Day 1. Spirit of the Outback

Depart on the Spirit of the Outback for your overnight journey to Longreach.

Day 2.  Arrive Longreach

On arrival to Longreach via the Spirit of the Outback enjoy a welcome dinner and tour briefing at your motel. Overnight Longreach (D)

Day 3. Longreach

This morning view this country through the eyes of local graziers and pioneer families. Meet Bevan and Maree Pearce and learn about their operation and the challenges of operating on the land. Explore the unique features of their property Strathmore before travelling onto Ilfracombe; originally surveyed as the town of Wellshot. Discover the living legacy of the over 100 year old famous Wellshot Hotel and Wellshot Centre; an outstanding interpretation of rural settlement and property development not to mention other secrets not to miss. On return to Longreach step back in time with the 747 and 707 secrets tour. The national treasures such as the original hanger and the amazing artefacts bring alive the early culture of one of the world’s first airlines at the Qantas Founders Outback Museum. Day 4. Birdsville

This morning depart for the famous Birdsville. Heading southwest, follow the mighty Thompson River flood plain and Mitchell grass lands to Stonehenge and Jundah where the red mulga country begins. Explore the famous Cooper’s creek catchment, the famous 'Kings in Grass Castles' country following the footprints of the famous pioneering Durack family.  Enjoy a great lunch at Windorah Sand Hill Grill. We travel onto Deon’s Lookout for picnic refreshments and amazing views of the Diamantina Shire and Betoota. Arrive Birdsville late afternoon to check in to the Birdsville Hotel. Day 5. Birdsville

Enjoy an easy day of no big kilometres, discovering the icons of Birdsville. Encounter the Birdsville Working Museum to meet John Menzies, a true outback character. Time to check out the Burke and Wills Tree on the Diamantina River and visit the famous Birdsville Race Track prior to lunch. After lunch enjoy some Leisure time to explore the Wirrari Centre, Wolfgang’s art house, Birdsville Billabong and the inland Hospital ruins. Mid afternoon we head out for happy hour on the amazing red dunes at Big Red - the Edge of the Simpson Desert National Park. Be a part of the experience and feel the very soul of Australia as the sun goes down over the heart of the Outback and Poeppel’s Corner sits quietly protected beyond the horizon, by these vast and timeless sand dunes of the Simpson Desert. Back to Birdsville’s Hotel for dinner and a Flying Doctor Auction. Day 6. Boulia

Departing Birdsville for Boulia we explore the Waddi Trees found in only 3 places on the planet. The species is so old it has survived since the ice age. Down the track encounter the Cacoory Ruins a sign of first European settlement established in 1870 amongst some of the toughest country in the heart of the Lake Eyre Basin, one fifth of Australia’s land mass. Travel across the vast Cuttaburra flood plain and onto Bedourie for lunch. Moving north of Eyre creek where the channel country meets the desert we arrive into Boulia mid afternoon to check into our accommodation. In the late afternoon we explore Boulia’s historic stone house, with definite early vibes of our past pioneers and much more. Discover the Min Min Encounter, learning the story surrounding the myth of the mysterious Min Min Light. Overnight Boulia (BLD)

Day 7. Winton

This morning we travel east to Winton via the vast timeless landscape of the majestic mesas set amongst the open pebbly plains at the Cawnpore Lookout, a landscape only found in 2 places on earth. Moving onto the Middleton Hotel, catch up with the locals for morning tea. Enjoy a yarn about life amongst the famous Min Min country. Arriving into Winton enjoy Lunch and a visit through the Award Winning Waltzing Matilda Centre. Mid afternoon check into our accommodation with time to rest and refresh before the Ultimate Progressive Dinner and Winton Welcome. Beginning with a short drive onto the Jump Up, take in the latest dinosaur discoveries at the Australian Age of Dinosaurs laboratory. Amongst the Majestic Mesa country soak up an unforgettable sunset and happy hour nibbles; progressing onto the Main Course, then settle in with an ice cream or jaffa’s at The Royal Mail Open Air Theatre; sit back in an old fashioned canvas seat with an open sky above as we are entertained by the screening of the Nostalgia Reels of Yesteryear followed by an optional cup of tea or coffee. Day 8. Longreach

