![]() Day 1 - TuesdayBoard 'The Spirit of the Outback' and checkin to your 1st Class sleepers for a colourful rail journey through the Central West. Enjoy cosy dining onboard where the themed Tuckerbox Restaurant is an experience in itself. Enjoy a quiet drink and chat with your fellow travellers in the club and lounge cars as we wind our way west venturing through the heritage towns arriving into Blackwater just after breakfast. Day 2 - WednesdayOn arrival in Blackwater meet your hosts from Outback Aussie Tours for a warm central highlands welcome. We travel from the coal mining regions into the Carnarvon Ranges. Check into the 5 star eco Carnarvon Gorge Wilderness Lodge where our afternoon is dedicated to an amazing walk of discovery into Carnarvon Gorge N.P. Overnight: Carnarvon Gorge. (222km) Day 3 - ThursdayThis morning wake up to the incredible sounds of the bush at its best, and enjoy an early walk to view the platypus. We depart for Roma travelling through brigalow cattle country. This evening enjoy the Big Rig Night show, an entertaining education of Roma's part of the Australian Oil and Gas Industry. Overnight: Roma. (260km) Day 4 - FridayThis morning board The Westlander for a journey from the famous Darling Downs into the heart of the Mulga Country. On arrival into Charleville enjoy a brief welcome tour enroute to the Corones Hotel. This evening enjoy an early dinner prior to experiencing the spectacular twilight show at the Cosmos Centre. Overnight: Charleville. (281km) Day 5 - SaturdayTravel north through Tambo to Blackall to tour the Blackall Woolscour. Get off the beaten track and find Clancy's Overflow Hotel and the famous Barcoo River where Banjo Patterson's "The Bush Christening" poem was written. Visit the newly discovered Isisford Duncani prehistoric crocodile and explore Isisford's pioneer and prehistoric past. Moving onto Longreach via Ilfracombe, we check into our Longreach accommodation. Dinner tonight will be a Drover's theme. Sit back and be charmed by our outback entertainers and savour the traditional and exotic flavours of our outback cuisine. Overnight: Longreach. (562km) Day 6 - SundayThis morning visit the Stockman's Hall of Fame before departing Longreach for Winton, to visit the Waltzing Matilda Centre. We continue on to Cloncurry via the famous watering holes of the Blue Heeler and Walkabout Creek Hotels. Enjoy a day of contrasting outback icons before we check in to the Gidgee Inn Motel for two nights. Overnight: Cloncurry. (528km) Day 7 - MondayEnjoy a day trip to Mount Isa to experience the mining heart of North West Queensland with the Isa Gallery and Hard Times Underground Mine Tour. A big highlight today is dining under the Isa for lunch and connecting with The Inlander for its only outback day light section, where we journey the original railway line through the rugged terrain of the Selwyn Range down through Duchess and up to Cloncurry for an overnight stay at the Gidgee Inn. (260km) Day 8 - TuesdayThis morning view the John Flynn Memorial prior to travelling north to the Burke & Will's Roadhouse. We then cross the Flinder's River into Normanton to explore the Railway Station, museum, big croc, Purple Pub, and historical buildings. We then travel to Karumba for the famous sunset seafood dinner whilst overlooking the mouth of the Gulf of Carpentaria. Overnight: Karumba. (463km) Day 9 - WednesdayWe depart for Normanton to rendezvous with the famous Gulflander, here we board the old ŒTin Hare' at Normanton for a journey through the Norman River, Flood Plain and the Gulf Savannah bush land through to the Gold town of Croydon. Moving east to Georgetown and onto Mt Surprise, the landscape changes as we go up in altitude and onto the McBride Volcanic Province for two nights at Bedrock Village. Overnight: Mt Surprise. (455km) Day 10 - ThursdayToday enjoy a half day Undara Lava Tubes tour exploring one of the longest lava flows in the world. Return to Mt Surprise to explore one of the quaintest towns in northern Australia; a great pub, Peter and Pam's gemstone display and a great pastoral and mining heritage. In the light of the late afternoon enjoy happy hour and a chance to reflect on the amazing diversity of what makes this tour so different to any other. Overnight: Bedrock Village. (150km) Day 11 - FridayToday embark on the famous Savannahlander Rail Journey from Mt Surprise to Almaden. We travel on to Kuranda amongst the famous rainforest community prior to boarding the famous Kuranda Scenic Rail Journey into Cairns. Tonight get ready for our fun farewell awards night. Overnight: Country Comfort Cairns. (300km) Day 12 - SaturdayBoard Queensland Class - one of Australia's premier rail services. Take a journey and taste everything Queensland has to offer from chef prepared meals to stunning scenery accompanied by commentary into Queensland's heritage, culture and landscape provided by your personal Matrie'D. Day 13 - SundayEnjoy the country scenery today and join your new found friends in the relaxing lounge car. Exclusive club car with our own private entertainer adds to the ambiance of this train journey. Arrive back into Roma St Station mid afternoon.
