DAY 1 – Arrive Auckland

Arrive into Auckland to meet your experienced local Coach Captain. Overnight Stay: Grand Millennium Hotel, Auckland. (D)

DAY 2 – Auckland City Sights, Bay of Islands

Today enjoy an Auckland city sights tour before travelling to the Parry Kauri Park to see a magnificent example of a Kauri Tree. Then continue through Whangarei to the Bay of Islands to enjoy a guided tour of the Waitangi Treaty Grounds. 2 Night Stay: 4-star Scenic Hotel Bay of Islands. (B,L,D)

DAY 3 – Bay of Islands

Enjoy stunning views of the beautiful Bay of Islands on a full day cruise. Keep an eye out for bottlenose and common dolphins, and take in famous Hole in the Rock. (B,L,D)

DAY 4 – Kauri Museum, Auckland

Farewelling the Bay of Islands we drive south via Dargaville to Matakohe visiting the Kauri Museum. From here we continue to Auckland’s north shore for some free time. Overnight Stay: The Spencer on Byron Hotel, Takapuna Beach, Auckland (B,L,D)

DAY 5 – Hobbiton, Rotorua

Departing Auckland we make our way to Hobbiton where we take a fascinating tour of the movie set from the Lord of the Rings film. We continue onto Longlands Farm & Restaurant, for a delicious home cooked lunch hosted by a rural New Zealand family. 2 Night Stay: Sudima Hotel, Rotorua. (B,L,D)

DAY 6 – Rotorua

Take a gondola ride and a luge ride if you dare at Skyline Rotorua! Next stop is the Agrodome for an action packed hour of farming entertainment and education. Enjoy some free time this afternoon before travelling to Te Puia to see the boiling mud pools and Geysers that Rotorua is famous for. This evening experience an entertaining Maori Hangi and Concert. DAY 7 – Huka Falls, Lake Taupo, Wellington

Travel along the Thermal Explorer Highway to the spectacular Huka Falls, arriving at Lake Taupo for some free time. Later, we travel via the Tongariro National Park and Kapiti Coast to Wellington. 2 Night Stay: James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor, Wellington (B,L,D)

DAY 8 – Wellington

Explore Wellington on a guided tour, taking time at Te Papa, New Zealand’s National Museum, with exhibits that embrace both Maori and European culture. Free time at leisure this afternoon. (B,L,D)

DAY 9 – Interislander Ferry, Blenheim

Board the Interislander Ferry, cross Cook Strait and enjoy the stunning scenery of the Marlborough Sounds en-route to Picton. After lunch travel south to Blenheim for a visit to Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre showcasing a collection of aircraft from WWI to WWII. 1 Night Stay: Scenic Hotel Marlborough or Chateau Marlborough (B,L,D)

DAY 10 – Christchurch

Travel through the alpine village of St Arnaud and the scenic Lewis Pass to arrive in Christchurch for an informative city tour. 1 Night Stay: Quality Hotel Elms, Christchurch (B,L,D)

DAY 11 – TranzAlpine Rail Journey, Hokitika, Franz Josef

Board the TranzAlpine, one of the great train journeys of the world. Travel over massive viaducts, river valleys and spectacular gorges and ascend to Arthur’s Pass in the Southern Alps. Travel via coach to Hokitika, before arriving at Franz Josef where time is available for a scenic flight over the spectacular glaciers (Flight is optional, at own expense, weather permitting and not guaranteed). 1 Night Stay: Scenic Hotel, Franz Josef Glacier (B,L,D)

DAY 12 – Haast Pass, Queenstown

See the snow-capped peaks of the Southern Alps whilst travelling via the Haast Pass then on to picturesque Queenstown, situated on the shores of magical Lake Wakatipu. 2 Night Stay: Copthorne Hotel and Resort Lakefront, Queenstown (B,L,D)

DAY 13 – Free Day in Queenstown, Lake Wakatipu evening cruise

Today is a free day to explore Queenstown with many options on offer. This evening board the vintage steamship TSS Earnslaw and cruise across Lake Wakatipu to Walter Peak Station. Sit back, relax and enjoy a gourmet barbecue dinner at the Colonel’s Homestead. After dinner take a farm tour then reboard the TSS Earnslaw for a sing along by the piano on your return cruise. (B,D)

DAY 14 – Arrowotwn, Milford Sound Cruise

This morning travel to Arrowtown and visit the Lakes District Museum. Continue via Te Anau to Milford Sound and board the Milford Mariner for an overnight cruise. There is plenty of time to view the fiord’s spectacular waterfalls, rainforest, mountains and wildlife – encounter seals and maybe dolphins and penguins. 1 Night Stay: Milford Mariner Cruise (B,L,D)

DAY 15 – Lake Te Anau

Start the day heading back out to the Tasman Sea (weather permitting) to explore more of the fiord. This afternoon take a cruise across Lake Te Anau to visit the Glow Worm Caves and admire the incredible limestone caverns, waterfalls and mystery of the Glow Worm Grotto.and mystery of the glow worm grotto. 1 Night Stay: Distinction Luxmore Hotel, Te Anau (B,L,D)

DAY 16 – Gore, Balclutha, Dunedin

Travel via Gore and Balclutha to Wingatui to board the Taieri Gorge train. Enjoy the journey by rail through spectacular scenery to arrive in Dunedin. 2 Night Stay: Scenic Hotel Southern Cross, Dunedin (B,L,D)

DAY 17 – Dunedin & Surrounds

This morning travel along the beautiful Otago Peninsula to Larnach Castle for a guided tour. This afternoon join a wildlife cruise & travel to the spectacular Taiaroa Head for a chance to sight albatross, New Zealand fur seals and other marine mammals as well as up to 20 species of ocean birds. Tonight is Scottish evening with bagpipes, great food and a traditional Haggis ceremony. (B,L,D)

DAY 18 – Dunedin, Oamaru, Christchurch

This morning visit Dunedin’s Olveston House, a prestigious historic home, before travelling to Oamaru, famous for its limestone. This evening enjoy a farewell dinner. 1 Night Stay: Sudima Hotel, Christchurch Airport. (B,L,D)

DAY 19 Saturday – Flights home

It’s time to say goodbye to New Zealand and transfer to the airport for homebound flights. (B)