Depart Winton for Carisbrooke and Lark Quarry dinosaur track ways. Travelling onto the northern remnant of the Gonnaway Plateau, the colourful Cory’s Range, a breath-taking, dramatic drive, featuring a private pristine wilderness experience - brilliant colours with views of over 700sq miles of country. Enjoy a mouth watering, country catered homestead lunch. Onto the Tully Range, let us take you on a journey into the cretaceous period - a time when dinosaurs ruled. See their tracks: the only recorded dinosaur stampede in the world - over 3,030 footprints. Mid afternoon we return to Winton for a break before moving onto Longreach late afternoon. Day 9. Longreach

Soak up the Hall of Fame Cottage and RM Williams Heritage Garden’s Tour. Learn of the legends and the unsung heroes at The Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame, a fascinating tribute to the pioneering men & women of Australia. Tantalise your taste buds at the Cattleman’s Bar and Grill for lunch. Time to freshen up, rest back at your accommodation or shop down town for any last souvenirs of an incredible experience. This evening soak up a spectacular outback sunset with the Drover’s Dinner Extravaganza. Sit back and be charmed by our outback entertainers and savour the traditional and exotic flavours of our outback themed cuisine with our fun farewell awards. Day 10. Depart Longreach

Return home via Rail or flight departure to your next port of call after an unforgettable experience with Outback Aussie Tours. Breakfast this morning will be on the train (own expense).

Terms and Conditions

1. BROCHURE VALIDITY
Tours are valid from 1st April 2010 to 31st March 2011. Any booking is made pursuant to these terms and conditions.

2. TOUR PARTICIPATION/EXCLUSION/RELEASE
Outback Aussie Tours may, if in the opinion of any representative of Outback Aussie Tours or carrier, either refuse to allow persons on the tour or expel persons from the tour if their mental or physical condition is such as to render them: incapable of caring for themself; likely to become objectionable to other passengers; or a hazard to themself or other passengers. Outback Aussie Tours will not be liable for any expenses arising from such persons being precluded from completing the tour for any such reason. Each booking is conditional on Outback Aussie Tours securing the minimum number of bookings required to operate the tour and to ensure an enjoyable group atmosphere. Where sufficient numbers cannot be achieved, Outback Aussie Tours reserves the right to cancel or suspend a scheduled departure.

3. SPECIAL DIETS
Passengers requiring special diets such as vegetarian or gluten free must inform Outback Aussie Tours at time of reservation and reconfirm their request with the Outback Aussie Tours Driver/Host upon arrival. Outback Aussie Tours cannot guarantee special requests will be met in all instances.

4. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Outback Aussie Tours welcomes passengers with disabilities or special needs provided they are accompanied by a companion capable of providing all necessary assistance. Any special requirements must be advised at time of booking. Outback Aussie Tours reserves the right to refuse to carry any person who it deems cannot fully care for themselves on Tour without assistance. Wheelchairs and walkers cannot be carried on motorcoaches due to space limitation. Wheelchair passengers should be aware of these limitations. We regret that we cannot provide individual assistance to a passenger for walking, dining, getting on and off motorcoaches or other transportation vehicles, or other personal needs. Passengers who need such assistance must be accompanied by a qualified companion.

5. HEALTH & FITNESS
6. Tours include walks ranging from short to long distances of up to 1.5 kilometres. These walks are often over uneven ground and may include steps. For safety and enjoyment passengers should be in good physical condition to participate in all tours. Some walks vary in degree of difficulty from moderate to difficult. Passengers need to be aware of the high temperatures which may be experienced in the Outback. Medical Equipment: Please note that in some remote outback locations electric power may not be available 24 hours per day. Passengers are advised to bring take adequate medication (and spare prescriptions for essential medication) for remote travel and emergencies.

