DAY 1 – ARRIVE LAUNCESTON (D)

Our flight arrives in Launceston where we are met by our coach captain and take a tour of picturesque Launceston. We break in Cataract Gorge to take a ride on the world’s longest single span chairlift enjoying spectacular views of this unique piece of urban wilderness. 1 Night Stay: Country Club & Casino Tasmania, Launceston

DAY 2 – BEACONSFIELD, LEGERWOOD, ST HELENS (B,L,D)

Today we travel to Beauty Point stopping at Brady’s Lookout and Beaconsfield. Here we are given the choice of visiting the only Sea Horse Farm in the world or Platypus House. We then travel to East Tamar via the unique A-frame Batman Bridge. Lunch today is at The Lost Farm which offers spectacular views, before we travel to Legerwood to view the tree carvings – an amazing avenue of memorial tree carvings that are a lasting tribute to soldiers who lost their lives in WWI. Lastly, we continue down through Weldborough Pass to the seaside village of St Helens. 1 Night Stay: Tidal Waters Resort, St Helens

DAY 3 – WINEGLASS BAY CRUISE, COLES BAY (B,L,D)

We make our way to Coles Bay to enjoy spectacular scenery as we cruise to beautiful Wineglass Bay in Freycinet National Park – lunch on board features local Tasmanian products. This afternoon we arrive at stunning Freycinet Lodge overlooking the blue waters of Great Oyster Bay with the rugged Hazards mountain range as a backdrop. 1 Night Stay: Freycinet Lodge, Coles Bay

DAY 4 – CAMPBELL TOWN, ROSS, RICHMOND & HOBART (B,L,D)

This morning we visit East Coast Nature World and get up close and personal to the Tasmanian Devil. We then stop at Campbell Town to view the convict trail and the convict built red bridge before heading to Ross for lunch. Later we travel through historical Richmond before crossing the Derwent River into Hobart. 4 Night Stay: Wrest Point Casino or The Old Woolstore, Hobart

DAY 5 – PORT ARTHUR (B,L,D)

We visit Port Arthur penal settlement and learn how hundreds of convicts lived, worked and died under threats of the lash. Take a short cruise across Carnarvon Harbour and around the Isle of the Dead. Later we head to Eagle Hawk Neck visiting some of the many formations of the south east coast, namely Tasman’s Arch, Devils Kitchen and the Tesselated Pavement. Tonight we dine out, enjoying the vibrant maritime atmosphere and freshest Tasmanian seafood at the iconic Drunken Admiral. GGP

DAY 6 – FREE DAY (B,D)

The day is free to discover Hobart at your leisure, perhaps visit the largest privately owned museum in Australia, Mona, with its eccentric, modern and contemporary collection of art; or take in a Derwent River Cruise or visit the Botanic Gardens. GGP

DAY 7 – BRUNY ISLAND (B,L,D)

Discover everything that makes Bruny Island amazing with our sightseeing and food tour. Taste local fresh produce, spot wildlife in their habitat, walk the beaches, climb The Neck Lookout and tour the iconic Cape Bruny lighthouse, perched above the craggy Tasmanian coastlines. GGP

DAY 8 – NEW NORFOLK, RUSSELL FALLS, STRAHAN (B,L,D)

This morning we depart Hobart and follow the Derwent Valley to historic New Norfolk then on to Mount Field National Park where we take a short walk through the giant trees to Russell Falls. Next we take a step into history at ‘The Wall in the Wilderness’. After lunch we make our way further west stopping to view the Iron Blow open cut copper mine then travel via Queenstown to finish in Strahan. 2 Night Stay: Strahan Village Motel, Strahan

DAY 9 – GORDON RIVER CRUISE (B,L,D)

This morning we relax in reserved premium seating as we cruise the mighty Gordon River. We step ashore at Heritage Landing and see the 2000 year old Huon Pine before sailing on through Hells Gates. Enjoy a smorgasbord lunch on-board before cruising back to Strahan where we view a demonstration at Morrison’s Huon Pine and see how this valuable timber was milled in days gone by.

DAY 10 – CRADLE MOUNTAIN, SMITHTON (B,L,D)

Travelling to Cradle Mountain National Park we join a guided tour of pioneer Gustav Weindorfer’s Chalet and Dove Lake. We lunch at Cradle Mountain Hotel, visit the Wilderness and Landscape Photograph Gallery and then head north travelling through the towns of Wynyard and Burnie to Smithton. 2 Night Stay: Tall Timbers Motel, Smithton

DAY 11 – CAPE GRIM, STANLEY (B,MT,L,D)

Today we travel to the far north west to the Van Diemans Land Company’s historic property ‘Woolnorth’. With a local guide we visit the wind farm at Cape Grim with its 62 giant wind turbines, learning the history of the property and the wind farm. After a hearty BBQ lunch, we travel to the historic village of Stanley (established as the head quarters of the Van Diemans Land Company), for a chairlift ride to the top of The Nut which is the core of an ancient volcano.

DAY 12 – BURNIE, DEVONPORT (B,L,D)

We start our day with a tour of elegant Highfield House, a beautiful example of regency architecture and monument to those who found themselves on this lonely headland in early 19th century. Next we head east via Table Cape to Makers of Burnie showcasing a dynamic community of artists and makers at work. We continue on to Hellyers Distillery to sample a drop or two and enjoy lunch, before travelling on through Sheffield, the town of murals, and Railton, the topiary town. 1 Night Stay: Gateway Inn, Devonport

DAY 13 – FLIGHTS HOME (B)

Our last day takes us through Deloraine to the Georgian village of Evandale home to the National Penny Farthing Championships and an array of unspoilt heritage buildings. We then arrive at the airport for our respective flights home.
