![]() Day 1. Arrive BroomeOn arrival in Broome you will be transferred to your hotel. Afternoon at leisure. Enjoy a welcome drink with your Tour Director this evening. Hotel: Cable Beach Club Resort (2 nights) Day 2. Broome ‘Free Time’A full day to explore this tropical hideaway. Enjoy a leisurely stroll along the 22 kilometres of pristine sand and swim in the turquoise blue water that is Cable Beach. Wander through Chinatown or shop for pearls. At the end of the day sit back, relax and watch the spectacular sunset over the Indian Ocean. Or you may like to take a camel ride along Cable Beach. (B) Day 3. Derby – Fitzroy CrossingTravel to the Port of Derby, the oldest established town in the Kimberley, located at the base of King Sound. Visit the famous Prison Boab Tree, believed to be around 1,500 years old and used by the first police as an overnight holding cell. Travel through some of Australia’s biggest pastoral properties to the remote township of Fitzroy Crossing. Hotel: Fitzroy River Lodge, Fitzroy Crossing. (BD) Day 4. Geikie GorgeThis morning cruise through Geikie Gorge, formed by the waters of the Fitzroy River tunnelling through the Napier Range. Watch for wildlife as the 30 metre high walls of the gorge tower above us. Travel to Halls Creek, situated on the edge of the Great Sandy Desert. Day 5. Lirrgarn Argyle Diamond MineToday visit the Lirrgarn Argyle Diamond Mine, the world’s largest diamond mine, which produces one quarter of the world’s diamonds annually. A local guide will join us for a behind the scenes look at the diamond mining process. This afternoon travel to El Questro Wilderness Park. Hotel: Emma Gorge Resort, tented cabins with private facilities, El Questro, 2 nights. (BL)D Day 6. El QuestroCruise on Chamberlain Gorge, a fresh waterhole fringed by tropical vegetation and 60-metre tall escarpments. At Emma Gorge Resort there is time to sit by the pool or to hike into Emma Gorge for a refreshing swim in the waterhole. (BD) Day 7. Parry Lagoon - WyndhamTravel along the Gibb River Road to Parry Lagoon Nature Reserve. See the birdlife of this region and learn about traditional lifestyles. Continue to Wyndham to the 5 Rivers Lookout for sensational views over the Cambridge Gulf. Visit Warriu Park to see the Dreamtime Statues and rock art mural. Visit the historic Durack Homestead, which was faithfully removed brick by brick and reconstructed to become a pioneer museum. This afternoon cruise along the Ord River from Lake Argyle to Kununurra. Day 8. KununurraEnjoy a tour of Kununurra, which is the hub of local industry for tourism and mining in the east Kimberly. See the results of the Ord River Irrigation Scheme and explore Hidden Valley National Park. (BD) Day 9. KatherineCross vast cattle stations en route to Katherine. Hotel: Paraway Motel, Katherine. (BD) Day 10. Katherine GorgeCruise the placid waters of the Katherine River through the towering cliffs of two gorges. This afternoon travel through to Darwin for an orientation tour. Hotel: Holiday Inn Esplanade, Darwin, 2 nights. (BD) Independent Touring Days 11-17. Day 11. Darwin 'Free Time'Enjoy a day at leisure to relax and explore the Top End city of Darwin. Perhaps visit one of the open-air markets held across the city every weekend. Or see fish being hand-fed at Doctor’s Gully. This evening you may like to take a sunset or dinner cruise on the harbour. (B) Day 12. Kakadu National ParkJoin your local AAT Kings Driver/Guide. Travel into Kakadu National Park. View ancient Aboriginal art at Nourlangie Rock. At Cooinda join a wildlife cruise on Yellow Water Billabong. Later, visit the Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre. Hotel: Gagudju Crocodile Holiday Inn, Jabiru. (BL) Day 13. Kakadu – DarwinJoin the Guluyambi cruise along the spectacular East Alligator River. We have special permission of the local people to go ashore in Arnhem Land. Next stop is Ubirr, with a short walk to view rock art. Visit the Bowali Visitor Centre, before returning to the tropical city of Darwin.Hotel: Holiday Inn Esplanade, Darwin, 2 nights. (BL) Day 14. Litchfield National ParkExplore beautiful Litchfield National Park. Visit Florence, Tolmer and Wangi Falls where you will have time for a relaxing swim. Enjoy a picnic lunch and stop to see the Magnetic Termite Mounds, complete with tunnels and nursery chambers. (BL) Day 15. Darwin – The GhanBoard The Legendary Ghan this morning in Darwin. Upon arrival in Katherine you may like to join an optional town tour including the School of the Air, Katherine Museum and historic Springvale Homestead. Return to The Ghan for your journey to Alice Springs.Train: Gold Service, The Ghan, 2 nights. (BD) Day 16. The GhanArrive in Alice Springs this morning and enjoy free time to explore. Perhaps visit the historic Telegraph Station and the Royal Flying Doctor Service. Return to The Ghan this afternoon and continue to Adelaide. (BD) Day 17. Depart AdelaideEnjoy a leisurely breakfast on The Ghan, before arriving at Keswick Station in Adelaide. You will be transferred to Adelaide Airport to connect with your onward flight.
