Day 1. Homeport - Auckland

Fly from your homeport to Auckland where you will be met by a Grand Pacific Tours representative and transferred to your hotel. Hotel: Rendezvous Hotel or Copthorne Hotel Harbourcity (D)

Day 2. Auckland - Bay of Islands

Depart Auckland and travel to the Parry Kauri Park to see a magnificent example of a Kauri Tree. Enjoy a visit and informative talk at the Kauri Museum in Matakohe, then pass through Whangarei to Paihia. Enjoy a guided tour of the Waitangi Treaty Grounds, the location of the signing of the treaty between the Maori tribes and the British. Hotel: Scenic Circle Bay of Islands Hotel (2 nights) (B,D)
 

Day 3. Bay of Islands

This morning travel aboard a luxury catamaran to Cape Brett and the famous Hole in the Rock. Experience an informative commentary and a stopover at Otehei Bay before arriving at historic Russell. Free time is available to explore at leisure before returning by ferry to Paihia. (B,D)

Day 4. Bay of Islands - Auckland

Bid farewell to the Bay of Islands and drive south via Whangarei, Wellsford and Warkworth to Auckland. Enjoy a short city tour and free time before transferring to your hotel. (B,D)

Day 5. Auckland - Rotorua

Depart Auckland and travel to Glenbrook Vintage Railway for a nostalgic 12 kilometre trip back in time on a beautifully restored vintage steam train. Visit the restoration workshop and on return to Glenbrook Staton, morning tea will be served. Depart Glenbrook and travel through magnificent countryside to Longlands Dairy Farm. Enjoy a farm tour followed by a delicious home cooked lunch. This afternoon travel the scenic coast road via Tauranga to the geothermal town of Rotorua. Day 6. Rotorua

Today begins with a Gondola ride to Skyrides Restaurant where a buffet breakfast and spectacular views are on offer. Travel to the Agrodome where you see performing sheep, a shearing display and sheep dog trial. Next visit Paradise Valley Springs, a superb wildlife park where you can feed rainbow trout. Some free time is available before an afternoon transfer to see the boiling mud pools and the awesome Geysers that Rotorua is famous for. This evening you will experience an entertaining Maori Hangi and Concert. (B, SD)

Day 7. Rotorua - Wellington

Depart Rotorua and travel along the Thermal Explorer Highway before arriving at the spectacular Huka Falls. Continue to Lake Taupo where some free time is available to enjoy this scenic lakeside town. This afternoon travel via the Tongariro National Park and see the snow capped peaks of Mt Ruapehu and Mt Tongariro. Visit the Southwards Car Museum, home to the most comprehensive collection of veteran and vintage cars in the southern hemisphere. Afternoon tea will be enjoyed before continuing south along the Kapiti Coast to Wellington, New Zealand’s capital. Hotel: James Cook Grand Chancellor (2 nights) (B,D)

Day 8. Wellington

An extensive city sights tour this morning will highlight Wellington’s tremendous history and culture. This afternoon enjoy free time. You may choose to visit Te Papa, New Zealand’s National Museum or consider other options available. (B,D)

Day 9. Wellington - Christchurch

This morning board the Interislander Ferry, cross Cook Straight and travel through the Marlborough Sounds to Picton. Join the TranzCoastal, a truly spectacular rail journey that links the port of Picton to Christchurch and travels through vineyards, salt mountains and river valleys before following the thin wedge of land between the Pacific Ocean and the Kaikoura Ranges. Continue across the farmlands of the Northern Canterbury Plains to the garden city of Christchurch. Hotel: Copthorne Durham Street or Scenic Circle Cotswold Hotel (2 nights) (B,D)

Day 10. Christchurch

This morning enjoy a city tour of Christchurch. This afternoon is free and we have arranged for you to travel on the Christchurch Tramway which is the best way to visit all the “Must See” sights. (B,D)

Day 11. Christchurch - Dunedin

Depart Christchurch and travel south through Oamaru to Dunedin, a well preserved Victorian city. Enjoy a city sights tour including a visit to Olveston House, a prestigious historic home and tonight a Scottish evening will be presented complete with bagpipes, great food, special Haggis Ceremony and gift. Hotel: Mercure Leisure Lodge (2 nights) (B, SD)
 

Day 12. Dunedin

Travel along the Otago Peninsula to Larnach Castle where you enjoy a guided tour. Next visit Glenfalloch Woodland Gardens, view the superb collection of flowers followed by a delightful morning tea. Return to the city where free time is available before boarding The Taieri Gorge Limited for a journey through spectacular scenery only accessible by rail. Grand examples of Victorian stonework on bridges and tunnels, plus iron latticework viaducts can be seen along with breathtaking views as you travel to Pukerangi. On return to Dunedin’s historic Edwardian Railway Station your coach will transfer you to your hotel. (B,D)

