![]() ![]() Day 1. Thu: DarwinArrive in Broome and check in to the Seashells Resort Broome, your overnight accommodation. Day 2 & 3. Fri & Sat: BroomeJoin Orion in the charismatic town of Broome with its colourful history and cosmopolitan feel. Orion will be based here for the next two days and a regular shuttle service from the wharf will be available throughout your visit here. Spend time uncovering the town’s history or visit the Japanese Shinto Cemetery. (BLD) Day 4. Sun: Cape Leveque and The LacepedesCape Leveque is situated on the tip of the Dampier Peninsula. A remote oasis in the white sands, red earth and thick bush. Enjoy swimming in rock pools or experience a guided Day 5. Mon: Talbot Bay and Horizontal WaterfallsThe Horizontal Waterfalls are a product of the huge tides in the region, and the effect is created by the rapid tidal fall on the oceanside of gaps in the cliffs. Orion’s Zodiacs will take you to witness the phenomenon of the falls. Later in the day join expedition team members on a Zodiac excursion to Cyclone Bay. (BLD) Day 6. Tue: Montgomery Reef and Raft PointArriving at high tide, you’ll see very little of Montgomery Reef. However as the tide drops rapidly away a raging torrent of water erupts as miles of surrounding reef appears to slowly rise out of the ocean. After landing ashore by Zodiac at Raft Point, your expedition leader will guide you on a climb up to a spectacular outdoor Aboriginal art gallery. (BLD) Day 7. Wed: Hunter RiverArguably one of the most scenic parts of the Kimberley coast, Prince Frederick Harbour and the Hunter River are lined with green rainforest, mangroves and soaring red cliffs. Today Orion will drop anchor close to Naturalist Island. (BLD) Day 8. Thu: Bigge IslandBigge Island is a rugged and barren moonscape. The island is famous as a site for some amazing rock art. Join the expedition team as they point out the Wandjina art that is in Day 9. Fri: Vansittart BayVansittart Bay is our destination. After landing ashore, your destination will be an outdoor art gallery of Gwion Gwion Aboriginal art. It is believed they were created at least 17,000 yrs ago with some theories indicating they could be even older. (BLD) Day 10. Sat: King George River and FallsToday Orion will drop anchor in Koolama Bay. The 12km journey up the King George River reveals some of the world’s most spectacular scenery and a wealth of bird species. (BLD) Day 11. Sun: At SeaRelax and enjoy the hospitality extended by Orion’s officers and crew. (BLD) Day 12. Mon: DarwinDarwin is Australia’s closest city to the equator. Bid farewell to your fellow Orion travellers today and check in to SKYCITY Darwin, your base for the next two nights. (BL) Day 13. Tue: DarwinToday is free to explore Darwin. Stop for approximately 4 hours, giving you enough time to look around town or enjoy a Whistle Stop Tour†. (BLD) Day 15. Thu: Alice SpringsArrive in Alice Springs where you’ll have time to look around town or join a Whistle Stop Tour† before reboarding the train and continuing your journey south. (BD) Day 16. Conditions of Carriage Fitness For Travel Train Fares Concession Train Fares Pensioner Fares: are only available to Australian pensioners holding a valid PCC Card. Australian Pensioners holding travel vouchers may be entitled to further reduction. Please enquire. To receive concessional travel fares, Great Southern Rail is required to confirm your eligibility for the concession electronically with Centrelink. If you do not want this to happen you will need to contact Centrelink to obtain a Pension Concession Letter as proof of your eligibility for the concession and provide this directly to Great Southern Rail before the concession can be given. Australian Commonwealth Seniors Health Card Holder: Must hold a valid card. Pensioner and Commonwealth Seniors Health Card Holders may be entitled to Concession Fares that are partly or fully funded by the Commonwealth or State governments. To qualify for Concession Fares, Australian Pensioner or Commonwealth Seniors Health Cards must be presented at the time of booking, must be valid as at the time of travel and must be carried at all times during travel. Not all sectors are included in arrangements for the funding of concessions. Funding for concessions may be withdrawn subsequent to the printing of this document and any fares quoted may therefore change without notice. Child Fares: are available to children aged 4-15 years inclusive or where a child occupies a seat or berth. Infants travel free on Great Southern Rail services unless the infant is to occupy a seat or berth. In this instance, the infant is to be booked as a child, and the Child fare applies.
