darwin lies the Adelaide River, home to over 1600 crocodiles. Travel down the Stuart Highway to the Adelaide River, enjoying commentary about the outskirts of Darwin along the way. Cruise the river and thrill as these awesome creatures launch themselves out of the water. The cruise will enable you to see these prehistoric creatures at close range. Afterwards continue to the Window on the Wetlands Visitor Centre for views over the Marrakai Plains and then it’s on to Fogg Dam Nature Reserve to view a wetland ecosystem up close. (B)
