Day 1. 30 Sep 2013: Arrive Adelaide, Kangaroo Island
Arrive in Adelaide and take the scenic route to Cape Jervis where we board the ferry for transfers to Kangaroo Island and check in to the Seaside Inn for a 3 night stay. (D)
Day 2. 1 Oct 2013: Kangaroo Island
Visit Seal Bay Conservation Park and walk along the beach among Australia’s largest breeding colony of Australian Sea Lions. We visit Raptor Domain, marvel at the natural hunting abilities of these beautiful & spectacular Birds of Prey. We relax over a BBQ lunch then head off to the Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery, manufacturer of fascinating traditional Aussie bush products. During our visit we get to see, hear, touch and smell everything involved in the distilling process then head off to the Island Pure Sheep Dairy and watch the novel process of sheep milking. Later this afternoon we visit the nightly pelican feeding at Kingscote Beach. (B,L,D)
Day 3. 2 Oct 2013: Kangaroo Island
Visit Clifford’s Honey Farm where we see and hear about the unique Ligurian Bee (only found on Kangaroo Island). Next stop is the Andermel Marron Farm (freshwater crayfish) for a food and wine experience and farm tour. After lunch visit the impressive Remarkable Rocks, Admiral’s Arch, and watch fur seals play at close range at Cape du Couedic. (B,L,D)
Day 4. 3 Oct 2013: Hahndorf, Indian Pacific
Boarding the morning ferry we leave Kangaroo Island and head to picturesque McLaren Vale where we enjoy lunch, then continue our journey to the oldest German settlement in Australia – Hahndorf, for a look-about tour and free time. Tour the city sights of Adelaide, then travel to Adelaide Parklands to board the Indian Pacific for our journey to Perth. Enjoy Gold Service accommodation and dining on this journey which sees our first night taking us past the Flinders Ranges. (B,L,D)
Day 5. 4 Oct 2013: Indian Pacific
Heading west across the desolate Nullarbor, our first stop is at Cook, one of the world’s most remote outposts. Our journey continues with the next stop on our agenda being the ‘City of Gold’, Kalgoorlie where we part-take in a guided whistle stop tour that is included in your fare. (B,L,D)
Day 6. 5 Oct 2013: Perth
We arrive into Perth where our private coach meets us at the Indian Pacific Rail Terminal. We start our tour with a brief orientation tour of Perth before heading to Fremantle where we join Captain Cook Cruises for a scenic lunch cruise discovering the mansions in ‘Millionaire’s Row’. On our return to the city we take in the views of the South Perth foreshore, the Swan Bell Tower and Kings Park. Arrive and checkin at Miss Maud’s Swedish Hotel. (B,L,D)
Day 7. 6 Oct 2013: Wave Rock
This morning sit back and enjoy the scenery as we travel through the central wheat belt area to Corrigin for lunch before heading to Hyden, home of Wave Rock. We visit the Wildflower Centre, Wildlife Park and lace collection and enjoy a guided tour of Hippos Yawn before checking in at the Hyden Motel for an overnight stay. (B,L,D)
Day 8. 7 Oct 2013: Albany
Today we travel south through the grain growing town of Lake Grace into the Stirling Ranges. Marvel at the breathtaking views from Bluff Knoll where we have our lunch break. Travelling further south look for the ‘Sleeping Lady’ as we travel along Chester Pass to Albany. We stop briefly at the Desert Mounted Corps Memorial at Mt Clarence before checking in to the Dog Rock Motel for the next 2 nights (B,L,D)
Day 9. 8 Oct 2013: Albany and Surrounds
We start our day at the award winning heritage attraction of Whale World including the new living wildflower attraction and man-made interlinked Vancouver Wetlands. Following lunch we visit The Gap & Natural Bridge and the Valley of the Giants tree top walk. (B,L,D)
Day 10. 9 Oct 2013: Margaret River
We start our day visiting the Gloucester Tree Look-out, stopping at Pemberton for lunch then making our way into Margaret River where we stop at the Voyager Winery for a tour of their renowned Dutch style gardens and building. Enjoy a wine tasting if you wish before checking into The Grange on Farrelly for the night.. (B,L,D)
Day 11. 10 Oct 2013: Margaret River to Perth
A visit to the Margaret River Chocolate Factory is first on our agenda for today before we head out to Cape Naturalist, featuring the beautiful Canal Rocks and small bays. We take a break at Busselton for lunch then continue north enjoying the coastal scenery via Rockingham to Perth, checking in to Miss Mauds Swedish Hotel for 2 nights. . (B,L,D)
Day 12. 11 Oct 2013: Pinnacles, Perth
Today we’ll be making our way north west towards the coast and the seaside town of Cervantes. We stop for morning tea at New Norcia, home to a community of Benedictine Monks and beautiful architecture. We then visit the mystical limestone pillars at the Pinnacles Desert in Nambung National Park, then head back to Perth for our special finale dinner together. (B,L,D)
Day 13. 12 Oct 2013: Flights Home
Enjoy an early breakfast before being transferred to the airport for our flight back home. (B)
