Lawn Hill Tours

Day 1. Sun: The Inlander rail journey

Board The Inlander for an historic journey from tropical Townsville to the mining centre of Mount Isa. Overnight: Onboard The Inlander

Day 2. Mon: Mount Isa

Arrive via the Inlander Train at Mt Isa. Explore the multi award-winning Outback at Isa where our first adventure is the remarkable “Hard Times underground Mine Tour. Explore the history of mining as the guides share with you their stories of the good times and the hard times that are had working deep under the earth. Time to freshen up before happy hour and dinner. Soak up the incredible enormity of the Isa’s rugged landscape as the sun goes down at the panoramic sunset lookout. Overnight: Mt Isa (LD)

Day 3. Tue: Lawn Hill

Depart Mt. Isa and travel along the Barkly Highway enjoying a bush picnic lunch by the refreshing crystal clear waters of the Gregory River. After lunch travel on to the World Heritage Listed Riversleigh Fossil Fields, where the bones of fossilised animals, which occupied the area 20 million years ago, have been found. Then on to Adel’s Grove, featuring a stand of exotic trees established in the 1930’s, which are known as the Frenchman’s Gardens. After check in, enjoy time to freshen up or take a stroll along Lawn Hill Creek before dinner. Overnight: Adel’s Grove (BLD)

Day 4. Wed: Lawn Hill

Today after a restful night we set out to enjoy the richness of Lawn Hill ‘Boodjamulla’ National Park, carved out by the prehistoric forces of Lawn Hill Creek, to admire spectacular views that the gorge system provides. Mid morning get up close and personal as you paddle your canoe through this picturesque gorge. An optional swim at Indarri Falls refreshes you for the return paddle, back to Adel’s Grove. Enjoy a picnic lunch amongst the towering red pillars steeped in aboriginal legend of ‘Boodjamulla’. Relax back at Adel’s Grove prior to our Happy hour sunset at Bill’s Lookout. Enjoy dinner and yarn sharing with your fellow travellers at the lodge. Overnight: Adel’s Grove. (BLD)

Day 5. Thu: Mt Isa

Departing Adel’s Grove we travel East via Gregory Downs and the Burke & Wills Junction to Cloncurry, where we view John Flynn Place before returning to Mt. Isa. Overnight: Mt Isa. (BLD)

Day 6. Fri: End of Tour

This morning enjoy an Mt Isa surface mine tour learning about the mining processes through to the end product. Please note covered shoes need to be worn on this tour. After an informative morning, enjoy our farewell lunch prior to boarding the Inlander Rail journey back to Townsville or your flight back to Townsville or Brisbane. (BL)

Please read the following booking conditions contained in this brochure carefully. Bookings are only accepted on the basis of the following conditions. While we have made every effort to provide accurate information, details of products, prices and events described in this brochure may have changed since the brochure was published. Please check with your travel agent before booking your holiday travel.

Responsibility of Traveltrain Holidays and Limitation of Liability

In arranging your booking, Traveltrain Holidays is solely acting as the agent of the third party suppliers of goods/services (“the Operator”) and those Operators are wholly responsible for their goods/services (“Product/s”) and the standard of their Product/s. Please note all bookings made for Operators’ Products are subject to the terms and conditions and limitations of liability imposed by those Operators. Any legal recourse you may have is against the Operator, not Traveltrain Holidays.

In producing this brochure Traveltrain Holidays has used information supplied by Operators. Irrespective of any measures taken by Traveltrain Holidays to ensure accuracy of the information in this brochure at the time of printing, details of particular Operators and their products may have changed since the brochure was published. Further, Operators may impose conditions that vary from the conditions stated in this brochure.

Traveltrain Holidays arranges bookings on the basis that, to the fullest extent permitted by law, it is not liable for any loss or damage suffered in connection with:
(a) anything contained in this brochure which is misleading, false, incomplete, misdescribed or inaccurate; and/or
(b) any failure of an Operator or other third party to provide the described Product or any associated service or facility, and/or
(c) any act or omission of an Operator or any other matter connected to the supply of an Operator’s Product.

Whether as a matter of contract, tort, statute, restitution or otherwise, “loss or damage” includes any associated direct, indirect or consequential loss, liability, claim, cost, expense, proceeding, demand, penalty, death, injury, illness, shock, inconvenience or delay.

This limitation of liability applies irrespective of the cause, including negligence of Traveltrain Holidays or an Operator, withdrawal, cancellation, or failure to provide a Product or any part, delay, event of force majeure, any variation in the Product, the provision of substitute Products or a change in the Operator.
In circumstances where liability cannot be lawfully excluded, such liability is limited to the value of the purchased holiday arrangements.

How to book

Contact Traveltrain Holidays, visit a QR Travel Centre or see your local licensed / AFTA travel agent who will make the reservation request. We recommend booking as early as possible, particularly in peak holiday periods.

Prices and conditions

Any verbal quote given is only an estimate of the price, which will be subject to change until written confirmation of your reservation by Traveltrain Holidays and receipt by Traveltrain Holidays of the full payment of the price of your holiday. In arranging your booking Traveltrain Holidays is acting as the agent of the Operator of the relevant product and/or services and at no time do you have a contract with Traveltrain Holidays. Bookings are subject to the terms and conditions and limitations of liability imposed by Operators, please check with your travel agent for details.

Prices are effective from 1 April 2009 until 31 March 2010, but are subject to change without notice. Prices listed are in Australian Dollars (AU$) and are inclusive of GST. Prices are current at the time of printing this brochure and are subject to change without notice. Prices advertised are based on per person twin share unless otherwise stated. Prices are provided as a guide only and may vary due to peak demand periods, changes in surcharges, fees, taxes or currency fluctuations. All prices, conditions and information regarding your travel should be checked prior to making a booking.

