DAY 1. Wednesday – ARRIVE SYDNEY, LEURA (D)
Flights will be arranged to arrive mid afternoon in Sydney. You will join our ‘Gold Class’ coach and journey out to the Blue Mountains, checking-in to our accommodation for a 3 night stay. There will be time this afternoon to discover the resort facilities, you may like to take the plunge in either the indoor or outdoor swimming pool, play a game of tennis or take a scenic walk on the tracks through the bushland. This evening enjoy a welcome drink with the group before dinner. 3 Night Stay: Fairmont Resort, Leura
Day 2. Thursday – LEURA (B,L,D)
Today our adventure really begins! We coach to our starting destination within the World Heritage Listed bushland for a ¾ day guided trek on the hidden rainforest trail. The day begins along the cliff-top among caves and overhangs, then descends to majestic Wentworth Falls, undoubtedly the largest waterfall in the mountains. We continue along the iconic National Pass, a stunning track cut into sandstone cliffs overlooking the Jamison Valley. Transverse some of the areas most rugged terrain as we pass by waterfalls (you may like a swim), be immersed in dense temperate rainforest and weave our way through a range of ecosystems. Our qualified guide will provide an insight into the local flora and fauna. After our trek, we return to the resort to enjoy the facilities or take the opportunity to rest before dinner.
day 3. Friday – LEURA (B,L,D)
This morning we return to the heart of the Blue Mountains for some heart pumping action, taking an abseiling course. Rest assured safety is paramount, as our highly trained guides step us through the safety guidelines before we attempt a small, training 3m abseil. As your confidence builds, we move from 3m, to a sloping rock beginner 6m drop and then onto an overhang 15m drop. For those who wish to push the envelope further, you may choose to complete a 20-30m abseil off the cliff face overlooking the valley. During our abseil adventure, enjoy lunch surrounded by the tranquillity and peace of the bush.
Day 4. Saturday – PENRITH TO BOWRAL (B,L,D)
This morning, we begin our southern journey and set our course for Penrith, arriving at the Penrith White Water Stadium. This stadium is the only man made river of its kind in the southern hemisphere. We will experience a 90 minute, beginners level white water rafting session, led by a qualified guide. Each raft takes a group of 8 with the river guide down the exhilarating course, negotiating the bumps, curves and turns as 14,000 litres of water per second flow over the moveable obstacle system. We enjoy lunch at the venue before departing for Bowral where we bed down for the night. 1 night Stay: Gibraltar Hotel, Bowral
Day 5. Sunday – Bowral to Jindabyne (B,MT,L,D)
We slow things down a little today with a travel day. We journey to Canberra, taking a short driving tour of the major landmarks, before stopping for a leg stretch and cuppa. Continuing on we arrive in Cooma for lunch. After lunch we visit the Snowy Hydro Discovery Centre to learn about this incredible engineering feat. This afternoon, we arrive in Jindabyne, located at the foot of the Kosciuszko National Park and check into our accommodation. 2 Night Stay: Rydges Horizons Snowy Mountains
Day 6. Monday – Jindabyne to Thredbo (B,L,D)
This morning we drive to Thredbo village where we will make the pilgrimage that every Australian and visitor should make in this great land, to the summit of Mount Koscuiszko. We take the Kosciuszko Express Chairlift to the Express Terminal where our guided hike to the summit begins. This 13km round trip takes us across mesh walkways to the Kosciuszko Lookout at an altitude of 2000m and onto Rawson Pass, stopping at various locations to catch our breath, take a short break and to view the flora. From here the mesh path ends as it meets the Old Summit Road, the summit being only a further 1.5km, the path becomes a little steeper and circles the summit. Upon reaching the summit, 2228 metres above sea level, enjoy the panoramic views, pat yourself on the back and take some amazing pictures. Enjoy your packed lunch and a rest at the summit. We descend from the summit, returning to the Express Terminal for a well-earned rest before relaxing on the chairlift that returns us to Thredbo village. Next, we take a thrilling luge ride, guaranteed to bring a smile to your face. The afternoon sees us return to the hotel in Jindabyne. ** Please note: To undertake this walk today, you will need to carry with you a waterproof/windproof jacket, jumper, gloves, warm hat/beanie, at 1-2 litres of water (suggest a camel pack), own morning tea and lunch (supplied by us), sunscreen and have sturdy walking shoes. The walk takes approximately 4-5 hours, is rated as a moderate level and is subject to weather conditions. There will be short rest stops along the way.
Day 7. Tuesday – Jindabyne to Lakes Entrance (B,MT,L,D)
We farewell the Alpine region today breaking at Cann River for lunch before arriving in Lakes Entrance. This afternoon we discover the local beach by taking a camel ride. Enjoy a 45 minute unforgettable journey along Ninety Mile Beach. **Please note: A weight restriction of 90kgs to ride. 1 Night Stay: Bellevue on the Lakes
Day 8. Wednesday – Lakes Entrance to Melbourne (B,L,D)
A sleep in this morning with a later departure as we travel through the central Gippsland district and the towns of Bairnsdale, Sale and Traralgon, breaking here for lunch. After lunch, we continue on arriving mid-afternoon in Melbourne, checking-in at our accommodation. 2 Night Stay: Crowne Plaza Melbourne
Day 9. Thursday – Melbourne (B,L,D)
Today we kick the adventure back into overdrive as we arrive at Rochford Wines. After a safety briefing and training, we join the Segway team and experience the delights of gliding among the grapevines on two wheels on our Segway adventure. Once you’ve mastered the Segway training, it’s time to test your off-road skills on the purpose designed all terrain circuit. Our group will Segway in two smaller groups, during your wait, take a short drive to visit the Coldstream Dairy for a cheese tasting and tour. Lunch is then served at Rochford Wines, with a glass of wine, allowing time to relax and reminisce. This evening enjoy a finalé dinner in true Melbourne style aboard the elegant Colonial Tramcar Restaurant. Be wined and dined as we take in views of the streets of the city and suburbs.
DAY 10 Friday (B)
Check out today is 10am, concierge will store your luggage so you can take in some last-minute shopping before we transfer to the airport (approx 12pm) for our respective flights home.
