DAY 1 – DEPART TO DARWIN, MINDIL BEACH MARKETS

On arrival into Darwin please make your way to Okas Elan Darwin where your tour host will meet you. We are lucky enough to be in Darwin on a Thursday night, so we are going to take the chance to explore the famous Mindil Beach Sunset Market. Departing our hotel at 5pm we make our way to Mindil Beach and you are sure to be tempted by the delicious food as we wander through the stalls and enjoy the spectacular Darwin Sunset. Overnight Darwin Oaks Elan. (Flights own arrangements. Please arrange your own flights to arrive prior to 3pm)

DAY 2 – EXPLORE DARWIN, SUNSET DINNER CRUISE

Today we see the new Parliament House built on the site of the Darwin Post Office bombed during the war, the port area plus the many other fascinating sights of Australia’s northern gateway. We then take a drive to East Point where we visit the Military Museum. Then departing for our Sunset Dinner Cruise where the incredible Darwin Harbour sunset will provide a fantastic photo opportunity. Overnight Oaks Elan, Darwin. (B,D)

DAY 3 – DARWIN TO KATHERINE

Today we visit the award winning Territory Wildlife Park at Berry Springs. We then continue south to Adelaide River where we have a slight detour to visit the Adelaide River War Cemetery, the site of the only Australian war cemetery on Australian soil. There are 432 servicemen and 63 civilians, all of whom died as a result of Japanese bombing. Then we continue south to Katherine. Of course, a visit to Katherine would not be complete without a cruise through Katherine Gorge. Sit back and relax as the tranquil surroundings transport us into a spiritual world of Jawoyn culture and history. Back on dry land, we enjoy dinner on the deck overlooking the river. Overnight Knotts Crossing Resort, Katherine (B,L,D)

DAY 4 – KUNUNURRA, LAKE ARGYLE

From Katherine we travel to Victoria River Crossing and Timber Creek at the northern edge of the Gregory National Park. We then cross the border into Western Australia and turn south to Lake Argyle for lunch. One of the many highlights of our tour to the Kimberley Ranges will be our cruise this afternoon from below the massive wall of Lake Argyle. Overnight The Kimberley Grande, Kununurra (B,L,D)

DAY 5 – BUNGLE BUNGLES, HIDDEN VALLEY

This morning we have time for optional flights over Purnululu National Park ex Kununurra. (early morning is the best time to fly over the Bungle Bungles). For those of us not wanting to fly, this is the perfect opportunity for a sleep-in! After a slightly later breakfast, we take a tour of Kununurra. Later this afternoon, we visit the Mirima National Park, also called Hidden Valley. The sandstone formations here resemble the domes of the famous Bungle Bungles (Purnululu National Park), which is why they are sometimes called Mini Bungle Bungles. Overnight The Kimberley Grande, Kununurra (B,D)

DAY 6 – ZEBRA MINE & WETLANDS CRUISE

Touring Kununurra this morning before we begin making our way to the Zebra Mine on the Northern Territory border. We’ll enjoy some touring along the way including some unique off-road sights with our local coach captain. Lunch will be freshly caught Silver Cobbler and they say the lunch hits a 10 on the “fish ‘n chip-odometer”! We take a tour of the mine then enjoy afternoon tea, followed by a Wetlands Cruise. How does some champagne and nibbles sound as we watch the sun set over Lake Argyle? And this is the only place where you can do this! What a fantastic last day in Kununurra. Overnight The Kimberley Grande, Kununurra (B,L,D)

DAY 7 – FITZROY RIVER & CROSSING GEIKIE GORGE

This morning, we continue west through the magnificent red mountain scenery of the Kimberley to Fitzroy Crossing. We enjoy lunch at the Lodge, and later this afternoon we travel out to nearby Geikie Gorge where we take a cruise through this spectacular landscape. The Fitzroy River has carved its path through the fossil “Barrier Reef” resulting in breathtaking scenery. Overnight Fitzroy River Lodge, Fitzroy Crossing (B,L,D)

DAY 8 – BOAB PRISON TREE, DERBY, BROOME

Our destination today is Broome, but on the way, we have a little detour to see the famous Boab Prison Tree which was used in the early days as an overnight lock up for prisoners before the final trek into Derby. We too make the trek into Derby and then back on the highway stopping in at the Willare Bridge Roadhouse before the last leg of our journey into Broome. The Oaks Resort, Broome (B,D)
