5 Days Fraser and Coral Coast Christmas Celebrations

Day 1 – Sun 23rD Dec 2012 – Tilt Train to Maryborough

Board the Tilt Train at Roma St Station Brisbane (scheduled to depart at 11am) bound for Maryborough. Upon our arrival be greeted by ‘Mary Heritage’ dressed in fabulous period costume. She will delight you as she takes us on a historic city sights tour of this magnificent city and its colourful past. Arrive and check-in to The Carriers Arms Motel, Maryborough for a 4 night stay. Tonight we join `Mary Christmas’ to tour the fabulous display of Maryborough’s Christmas lights by night. (D)

Day 2 – Mon 24Th Dec 2012 – Bundaberg, Childers

Our day starts today with a visit to our feathered friends at Flying High Bird Sanctuary at Apple Tree Creek. This attraction is the largest walk through free flight aviary in Australia covering over 2 acres with a height of over 7 metres. There are 300 metres of walking tracks in a rainforest setting with Australian native, Asiatic and South American birds. We then head for Bundaberg breaking for lunch, and afterwards visit the Bundaberg Rum Distillery where you will smell and taste your way through the rum production process. You’ll enjoy a video presentation, extensive tour, personal sampling, historical displays and opportunity to purchase merchandise and some unique souvenirs. Our afternoon takes us home via the township of Childers. Tonight enjoy a Christmas themed Dinner & Show with ‘Manuel’ the waiter and ‘Alfie’, Santa’s CEO (Chief Elf Officer). (B,L,D)

Day 3 – Tue 25Th Dec 2012 – Merry Christmas on Fraser Island

Merry Christmas! A festive breakfast together before we depart for the Marina where we board our vessel for Kingfisher Bay Resort, on Fraser Island. Our Christmas Day festive feast of traditional and seafood cuisine is in the Grand Ballroom. We return to the mainland at approximately 3.30pm. Tonight a light dinner will be supplied and we will all gather and meet around the pool to enjoy the rest of Christmas Day celebrations. (B,L,D)

Day 4 – WeD 26Th Dec 2012 – Dolphin Watch Cruise

An adventure on the bay awaits us today as we board Whalesong Cruises for the Dolphin Watch Cruise. We cruise the pristine, calm, protected waterways which lie between Hervey Bay & Fraser Island. Enjoy the unspoilt scenery & keep a look out for a wide variety of wildlife as we cruise up into the bay, past Hervey Bay’s monumental Pier & the bright white sands of Pelican Banks. Seen regularly on the Dolphin Watch Cruise are dolphins, stingrays, turtles, fish, birdlife, and occasionally the endangered Dugong (sea cow). On our return to the mainland we lunch at the Hervey Bay Boat Club and return to Maryborough via the esplanade precinct and Burrum Heads. (B,MT,L,D)

Day 5 – Thur 27Th Dec 2012 – Return to Brisbane

After breakfast this morning we visit the famous Maryborough Heritage City Markets before being transferred to the Tilt Train for our return journey. Scheduled arrival back into Roma St Station is 2.50pm. (B)
