The soft, green rolling hills slowly give way to the flatter, drier and harsher, but every bit as beautiful, desert plains. Spend the afternoon relaxing in the lounge watching the passing scenery or enjoy the comforts of your cabin with a good book. A pre-dinner drink and socialising with fellow guests anticipates your late-night arrival into the landmark township of Kalgoorlie, where you can experience an Off Train Excursion. (L,D)

Day 2: Monday – Indian Pacific, Nullarbor Plain

Arrive refreshed and eager for a superb sunrise on the Nullarbor. Back on the train, enjoy regionally inspired modern Australian cuisine and fine wines for lunch, before alighting the train and experiencing the extraordinary and ever so slightly eerie ghost town of Cook. Watch the passing parade of ever-changing landscape over dinner and share stories with old friends and new in the lounge. (B,L,D)