Day 13. Dunedin - Te Anau

Travel to Te Anau, the gateway to Fiordland and visit the Te Anau Glow Worm Caves. Admire the incredible limestone caverns, waterfalls and Christchurch Tram mystery of the Glow Worm Grotto before arriving at your hotel. Hotel: Distinction Luxmore Hotel (Deluxe Rooms. 2 nights) (B,D)

Day 14. Te Anau - Milford Sound - Te Anau

Depart Te Anau for a fascinating drive to Milford Sound where you board your launch for a cruise on this magnificent fiord. See the spectacular Bowen Falls and towering Mitre Peak as you enjoy a picnic lunch. This afternoon return to Te Anau where some free time is available. (B,L,D)

Day 15. Te Anau - Queenstown

A leisurely start to the day before travelling to Fairlight where you board The Kingston Flyer for a rail journey behind a Pacific AB Class Locomotive. On arrival at Kingston a barbecue lunch with sparkling wine will be served. Continue to Arrowtown, an old gold mining village and visit the Lakes District Museum. Continue to Queenstown, a year round resort situated on the shores of magical Lake Wakatipu. This evening board the vintage steamship TSS Earnslaw and cruise across Lake Wakatipu to Walter Peak Station. On arrival sit back and relax, as you are treated to the best of New Zealand’s high country cuisine in the Colonel’s Homestead. After dinner enjoy a short farm tour then reboard the TSS Earnslaw for a sing along by the piano as you cruise back to Queenstown. Hotel: Mercure Resort (Lakeview Rooms. 2 nights) (B,L,SD)

Day 16. Queenstown (Free Day)

Today is a free day. There are plenty of sightseeing options and your Coach Captain and Tour Escort will be happy to assist. This evening is also free and you may choose to dine out at one of the many fine restaurants. (B)

Day 17. Queenstown - Franz Josef

Depart Queenstown and travel via the Haast Pass to the West Coast, an area of stunning beauty. See the snow capped peaks of the Southern Alps as you travel north to Fox Glacier. Time is available (weather permitting) to experience a scenic flight (optional) over the spectacular glaciers before continuing to Franz Josef. Hotel: Scenic Circle Franz Josef Glacier Hotel (B,D)
 

Day 18. Franz Josef - Christchurch

Travel to Hokitika, famous for its greenstone, then continue to Greymouth where you board The TranzAlpine, renowned as one of the great train journeys of the world. Travel through lush beech forest, skirt lakes and follow rivers till you climb through the Otira Tunnel to Arthur’s Pass in the centre of the Southern Alps. Descend through spectacular gorges, river valleys and over massive viaducts before completing your journey at Christchurch. This evening enjoy a special farewell dinner including musical entertainment with your new found friends. Hotel: Copthorne Durham Street or Scenic Circle Cotswold Hotel (B,SD)

Day 19. Christchurch - Homeport

Terms and Conditions

Payment to your Travel Agent acknowledges that you have read, understood and accepted these booking conditions. Grand Pacific Tours is a 100% Australian owned company.

The following are general terms and conditions, please refer to individual brochures for specific terms and conditions.

1. Payment A deposit of $200 per person ($500 Steam Train Journey & $750 Ultimate New Zealand) in your local currency (AUD) is required at the time of booking. If the Tour Package includes flights, a further deposit to cover the airfare and taxes is also required at time of booking. The Airlines require all Trans Tasman flight bookings to have the air ticket issued within five days of confirmation of the Airline reservation. Please note as Grand Pacific Tours offer a fully inclusive package price, the dollar difference between ‘Land Only’ price and ‘Package Price’ (including airfare from the departure city) does not represent the airfare deposit amount due. Please enquire with your Travel Agent as to the exact amount of airfare deposit and taxes required at the time of booking. The balance of payment, including any merchandise, is due 60 days prior to departure.

2. Prices All holiday prices are based on schedules, fares and tariffs current at the time this brochure was printed. Grand Pacific Tours reserves the right to vary the cost of tours if necessary, by reason of currency fluctuation, component cost increase or airfare cost. Tour costing will be guaranteed at the price prevailing at the date of final payment.
Children Children’s fares are available on application. Please note: unfortunately children under five are not suitable on these tours.

3. Taxes Tour prices do not include Australian Government and Airport taxes and levies. A current airline tax guide per adult follows.

