Day 1 – wednesDay – Tilt Train to Maryborough and Fraser Island
Depart from Roma Street Station, Brisbane on the Tilt Train at 11am, bound for the Fraser Coast. Upon your arrival at Maryborough West Railway Station, we are transferred to Urangan Marina at Hervey Bay to board our private charter boat to Fraser Island. Enjoy 2 nights surrounded by untamed wilderness and a rugged natural charm. Nestled into the island’s landscape, the Queenslander-style, resort hotel rooms sit lightly on the land allowing island wildlife to go about their daily business uninterrupted. (L,D)
Day 2 – thursDay – Fraser Island
Wake up to an orchestra of frogs and birdsong, and water views that will make you wish you had just a few more days to stay. Take in the beauty of precious eco-systems and unique wildlife with an experienced guide on our Fraser Island 4WD coach tour. Explore Central Station, and walk along the banks of Wanggoolba Creek. Day 3 – friDay – Gladstone
Enjoy a leisurely morning where we have breakfast in our own time. We depart Fraser Island at 10.30am and make our way to the Carriers Arms Hotel for lunch. We are then joined by local ambassador ‘Mary Heritage’, and take a guided tour discovering the city of Maryborough’s colourful past, rich heritage buildings and sites. At 2.35pm we board the Tilt Train for another daylight journey to Gladstone, the Harbour City, where stay overnight at the lovely Rydges Hotel. (B,L,D)
Day 4 – SATURDay – Heron Island
This morning we board the Reef Voyager to beautiful Heron Island. Seek refuge on a coral cay that is part of the Great Barrier Reef and home to an array of marine and bird life. From Green and Loggerhead Turtles to Noddy Terns, Humpback Whales, and 72% of all coral species, nature is at your fingertips here. Enjoy 2 nights and fine dining at Heron Island Resort. (B,L,D)
Day 5 – SUNDay – Heron Island
Join naturalist guides for daily activities discovering the birdlife, coral cay formations, native flora and fauna, and at low tide we take the Reef Walk that will expose some of the most fascinating creatures found on the coral reef. (B,L,D)
Day 6 – MONDay – Capricorn Coast
Enjoy naturalist morning activities followed by lunch before boarding the Reef Voyager for your return to the mainland. Upon arrival at approximately 3.30pm we board our coach and travel to the Capricorn Coast for a three night stay at the Mercure Capricorn Resort. (B,MT,L,D)
Day 7 – TUESDay – Great Keppel Island & Island Cruise
Today we cruise through the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, the largest heritage-listed area in the world. Our ¾ day cruise begins with morning tea served on arrival at Great Keppel Island, before we transfer to one of the glass bottom boats for a Coral Viewing and Fish Feeding Cruise along with an informed commentary from the expert crew. Enjoy some free time on the island before reboarding to enjoy lunch whilst cruising around the islands. (B,MT,L,D)
Day 8 – WEDNESDay – Mercure Capricorn Resort
This morning view the resort’s 22,000 acres of wilderness with one of our experienced wildlife guides. See sweeping views from the hilltop lookout and glimpse some of the 150 species of birds that call the Resort home. We are then treated to a fabulous and funny lunch and show at Footlights Theatre Restaurant. (B,L,D)
Day 9 – THURSDay – Mackay, Airlie Beach, Hamilton Island
Departing the Capricorn Coast we make our way via Mackay and the cane fields to Airlie Beach to meet Fantasea Cruises for transfers to Hamilton Island for a 2 night stay at the Reef View Hotel in Coral Sea View Rooms. The Hotel offers fine dining and spacious, well-appointed rooms with furnished private balconies, and en-suited bathrooms with separate bath and shower. (B,MT,L,D)
Day 10 – FRIDay – Hamilton Island
Make the most of this beautiful island. Today you are free to explore on your own, as you have free unlimited access on the island shuttle buses and all non-motorised water sports. We have arranged a $50pp credit on your room account for you to use at restaurant of your choice for lunch (this is not redeemable for cash, is non-refundable and no change given). (B,L,D)
Day 11 – SATURDay – Flight Home
Breakfast is provided before you are transferred to Hamilton Island Airport for your respective flights home. (B)