7. PRICING & CONDITIONS
All prices in this brochure are quoted in Australian currency and include tour preparation, operation costs and GST where applicable. Prices include all on-tour coach travel, all railway station and airport transfers at arrival and departure point of each tour; meals, accommodation, sightseeing and admissions as per the itinerary. Prices do not include airfares, rail tickets, meals not specified in the itinerary, drinks, laundry, optional activities and items of a personal nature. Changes to rail/flight schedules may require additional overnight accommodation at either commencement or completion of the tour, which is at passengers’ own expense. Additional Optional Activities are not included in the tour cost and incur additional charges. Tours are subject to availability, operational and seasonal factors. A minimum number of people are required for some activities to operate and you are encouraged to pre-book these prior to arrival to avoid disappointment.. 8. CHANGES TO THE ITINERARY
Outback Aussie Tours is often not the provider of attractions, excursions and/or optional tours. Accordingly, Outback Aussie Tours may, where it is required to do so, suspend or cancel any tour inclusion where that tour inclusion is not available or in the opinion of Outback Aussie Tours, unadvisable, unsafe or unsuitable. During local or national holidays, certain facilities such as museums and restaurants, sightseeing tours and shopping may be limited or not available. Outback Aussie Tours reserves the right to alter or change the accommodation, carriers or vessels at any time for any reason; and cancel or alter the itinerary and/or tour at any time without notice as Outback Aussie Tours considers necessary for any reason whatsoever including road, weather or traffic conditions, non performance of suppliers, industrial action, operational conditions and requirements. Where a tour is cancelled prior to the departure date, Outback Aussie Tours will use all reasonable endeavours to offer the nearest possible alternative tour (subject to a refund or payment to cover any tour price difference) or, if this is not acceptable, refund the tour price or such portion of it as Outback Aussie Tours considers appropriate.

9. DEPOSITS & FINAL PAYMENT
A non-refundable/non-transferable deposit of $200 per person is payable within 7 days of booking confirmation. Bookings will be automatically cancelled if a deposit is not received by outback Aussie Tours within 7 days of booking. Final payment for tour costs must be paid no later than 60 days prior to travel. For bookings made less than 60 days prior to departure, full payment is required within 48 hours of confirmation. It is the passengers’ responsibility to pay the tour price by the due date. Please ensure payments are made within the specified time limits to ensure that bookings are not automatically cancelled.

Please note: transferring to another date is treated as a cancellation and cancellation fees apply.

11. TRAVEL INSURANCE
Passengers are strongly recommended to take out travel insurance to cover against unforeseen circumstances. Ask your travel agent for details.

12. BAGGAGE ALLOWANCE
Due to limited space available on the vehicle and in accordance with the airlines, passengers are entitled to carry one suitcase per person with the total sum of not exceeding 60cm length, 40cm width and 60cm height and weight 15kg. Personal items such as make-up, cameras etc should be carried in a travel bag which is not to exceed 4kg per person. Where possible use soft bags not cases. Passengers are to ensure that luggage meets the weight requirements as overweight items will be left behind.

13. YOUNG TRAVELLERS
A child is classified as 12 years and younger and children under 7 years of age are not recommended. Child prices are subject to sharing with sole use or twin sharing adults only. Persons under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.

14. RESPONSIBILITY
Passenger participation in tours operated by the carrier companies and Outback Aussie Tours may incur certain risks and dangers which are beyond the operators’ control including, but not limited to the hazards of travelling in remote areas, travel by boat, train, automobile, aircraft or other means of transportation, the forces of nature and accident or illness in remote regions without means of rapid evacuation or medical facilities. The carrier companies and Outback Aussie Tours will not have any liability regarding provision of medical care or the adequacy of any care that may be rendered. It is understood that Outback Aussie Tours will use their best efforts to ensure that adequate measures are taken. Passengers must make their own enquiries regarding safety warnings in relation to the destination they are travelling too.

15. SEAT ROTATION & SMOKING
To ensure all clients have the opportunity to enjoy front and window seats, a daily seat rotation system is employed. Government regulations restrict smoking on tour coaches.