Tax amounts are subject to change and will be confirmed at timeof booking.
New Zealand departure tax from Christchurch International Airport is separate to the above and is to paid on departure from New Zealand.

4. Luggage Limits Each traveller is entitled to take one suitcase, the sum of its length, width and depth is not to exceed 140cm and weigh no more than 20 kilograms. Airlines will charge a fee for every kilogram you are over.

5. Single Travellers Smoking is not permitted in Single to Twin share rooms. If someone is not compatible with the person they have been matched up with, any additional costs incurred to assist with changing their room type will be at the traveller’s expense and will be subject to availability. Acceptance of Single to Twin share basis is subject to the individual’s medical condition being suitable for this type of arrangement. (Not available on all tours).

6. Room & Dietary Requests Special room and dietary requests will be accepted and passed on to the hotels but cannot be guaranteed.

7. Smoking Laws Smoking is not permitted in any licensed premises (bars, restaurants, cafes, casinos, etc) throughout New Zealand. Smoking rooms at hotels will be subject to availability and may not be available in some destinations.

8. Seat Rotation For the enjoyment of all travellers Grand Pacific Tours operates a daily seat rotation system which all travellers must participate in as a condition of booking.

9. Travel Insurance Travel Insurance is not included but is strongly recommended for all travellers. Speak to your local Travel Agent to arrange this.

10. Cancellations/Transfer of Booking In the event a traveller cancels off a tour the following fees apply:
- 60 days or more prior to departure, loss of deposit plus the cost of the airline ticket and taxes if issued.
- Between 7 and 59 days prior to departure, 50% of the tour package price.
- Less than 7 days prior to departure, 100% of the tour package price.

If you wish to cancel your existing booking and transfer to a new departure date, the above cancellation fees will still apply.

11. Health and Fitness Payment of deposit by traveller(s) to Grand Pacific Tours acts as a warranty that the traveller(s) is/are reasonably healthy and/or fit to participate in the tour and the traveller(s) indemnifies Grand Pacific Tours from all actions, claims and demands arising out of any want of health and fitness. Grand Pacific Tours reserves the right to remove a traveller from a tour if their health and/or fitness interferes with the tour or other traveller(s) tour experience in any way. Travelling with a wheelchair is subject to availability at the time of booking as each tour only has the capacity to cater for one wheelchair passenger.

12. Responsibilities Grand Pacific Tours advises that the service it provides is for the booking and packaging of goods and services provided by other operators such as hotels and transportation companies. Travellers are advised to familiarise themselves with the terms and conditions on which these services are supplied. Accordingly, Grand Pacific Tours will not be responsible and will be excluded from liability for any loss, damage, omission or acts being negligent or otherwise, committed by the operators of airlines, coach companies, hotels or attractions used in connection with the tours.

13. Airline Indemnity Airlines carry no responsibility for any statement in this brochure relating to the ground content of the tours. These airlines act as air carriers only. Grand Pacific Tours indemnifies the airlines against any claim, action, loss or damage that may arise.

14. Optional Tours Grand Pacific Tours does not operate these excursions. As such, no person employed or associated with Grand Pacific Tours has any connection with the operators of these excursions. Accordingly, Grand Pacific Tours cannot and do not take any responsibility for any injury, action, loss or damage of any type, arising in any manner from these excursions.

15.Variation Grand Pacific Tours reserves the right to cancel or to vary the content of its tours should the need arise.

16. Dispute The law of this contract is the law of the State of Victoria and where applicable the law of the Commonwealth of Australia and New Zealand.

17. Documentation The traveller(s) is/are responsible for the acquisition of passports and appropriate visas, where necessary. We recommend that such documents, as required by governments, are finalised at least six weeks prior to the date of departure.
Please note: Traveller’s documentation including any merchandise will be forwarded to your Travel Agent two weeks prior to departure.

18. Refund Please note that no refund shall be made for any unused portion of any itinerary. Any alteration to the holiday, made by a traveller(s), shall be wholly at the expense of that traveller(s).

19. Travel Compensation Fund Grand Pacific Tours is a participant of the Travel Compensation Fund. The Travel Compensation Fund is Australia’s primary means of providing compensation to eligible travellers who suffer loss as a result of the financial collapse of a participating travel agency business.

Grand Pacific Tours run a Trust Account holding clients monies until tour payments are settled. All tours are prepaid to New Zealand hotels and attractions.

20. Validity The majority of these tours are valid from 1 September 2008 to 31 May 2009. Please check the specific conditions for each.
