Day 1. Tuesday 23 Dec - Afternoon with `Mary’- Christmas lights by night

Coach departs Roma St busway at 8.30am bound for the Fraser Coast.  Comfort stop at Wild Horse Mountain, before we continue to Maryborough where we enjoy lunch at the Carriers Arms Hotel.  This afternoon we meet the colourful character of `Mary Heritage,’  to enjoy afternoon tea with `Mary’ in a 'grand old lady of architecture' located in historic Wharf Street and overlooking the Mary River Parklands and Portside. Enjoy a brief river walk with Mary before being transferred to our Motel. (L,D)

Day 2. Wednesday 24 Dec - Mary Valley Rattler – Historic Hideaway Hotel

This morning we arrive at the beautifully restored, heritage Gympie Railway Station, built in 1913.  Here we board  " C17" steam locomotive, No 802, that was built in England in 1927.  Our trip winds it way through the southern end of Gympie and continues into the scenic Mary Valley, crossing and then wandering away from The Mary River.  The countryside is very picturesque undulating hills with an abundance of curves, tunnels, gradients & bridges. The hills and slopes show a patchwork of macadamias, pineapples & other crops as well as numerous dairy & beef herds grazing. The train then arrives at historic Kandanga Station for a 30 minute stop, giving you the opportunity to savoir fresh local produce, local preserves, cakes, slices etc.  The train then continues to Imbil where it terminates and we continue on the Hideaway Historic Hotel for BBQ lunch.  Return to Maryborough via the scenic rural route.  Tonight we marvel at the fabulous display of Maryborough’s Christmas lights by Night! Day 3. Thursday 25th Dec - Merry Christmas - Celebrations at Kingfisher Resort Fraser Island   

Merry Christmas!  Start this morning with a light breakfast before we depart for Hervey Bay Marina.  Board the fast cat to Kingfisher Resort on Fraser Island to enjoy our Christmas Day festive feast of traditional and seafood cuisine.  Some time after lunch to explore the resort.  Tonight a light dinner will be supplied and we will all gather and meet around the pool to enjoy the rest of Christmas Day celebrations. Day 4. Friday 26 Dec - Mary Heritage Tour – Hervey Bay Scenic Safari   

After breakfast this morning we join `Mary Heritage’ dressed in fabulous period costume for a Maryborough historic city sights tour. We finish our afternoon with a coastal scenic safari stopping for lunch on the esplanade at Hervey Bay before exploring the beaches and marina. (B,L,D)

Day 5. Saturday 27 Dec - Mary River Cruise - Brennan & Geraghty Store Museum

Hot Breakfast is served in the dining room before we depart for Maryborough Riverboat Company to enjoy a morning on `Proud Mary’, cruising with a commentary on the Maritime history of the Mary River; Historical Floods and Stately Heritage Homes.   Next we visit the fascinating Brennan & Geraghty store museum, a fascinating journey back in time, a real time capsule!  The store closed in 1971 and still holds the original stock on the shelves including curry powder, soap dating back to 1920’s and toilet paper from the 50’s.  Sadly our Christmas celebration tour has come to and end as we head for our journey back to Brisbane.  (B,MT)