Unless otherwise specified prices do not include transport from your home port to holiday destination and return. If you are unable to connect to your holiday on the same day, any overnight expenses will be at your own expense. Items of a personal nature such as laundry, taxis, telephone calls, excess baggage charges, personal and baggage insurance, transfers, airport taxes, postage and faxes, drinks, room service and meals (unless specified) are not included in the price of your holiday. Any applicable government or local authority charges and taxes that may apply are your responsibility.

Concession Prices

The following concession cards are acceptable but must be valid at the time of travel and to be carried at all times during travel:
a) Australian Pension Concession Card or Government Senior Card.
b) Queensland Pension Concession Card or Queensland Government Senior Card

Queensland residents who hold a valid Queensland Pension Concession Card are entitled to 4 economy class single journeys within Queensland each calendar year. These journeys may be combined to provide 2 economy return journeys or 1 first or business class return journey. This entitlement can be combined with all holiday packages available in this brochure. Please check with your travel agent for details.

Child Prices
Prices for children for accommodation and touring can be
obtained from your travel agent. Some Operators do impose restrictions on child ages for travel; please check with your travel agent for details.

Deposits and final payments

Failure to meet the following payment conditions may result in automatic cancellation of your booking. Once full payment has been received by Traveltrain Holidays your documents will be issued and sent to you.

Deposit

Traveltrain Holidays requires a minimum non refundable deposit of $165 per booking within 7 days of booking confirmation. For group bookings containing 10 or more passengers a minimum deposit of $110 per person is required within 7 days of booking confirmation. Some Operators may impose deposits in addition to the minimum deposits stated in this brochure.

Final payment

Full payment of your holiday cost must be made no later than 45 days prior to travel or by the payment deadline specified in individual package conditions, whichever is earliest.
For bookings made less than 45 days prior to travel but more than 7 days prior to travel, full payment of your holiday cost must be made within 48 hours of confirmation of your booking. For bookings made less than 7 days prior to travel, full payment of your holiday cost is required at the time your booking is confirmed.

Late booking fee

Any booking paid within 7 days prior to travel may incur a $10 fee for urgent forwarding of your documentation to you.

Amendment fees

Any amendment to your booking is subject to the approval of the relevant Operator. Any approved change to your booking prior to, at or after making final payment will incur an amendment fee of $65 per booking in addition to any fees imposed by the Operator. An amendment is a change to an existing booking with the same inclusions. A transfer to another package may be treated as a cancellation, in which case the cancellation fees set out below will apply.

Cancellations and refunds

If you cancel or terminate your holiday booking, the following cancellation fees will apply:

Prior to Final Payment: no refund of deposit paid.
After Final Payment: no refund of deposit paid, plus all additional fees imposed by Operators for cancelled accommodation, touring, air and rail travel (which may be up to 100% of monies paid).

Traveltrain Holidays reserves the right to change or cancel your booking in accordance with operating requirements or due to circumstances beyond its control. Traveltrain Holidays is not responsible for costs of any other travel arrangements affected by changes to or cancellation of your booking.
Without limitation Traveltrain Holidays will not be responsible if the Product is not available due to force majeure, including but not limited to, civil unrest, health risk, closure of airports/ ports etc, industrial disputes, terrorist activity, adverse weather conditions or other acts of God.
Travel insurance Traveltrain Holidays strongly recommends travel insurance at the time of booking. Ask Traveltrain Holidays or your travel agent for details when making your booking.

Luggage

All luggage is carried at your own risk. Traveltrain Holidays accepts no liability for loss, damage or delay to luggage. Some Operators may impose luggage limits and restrictions, please ask your travel agent for details.

Bonds

Cash bonds or credit card imprints may be required by accommodation Operators providing a telephone, mini bar and/or other facilities in the room. Other bonds may apply at certain times of the year. Check with your travel agent prior to booking.

Accommodation

All rooms are subject to availability. Accommodation prices are subject to change without notice. Hotel rooms are assigned at the discretion of each hotel property. All rooms are not the same. Traveltrain Holidays has no control over room assignments. Alternative hotels of a similar standard to those outlined in packages within this brochure may be used without notice.

Touring

The travel services provided by touring Operators are subject to the conditions imposed by them and their liability may be limited by their tariffs, conditions of carriage and agreements. Seasonal conditions occasionally necessitate adjustments to touring. Additionally, some Operators reserve the right to cancel departures in certain circumstances. Traveltrain Holidays will not be held liable for a service variation, delay, cancellation or withdrawal, or a Operator’s failure to notify you. Please also note specific departure dates apply for certain tours. You should ask your travel agent at the time of booking to outline the Operator’s individual booking conditions.

Minimum Numbers on Tours

Some tours require a minimum number of passengers to operate. If minimum numbers are not achieved, tours may be cancelled at short notice.

Transfers

Some accommodation and tour Operators provide courtesy transfers from rail stations, airports or from your hotel. It is essential these transfers are pre-booked and reconfirmed with the operator at least 48 hours prior to pickup.

Itinerary alterations

Traveltrain Holidays reserves the right to amend, change or delete portions of the tour itinerary without notice or liability to you. Traveltrain Holidays also reserves the right to change the mode of transport utilised on the tour.

Maps and photographs

Maps and photographs are for general information only and may not reflect actual locations or services. Photographs may not be specific to the actual accommodation used, tour undertaken or vehicle hired.

Disability access

Holidays listed in this brochure may have limited or full disability access, please ask Traveltrain Holidays or your travel agent for details when making your booking. Traveltrain Holidays accepts no liability for failure of any Operators to provide wheelchair access and hearing assistance facilities.
